Ujjwal Kesari's success journey began in Class 8, when his love for Physics and Maths led him to choose Science in Class 11, setting the foundation for his JEE achievement
The results of JEE Advanced 2025 have been announced, and an extraordinary feat has come to light. Seventeen-year-old Ujjwal Kesari from South Delhi has secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 5 with a score of 324 out of 360.
With such stellar marks, Ujjwal could have easily secured admission to coveted programs like Computer Science at IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi. However, he surprised everyone by declaring that he would not be joining any IIT. Despite his exceptional performance, Ujjwal's decision to opt out of IIT has left many astonished.
Why Choose IISc Bangalore?
Instead, Ujjwal has expressed his desire to join the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. He revealed in an interview that his passion lies in research, particularly in the field of quantum physics, and he believes that IISc Bangalore is the right place for him to pursue this interest. He stated that while IITs offer excellent job opportunities with lucrative packages, his goal is not to seek employment but to advance in research.
JEE Main Exam Preparation
Ujjwal's journey to success began in the 8th standard when he decided to take science in the 11th standard, driven by his love for Physics and Mathematics. His consistent planning and dedication have paid off, placing him among the top candidates in the country's toughest entrance exam.
The key to Ujjwal's preparation was his consistency. He ensured equal time was devoted to all subjects, regardless of whether they were his strengths or weaknesses. He minimised breaks and maintained a steady flow in his studies, a strategy that proved successful.
Support From Family
Family support played a crucial role in Ujjwal's journey. As the youngest in his family, with his elder sister in the arts stream, he received unwavering encouragement from his father, who works in a private job, and his mother, a homemaker. This support was instrumental in helping him achieve his dreams.
Stay Away From Phone
Ujjwal has a valuable tip for fellow JEE aspirants: stay away from phones. He emphasised that screen time is a significant distraction and reducing it is essential for success. By strictly following this rule, Ujjwal found the secret to his achievement.
Inspiration For Students
Ujjwal's story serves as an inspiration to all JEE students. He not only secured a top rank but also followed his heart in choosing the path he believed was right. For those preparing for JEE, Ujjwal's journey offers lessons in focus, consistency, and the importance of following one's dreams, whether it leads to IIT or IISc.

TGSWREIS records 5-year high Inter admission rate at 86.7%

The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) has recorded 86.7% admission rate for the first year of Intermediate for the 2025–26 academic year, the highest in the past five years, according to official data. Of 19,680 available seats, 17,100 have already been filled. The remaining institution-wise vacancies have been published on the official website ( and will be filled through spot counselling scheduled for July 31, officials said. The Society's premier Centres of Excellence also saw a record-high admission rate of 91%, the best since 2022–23, when it stood at 79.91%. These centres, which admit only high-achieving students (typically those scoring over 90% in Class 10) have seen consistent growth in seat capacity. From 640 seats in 2022–23, the number rose to 960 the following year, and further to 1,560 in 2025–26. Of these, 1,420 seats have already been filled. According to the institutional structure, the 26 district centres of excellence come just next to the foundational premier centres (FPC). These have more moderate entry requirements, but students have the opportunity to move up to the FPCs in their second year if they score above 95% in their first-year exams, thanks to a mobility scheme in place. The Society describes its 11 flagship FCPs as 'academic powerhouses' that offer focused coaching for competitive exams like IIT-JEE, NEET, CMA and CLAT. These centres are supported by advanced planning, digital learning tools and experienced faculty teams. TGSWREIS also reported that its Sainik School in Rukmapur achieved 100% admissions for the academic year.

Admissions to T CoEs only on merit, 91% of seats filled

Hyderabad: For the first time in years, admissions to Telangana's Social Welfare Centres of Excellence (CoEs) have been based entirely on academic merit, with no scope for arbitrary selections. This marks a key shift from previous practices, where informal recommendations, subjective criteria, and management-level decisions often influenced access to these highly sought-after institutions. The Foundational CoEs, established specifically to support students from marginalised and underprivileged backgrounds in preparing for competitive entrance examinations such as the IIT-JEE, NEET, CLAT, and CMA, have undergone notable expansion. This year, these institutions reported a 60% increase in intake capacity, and impressively, 91% of the newly available seats have already been filled. This substantial growth reflects the rising demand for high-quality preparatory education among marginalised communities, said VS Alagu Varshini, Secretary. NFR to turn Guwahati rly stn into fully plastic-recyclable hub

Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is set to transform Guwahati railway station into a fully plastic-recyclable hub by Independence Day. This initiative aims to combat plastic pollution across its network. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now NFR is collaborating with IIT-Guwahati and the Assam Pollution Control Board to devise an action plan. M/s Kusum Udyog, a PCBA-approved recycling agency, was tasked with submitting a comprehensive proposal for the project, NFR chief public relations officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said. He added that the railway department is working in tandem with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Guwahati and the Assam Pollution Control Board (PCBA), where they are devising an action plan for this initiative. "The agenda also included reviewing current waste disposal practices, identifying high-impact areas, and formulating a joint action plan to minimise single-use plastic and enhance sustainable practices. Furthermore, the Scouts and Guides of NFR organised public awareness activities such as placard displays and drama performances to raise awareness among the passengers as well," Sharma said. Under this project, the plastic waste generated at the station will be collected, shredded, washed, and properly segregated before being recycled. The aim is to make the station the first plastic-free railway station in India through this waste management and recycling effort, following which it will be carried out in other railway stations under the NFR's jurisdiction. "On an average, the station generates around 150 to 200 kilograms of waste daily, which is initially dumped at a site near the railway station and later transported to the landfill by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now However, with proper awareness and waste segregation, the generated waste can be effectively recycled," Sharma said. He added, "This would allow for better utilisation of Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) and Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), which can then process the organic wet waste into compost, ultimately repurposing it as natural fertiliser. Once this becomes a success in this station, we will carry out similar operations in our other railway stations as well, and five stations under NFR have already been selected."
