A lot of people had given up hope on the idea of Giannis Antetokounmpo requesting a trade away from the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason. Shams Charania believes it is too early to rule it out entirely.

Charania appeared on Get Up for ESPN (h/t Bleacher Report) on Thursday morning. The NBA insider expressed that if a deal gets done for Antetokounmpo, it could take some time.
"[There's] a lot of observing," Charania told viewers. "He's been there for 12 years, so there's going to be that equity given to the Bucks to see what they do during the draft week, free agency week."

Charania continued, "How much can they improve this team in their moves? He said it, he wants to compete for championships. Can the Bucks make those championship moves? His future, I've said it for the last few weeks, it won't be tied to the draft, it won't be tied to free agency."
The biggest hint dropped about when the dominos could start falling for this situation was included in the following statement.
Charania mentioned, "If there is a resolution on Giannis Antetokounmpo, it could be later in the summer."
This puts potential suitors like the Warriors in a tricky position. Putting all the eggs into the Antetokounmpo basket could limit overall roster upgrades that can be done in the meantime.

On this day in Boston Celtics history, Celtics draft pick Joe Johnson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1981. Johnson would play his collegiate basketball at the University of Arkansas, which he would lead to the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament championship in 2000. The Little Rock native would be drafted by the Celtics in the 2001 NBA Draft with the 10th overall pick of the draft and would play for Boston for 48 games of his rookie season before being traded. The small forward would be dealt with Randy Brown, Milt Palacio, and draft assets to the Phoenix Suns for Tony Delk and Rodney Rogers in February 2002, then rejoin Boston for a single game in 2022. The former Razorback averaged 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while with Boston. It is also the date of the 1994 NBA draft, held at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Celtics took one player of note, that being big man Eric Montross out of North Carolina, drafted with the ninth overall pick of the draft. During the latest episode of New Heights, Travis Kelce and his brother Jason welcomed Kansas City Chiefs offensive guard Trey Smith. The Pro Bowl offensive lineman opened up about his battle with blood clots at Tennessee. "One week in conditioning, we were doing half-gassers, and I passed out. I had never passed out. I couldn't breathe well," said Smith, "I lost 13 pounds in a day. I remember talking to our team doctor, 'Hey, you guys gotta run more tests on me; I feel terrible. And he's like, 'We're gonna do a blood draw, just go ahead and go to class." Advertisement After starting at left tackle during his sophomore season, Tennessee's medical staff discovered blood clots in Smith's lungs and ruled him out indefinitely. The issue was identified in February 2018, before the start of spring practice. "They rush me to the hospital and figure out that I have blood clots in both sides of my lungs," said Smith, "So that was sort of one of those moments where it's like, man, can I still play football? Like, what does this mean? And pretty much, I was working with the doctors for five months. (I had to go on) blood thinners." Smith started all ten games in his last collegiate season, earning first-team All-SEC honors for the Volunteers. "So it was a crazy experience. But in my junior year, I was able to play the entire season. Decided to stay at Tennessee, "said Smith, "I made a promise to my deceased mom, Dorsetta Smith, that I would get my degree and play in the NFL one day. So I kept my promise."
