Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has announced his latest venture, a science fiction series titled Warlord, created entirely using generative AI. The project, developed in collaboration with Mumbai-based AI filmmaking company Studio Blo, signals a bold step into the future of digital storytelling.Kapur, who will take on the roles of writer, director, and producer, has described Warlord as a blend of sci-fi, fantasy, and romance. At the heart of the series lies a central question: 'Can love exist across dimensions?' The teaser released for the series offers a glimpse into this narrative with surreal imagery, including a jellyfish-like spaceship hovering over an alien world, a luminous woman dissolving into energy, and a mysterious figure watching events unfold.According to a media statement, beyond its storyline, the project is also being positioned as the cornerstone of a much larger initiative. Kapur revealed that Warlord is the starting point of a shared cinematic universe, or what he refers to as a "living universe." The intention is to open up this universe to creators globally, encouraging them to contribute and build upon it.In an unconventional move, Kapur and Studio Blo plan to make production designs and character assets from the series publicly accessible. Creators from across the world will be allowed to incorporate these elements into their own stories and projects, provided they pay a nominal fee of one cent per use and agree to release their adaptations as open-source content. This initiative aims to democratize access to high-quality production assets while fostering a culture of collaborative storytelling.In a media statement, Dipankar Mukherjee, Co-Founder and CEO of Studio Blo, highlighted how Kapur's vision pushed their boundaries. According to him, the proposal involved multiple technical and creative challenges, from building an entire series using generative AI to implementing a decentralized intellectual property model. He said it led the team to reevaluate not just their tools but also their storytelling methods.Kapur emphasized that artificial intelligence in filmmaking can level the playing field for independent creators, enabling them to compete with big-budget studios. He sees Warlord not just as a show, but as a platform where creators worldwide can collaborate, remix, and contribute to an evolving narrative world unrestricted by traditional production limitations.The filmmaker, who has directed acclaimed films such as Masoom, Mr. India, Bandit Queen, Elizabeth, and The Four Feathers, is currently serving as the festival director of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). His venture into AI-led storytelling marks a new chapter in his career, showcasing his willingness to embrace innovation while encouraging a more open and inclusive creative ecosystem.The Warlord teaser, jointly released by Kapur and Studio Blo, offers only a brief look at what's to come.

The women-only U.S. dating advice app Tea has suspended direct messaging following a series of security breaches that exposed its users' personal details and sensitive communications, the company said on Tuesday. In a series of posts to TikTok, Tea Dating Advice said it had taken messaging offline "out of an abundance of caution" after discovering the breach. The announcement followed a report last week in tech publication 404media that the company had inadvertently exposed the names, selfies, and identity documents of thousands of women, and a second report earlier on Tuesday that direct messages, including sensitive conversations around abortions and infidelity, had similarly been exposed. The app, which boasts 4.6 million users, is pitched as a "dating safety platform" that women can use to steer clear of men who are adulterous, dishonest, or worse. As a TikTok video put out by the company last year put it, the app "makes the FBI work for us girlies so much easier." Women on Tea are encouraged to share details about prospective dates, create alerts against men's names, and put red flags against men who are alleged to be unscrupulous and green flags against those who are not. "Everything is anonymous," the app promises users on sign-up. Reuters could not establish why the selfies and ID card data had lingered online. Tea did not respond to requests seeking further comment. In its TikTok message, the app said the FBI was investigating the circumstances around the breach. The FBI declined to comment. Eva Galperin, the director of cybersecurity at San Francisco-based Electronic Frontier Foundation, said the premise behind the app, creating a kind of massive whisper network powered by anonymous users, was already "a little bit sketchy." She said the app's makers had made it worse by being "honestly negligent" about their security and that the disaster was compounded because "women are encouraged to share extremely sensitive information about themselves and others."

A source told the publication, 'The South Mumbai portions gave the real-world texture to the story. Now, we've shifted to a more controlled set-up. Unlike Rohit's past cop action movies, this one is being mounted as a gritty procedural drama. We are filming the interrogation scenes of the many high-profile investigations that Maria headed." Daily production reportedly involves a crew of 50 to 100 people. The source added that the film will feature five elaborate action sequences, all likely to be shot toward the end of August. 'The post-production will begin soon. Rohit is approaching this one differently. It's not just an action spectacle; it will be a deep dive into the mind of a man who faced some of Mumbai's darkest chapters," the insider explained. John Abraham had earlier confirmed the collaboration in an interview with Pinkvilla, revealing that the film is an adaptation of Rakesh Maria's autobiography Let Me Say It Now. 'The subject we're talking about is a banger that'll blow people away. It's not just about two people collaborating; it's also about the subject, and that's unbelievable," he had said.
