Braves trade Stuart Fairchild to Tampa Bay
The Braves added Fairchild to their roster on March 31 after he'd been DFA'd by the Cincinnati Reds. He'd been with Atlanta since that time, outside of a brief IL stint in June.
In 28 games with Atlanta, Fairchild slashed a morbid .216/.273/.333 seeing action as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement in addition to the outfield. If he appears for the Rays, it will be the sixth team he will have played for since debuting in 2021.
Fairchild, 29, is a well-above average base-runner although his offensive output has been below average the last several season.
Fairchild had four doubles, a triple and two stolen bases with Atlanta.

Falcons catch break as Vikings WR suspended for Week 2 matchup
The Atlanta Falcons' 2025 schedule is no cakewalk, especially during the first half of the season. Four of their first five games are against teams that made the playoffs in 2024. However, one of those teams -- the Minnesota Vikings -- was just dealt a major blow. The NFL has suspended Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison for the first three games of the season for violating the league's "substances of abuse" policy, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That means Addison will miss his team's Week 2 matchup against the Falcons on Sunday night football. The former first-round pick has been a quality No. 2 option to Vikings star Justin Jefferson over the last two seasons. Addison's suspension also means quarterback J.J. McCarthy won't have one of his top weapons in his second career start. Addison recorded 70 catches for 911 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie in 2023. Last season, the 23-year-old finished with 63 catches for 875 receiving yards and nine touchdowns as the Vikings went 14-3. Minnesota did not re-sign quarterback Sam Darnold after his breakout year -- 4,319 passing yards and 35 touchdowns -- so McCarthy could take over in 2025. The Falcons passed on the former Michigan quarterback in favor of Penix in the 2024 NFL draft despite signing Kirk Cousins to a four-year contract in free agency. Check out the Falcons' updated 90-man roster as they prepare for Friday's preseason opener against the Detroit Lions. Speedway Classic home run car activated twice at Bristol Motor Speedway
Saturday and Sunday marked a day of firsts for MLB. The Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds played in the first Speedway Classic — the first game to take place inside a race track — at Bristol Motor Speedway. The game was suspended due to rain and resumed Sunday. Braves outfielder Eli White activated the game's home run car in the fifth inning when he crushed a three-run homer to left field. When he did, a Chevrolet Corvette zoomed around the track with a home run flag hanging out the window. You can watch it here. The car was activated a second time thanks to White when he homered for the second time. 'It's super special for me,' White told FOX sports after the game. 'It's just a great experience being here and just trying to soak it all in. And to be able to have a big day and come through the team is something I'll cherish for a long time.' The Braves went on to win, 4-2.
