Island Beach State Park in Seaside Park at the Jersey short will be closed indefinitely, the state announced late Saturday night.
The park, with its beaches and amenities, is a popular day destination in Ocean County for Bucks County beachgoers.
'We are disappointed to report that the park is experiencing sewer line blockage issues that necessitates closing all restrooms within the park. Public restrooms are required as per the New Jersey Department of Health Public Recreational Bathing Code, and without operational restrooms, it would be both unsanitary and unsafe to allow visitors into the park,' the state Department of Environmental Protection's notice read on its Facebook page at about 11 p.m. Saturday.
The state said park staff are working to resolve the issue and make repairs, and would update its website and social media pages with updates.
The beautiful July 4th holiday weekend weather has kept the park busy as it closed due to being filled to capacity on Saturday. Sunday is bringing what would be another gorgeous beach day with 78° and mostly sunny skies.

In the summer, the population of Stone Harbor balloons to over 20,000 as vacationers mostly from the mid-Atlantic states and Quebec, Canada, flock to the area. 'Stone Harbor is a charming borough in Cape May County, at the southern end of Seven Mile Island. The 96th Street Beach in this small town offers beautiful, clear water in New Jersey. You'll never want to leave,' the notes. If you're planning a trip to Stone Harbor, it is also possible to visit the Stone Harbor Museum, which contains more than 50,000 unique artifacts and focuses on the local history of the area, or the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary, which is registered as a National Landmark by the National Park Service. According to the Cape May County website, there are plenty of activities to partake of in Stone Harbor, including fishing, jet skiing, surfing, sailing, shell collecting, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and more. The summer also sees events like the Stone Harbor Art Show and Craft Show, which draws many visitors to the town. The cleanest beaches in New Jersey are the beach at 40th Street in Avalon, Sea Isle City at 40th Street, Upper Township at Webster Road, Wildwood Crest at Orchid, Margate at Washington, and Port Pleasant Beach, according to The Jersey Shore is famous for its many beach towns that cater to all kinds of travelers, as well as its many boardwalks that contain nostalgia-inspiring attractions, a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops, which all spring to vibrant life in the summertime.

ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK — Sewer line blockages prompted state park officials to limit the number of visitors allowed into Island Beach State Park on July 6, according to New Jersey officials. "The park has experienced sewer line blockages over the past several days, requiring the closure of restrooms while Island Beach State Park staff and outside contractors work to identify and resolve the issue," state officials wrote on the park's webpage. "Per the New Jersey Department of Health's Public Recreational Bathing Code, operational restrooms are required to safely allow public access." As of the morning of July 6, the park had "limited functioning restrooms" and staff were working to bring in portable toilets to accommodate the public, according to the post. "Without operational restrooms, it would be both unsanitary and unsafe to allow visitors into the park," New Jersey officials wrote on the park website. Island Beach State Park is home to one of New Jersey's most popular beaches, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The park attracts about a million people each year, and most of those visitors come in the summer months, according to the agency.
