Google has reportedly launched a new film and television production wing signalling the company's entrance into entertainment industry. As reported by Business Insider, the initiative named '100 Zeros' will focus on the funding and co-producing a variety of film and TV projects. Google has entered into a multiyear partnership with Range Media Partners , a well-established talent firm and production company known for its involvement in films such as "A Complete Unknown" and "Longlegs."As per the report with 100 Zeros, Google's goal is to encourage the creative community to adopt its latest technology products and services, including Immersive View (which enables 3D viewing) and other spatial tools. The report further adds that last year, 100 Zeros quietly backed the marketing of the indie horror film 'Cuckoo', and two upcoming films—'Sweetwater' and 'LUCID'—are set to release later this year. These projects aim to highlight AI's role in storytelling and immersive experiences."Through our continued partnership with Range, we aim to collaborate with the Hollywood creative community in a thoughtful and productive way, upkeeping our ongoing commitment to responsibly support creative expression and explore thepossibilities of technology through storytelling," a Google spokesperson told Business Insider. The report also identifies key personnel involved in 100 Zeros, including Penny Lin, a film producer at Range, and development executives Casey Durant and Tony Nguyen. Rachel Douglas, a partner and manager at Range, oversees the relationship with Google. On the Google side, Jonathan Zepp, the managing director of emerging content experiences, is the primary contact."This initiative is different in that it's staffed by full- time people who come out of Hollywood and are housed at and supported by Range," Douglas of 100 Zeros told Business Insider.Despite Google's ownership of YouTube, the company is not using the platform as the primary distribution channel for 100 Zeros. Instead, the goal is to sell projects to traditional studios and streaming platforms like Netflix.

CCI orders another investigation into Google over AdTech dominance charges

Fair trade regulator CCI has ordered a detailed investigation into Google's conduct in the online display advertising market on a complaint filed by the Alliance of Digital India Foundation (ADIF). In an order passed by CCI on Friday, the regulator said it has decided to club the complaint with ongoing investigations in similar cases and directed the Director General (DG) to carry out a consolidated probe into Google's conduct in the AdTech ecosystem. "The DG is directed to investigate the various alleged practices of Google in Online Display Advertising services and/ or AdTech intermediation services and submit a consolidated investigation report in the matters, accordingly," it added. The order comes in response to a detailed complaint filed by ADIF alleging that Google has engaged in anti-competitive practices across various layers of its advertising technology stack. In its complaint, ADIF alleged that Google, through its multiple group entities, has engaged in anti-competitive conduct by self-preferencing its own services in the AdTech ecosystem, including tying and bundling of its publisher ad server (DFP) with its ad exchange (AdX), and linking access to YouTube ad inventory with the use of its demand-side platform (DV360). ADIF, which represents startups, companies and individuals, also alleged that such practices not only harmed publishers and advertisers but also foreclosed the market for competing AdTech service providers. The CCI said that the participation of ADIF, which represents key stakeholders in the start-up and digital ecosystem, could bring additional insights to the probe and there was no legal barrier to clubbing the matter with the ongoing investigation. The Commission said it was prima facie satisfied that Google's conduct warranted scrutiny under Section 4 of the Competition Act, which deals with abuse of dominant position. It directed that the matter be clubbed with four existing cases and a consolidated report be submitted after investigation. "Allegations made by ADIF in the present matter already form part of the allegations being investigated in the Publishers Case (supra), in terms of the proviso to Section 26(1) of the Act, the commission decides to club the present matter," the CCI said. However, in its response, Google denied the allegations and said it operates in a competitive AdTech market in India, with players like Xandr, Amazon Ads and the Trade Desk. It maintained that its products are interoperable and not tied. However, the CCI said these aspects will be examined during the course of the investigation. In a separate order, the CCI dismissed a complaint filed by ADIF against Google, concluding that the allegations raised were already examined and settled in previous cases. The CCI said it is not convinced by the reasons stated by ADIF for distinguishing its allegations from the issues examined in previous orders passed by the regulator. "The issues examined in the previous order may be 'the same' or 'substantially the same'. "Therefore, the present matter is directed to be closed forthwith in terms of the provisions of section 26(2A) of the Act," the regulator added. ADIF had cited four main concerns, including prohibition on third-party technical support advertisements, restrictions on 'Call Ads' on desktops, lack of transparency in ad rankings, and allowing competitors to bid on trademarked keywords. "All the four instances of alleged unfair and discriminatory conditions imposed by Google upon advertisers as part of its Google Ads Policies as raised by ADIF in the present matter, have already been examined in substance and set to rest by the commission in its previous decisions," the competition watchdog said. The Trap of Reassurance-Seeking It's Not Your Personality, It's a Pattern You Can Unlearn — DrBobBeare (@DrBobBeare) A Quiet Survival Strategy In a digital world where every reaction is tracked, judged, and replayed, a growing number of Gen Z individuals are navigating stress not with aggression or avoidance, but with over-accommodation. Known as fawning, this lesser-known trauma response is emerging as a defining emotional pattern for today's youngest by psychotherapist Pete Walker, fawning joins the classic trio of trauma responses — fight, flight, and freeze — as a fourth mode of survival, particularly in those raised in emotionally unstable environments. It involves excessive people-pleasing, conflict avoidance, and an anxious need to appease others to feel in the social media era, fawning has gone and author Josephson knows this pattern well. Raised in a volatile household, she told Business Insider that constantly monitoring her father's moods made perfectionism feel like protection. 'Being kind of always on was very protective for me,' she she left home, the habit didn't leave with her. She found herself instinctively trying to smooth over tensions — even when no one was upset. It wasn't until therapy that she recognized her reflex to seek safety through appeasement rather than confrontation or a therapist herself, Josephson says fawning is a frequent theme in her Gen Z clients' lives. .So why Gen Z? Josephson believes their upbringing in a hyper-connected world is key. Social media and digital communication have not only amplified the fear of rejection but also offered endless avenues to seek reassurance.'There are so many ways to connect now, and because of that, there are so many ways to feel forgotten,' she told Business Insider. Whether it's a friend not liking a post or a crush leaving a message on read, these seemingly small cues can trigger panic spirals that lead to people-pleasing behavior Fawning, she said, is now 'almost a more modernized threat response.'In Josephson's practice, she sees how Gen Z often turns to friends, forums, or even AI tools like ChatGPT to validate their feelings or mend imagined conflicts. But over-reliance on external affirmation only deepens the cycle.'You get relief for a split second,' she explained, 'but it's not sustainable.'This cycle, she warns, can strain relationships, foster dependence, and feed into more serious disorders like relationship OCD . Even tech, while helpful in moderation, can't replace the grounding power of real human its roots in trauma, Josephson is adamant that fawning isn't a fixed trait. 'It's not an identity,' she told Business Insider, 'but a self-protective pattern.' She works with clients to slowly unlearn these behaviors by tuning in to their motivations and practicing micro-moments of mindfulness.'Pause before you speak or send a message. Ask yourself: Am I doing this from fear or authenticity?' she small acts of awareness can blossom into boundary-setting, emotional resilience, and self-worth untethered from external Psychology Today notes, fawning is common among individuals who have experienced chronic relational trauma. It may have once served as a shield, but in adulthood, it can reinforce wounds by prioritizing others' needs above one's a generation increasingly fluent in therapy-speak and self-awareness, the rise of fawning reflects both progress and a new emotional challenge. Gen Z may not be the first to fawn — but they might just be the first to talk about it, post about it, and collectively learn how to let it go.

Sundar Pichai's Google massive loss: Code reveals Alphabet company's secret of…, will it affect … In a major development, tech giant Google on Thursday lost its appeal to overturn a court verdict that ordered changes to its Play Store. The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously rejected the Alphabet company's argument that the earlier trial was unfair and that the trial judge made legal errors in the antitrust case that unfairly benefited 'Fortnite' maker Epic Games. Notably, Epic Games filed a lawsuit against Google in 2020, accusing Google of antitrust violations. Following the court's verdict, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney took to X and wrote, 'Total victory in the Epic vs Google case!' What Was The Case? Epic lodged a case against Tech Giant Google accusing the company of monopolising how users access apps on Android devices and how they make payments for transactions within those apps. The company, in 2023, succeeded in convincing the San Francisco jury that the Alphabet company illegally stifled competition.
