Al Mashat Attends Farewell Ceremony for British Amb. in Cairo
Taarek Refaat Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development participated in a farewell reception for British Ambassador Gareth Bayley, organized by the Egyptian-British Business Association. The event, held to mark the end of Ambassador Bayley's tenure in Egypt, was attended by prominent public figures and members of the Egyptian and British business communities. In her speech, Al-Mashat praised Ambassador Bayley's pivotal role in strengthening Egyptian-British economic relations since his arrival in 2021. She highlighted the Ambassador's efforts in fostering partnerships between the private sectors of both nations, notably through cooperation with the British International Investment (BII) and the fruitful bilateral collaboration between the governments of Egypt and the United Kingdom. Al-Mashat also reflected on the continued progress in Egyptian-British development cooperation, emphasizing the United Kingdom's support for the launch of Egypt's "Novee" National Platform. Additionally, the UK has contributed to the "Hafiz" platform, which provides both financial and technical support to Egypt's private sector. These efforts align with the two nations' joint goals of diversifying innovative financing sources for both public and private sectors, as well as supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and climate-focused startups. The Minister highlighted that the UK's commitment to Egypt's green transformation has been reflected in its support for climate-related financing mechanisms, such as the Climate Finance Acceleration Program, developed in collaboration with both the government and the private sector. In his farewell address, Ambassador Bayley expressed his sincere gratitude to the Egyptian government and people for the warm hospitality he received during his tenure. He acknowledged the longstanding and historical relationship between Egypt and the UK, underscoring the depth of cooperation between the two nations, both at the governmental and private sector levels. Bayley also pointed to several UK-supported projects in Egypt, such as the "Novee" National Platform, which plays a crucial role in attracting climate investments and advancing Egypt's green transformation agenda. He also emphasized the UK's contributions to energy and food security through various programs, including its role in the food sector within the Novee framework, through the International Partnership for Integration. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Germany to Expand F-35 Fleet
Israa Farhan Germany is preparing to bolster its air force with an additional purchase of 15 US-made F-35 fighter jets, bringing the total number of aircraft planned for procurement to 50, according to reports from Politico citing informed sources. This expansion comes at a time of rising tension between Berlin and Paris over the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), a joint Franco-German-Spanish next-generation fighter jet project. Recent reports suggest France is demanding up to 80% of the industrial workshare. This move could undermine the original task distribution agreement and potentially stall the program before it enters its next development phase, as reported by *Reuters*, citing an industry insider. Germany's proposed acquisition aligns with a broader NATO strategy to increase collective defence spending to 5% of GDP over the next decade. This target reflects heightened concerns over Russia's growing military threat and the alliance's goal of enhancing military and civilian resilience across member states. A spokesperson for the German Ministry of Defense declined to comment on potential procurement decisions, stating that no purchase would be confirmed before presentation to parliament. Germany had already placed an order for 35 F-35 jets to replace its ageing fleet of 85 Tornado aircraft, which are scheduled for decommissioning. The new acquisition is expected to support NATO's revised capability benchmarks, which now demand higher numbers of combat-ready troops and advanced weapons systems. A military source indicated that the idea of acquiring 15 more aircraft had been under consideration in earlier defense discussions. However, evolving NATO requirements have prompted a reassessment, with initial figures now deemed insufficient. Although the expanded fleet has not been officially confirmed, additional procurement may be necessary to meet strategic demands. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz acknowledged ongoing disagreements over FCAS specifications, stating on Wednesday that internal disputes over workload distribution and intellectual property rights have plagued the project since its inception. The delays and diplomatic strain cast further uncertainty over the future of Europe's flagship defense cooperation initiative. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Firefighter Dies Battling Massive Wildfire in Spain
Israa Farhan A Spanish firefighter has died while battling a large wildfire near Tarragona in northeast Spain, according to Catalonia's fire service. The blaze, which ignited on Monday in the rural municipality of Pauls, has scorched approximately 3,300 hectares of land. The incident occurred at 2:17 PM on Thursday, while the firefighter and his team were reinforcing fire containment lines in a rugged area along the fire's right flank. He was a member of Catalonia's Active Prevention Unit, a division responsible for wildfire suppression and post-fire cooling operations, including clearing dry vegetation to prevent further flare-ups. Emergency services airlifted the firefighter in critical condition to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatality. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his condolences in a post on X, praising the dedication and bravery of firefighters and first responders battling wildfires across the country. Fire crews successfully halted the spread of the blaze on Wednesday, after strong winds had intensified the fire earlier in the week. The region has been experiencing extreme heat and arid conditions, significantly increasing the risk of wildfires. Spain's meteorological agency confirmed that last month was the hottest June on record, further exacerbating fire threats across the country. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language
