Thousands set to descend on London as Lionesses' Euros celebrations continue
Supporters cheered with joy across the country as the team defended their Euros title with a penalty shootout win over Spain in the final in Basel, Switzerland, on Sunday.
The revelry is set to continue when the Lionesses and their head coach Sarina Wiegman make their way along the Mall near Buckingham Palace on the bus just after midday, with thousands of fans set to line the road to join in the celebrations.
There will also be a trophy ceremony at the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of the palace, hosted by former England right-back Alex Scott.
The free event is hosted by the FA, which has warned fans to plan their visit 'carefully' as they expect it to be very busy.
Mark Bullingham, chief executive of the FA, said: 'We are so proud of all of the players, Sarina and the support team who have all been part of this incredible achievement. They have all worked unbelievably hard and we know the nation shares our pride.
'The victory celebration in London on Tuesday will give England fans an opportunity to celebrate with the players, and be part of history.
'We've had amazing support from our fans both in Switzerland and at home throughout the tournament, and we look forward to celebrating together and creating some lifelong memories.'
The procession comes after celebrations on home soil began on Monday afternoon when the team landed at Southend Airport in Essex.
Hundreds of fans waited patiently to catch a glimpse of Wiegman's side and the trophy, which captain Leah Williamson held up in front of jubilant crowds, before the squad made their way to Downing Street for a reception hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and sports minister Stephanie Peacock.
Number 10 was decorated for the occasion, with St George's flags draped over windows and bunting along the railings.
Wiegman and some of her Lionesses spoke to the Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer via video call from the garden of No 10.
The Dutchwoman said 'hello Keir, nice to see you', adding 'it's lovely here'.
Sir Keir said: 'Fantastic to see you all and welcome to Downing Street. I just wanted to say a huge, huge congratulations to you and to the whole team.
'It was an absolutely amazing victory and you must've felt the eyes and ears of the whole country on you last night.'
At the reception, Wiegman congratulated her team and called for more investment in the women's game, saying: 'The team is just incredible, we won the Euros but making the final, we're already legendary, what the team has done and the team behind the team.'
Speaking a few hours before the Government announced a new package of measures to boost access to grassroots football, she added: 'This incredible team won the Euros and then straightaway sent a letter to you, the Government, asking for attention and asking for access to football for all girls.
'Steps have been taken but we're not done yet, we have to keep moving forward and we need a little bit more.'
On Monday night, the Government announced plans for priority access to grassroots football pitches for girls and women to be more than doubled.
As part of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport's proposals, prime time slots dedicated to women's and girls' teams at Government-funded facilities across England will be increased over the next five years to meet the expected increased demand after the Lionesses' dramatic win.
As well as the Prime Minister, the King also congratulated the European champions, saying in a statement posted on X: 'You have shown through your example over past weeks that there are no setbacks so tough that defeat cannot be transformed into victory, even as the final whistle looms.
'Well done, Lionesses.'
The Prince of Wales was spotted in the stands in Basel on Sunday applauding with those around him, including Princess Charlotte, and royal celebrations could continue as a trip to Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle may be arranged for the team as plans for a reception in the autumn are being explored by royal aides, it is understood.

Three Lions songwriter Frank Skinner, who released the song in collaboration with David Baddiel and the Lightning Seeds in 1996, has spoken about making money from the anthem Three Lions co-writer Frank Skinner has spoken about the profits from the football anthem following the Lionesses' victory in the Euro 2025 final last week. Frank was asked about Three Lions, which is known for the "it's coming home" chant, on an episode of the podcast Frank Off the Radio released yesterday. It came after a fan submitted a question about royalties from the song. Reading out the question submitted by a listener, his co-host Emily Dean asked: "Has David Baddiel made enquiries regarding any recent uptick in royalties?" Whilst addressing the question, Frank gave an insight into the situation. Responding, Frank said: "Um ... I ... no ... I don't know what's happening about the ..." Without finishing his previous comment, he told Emily instead: "As I always say, it's a myth that we made loads of money out of Three Lions." Emily said: "You once told me how much you made." Frank went on to say that the profits were worth an estimated £38,000 from Three Lions over a four year period, though he didn't specify when and if that was just his share. He said: "I think in total it was about ... I think it came out ... it was about 38 grand. Over four years." Frank continued by saying: "That's a lot of money, don't get me wrong! But, y'know, you imagine people get four Number 1s ..." His co-star Emily however shared that she had expected him to have made much more from the track. Comedian Sara Barron, who was a guest on the episode, suggested similarly and questioned why that hadn't been the case. Emily said: "I'll be honest, I thought it was about £4 million." Amid the discussion on the podcast, Sara then asked: "Yeah, why is it not £4 million?" Frank went on to tease: "Have you met my manager?" It isn't the first time that Frank has spoken about the financial impact of Three Lions. Asked about it on Radio X last year, he told Chris Moyles: "Honestly, I would say I made about £50,000 out of Three Lions." He added: "Seriously." Frank said at the time that he had a quarter of the profits from it. He also shared that he still gets a "kick" out of it when football fans sing Three Lions now, saying: "I do, yeah. Lucas Paqueta's lawyer claims gambling charges cost West Ham star Premier League medal
West Ham star Lucas Paqueta has been cleared of betting breaches after a two-year investigation by the Football Association and his lawyer has now spoken out about the situation Lucas Paqueta may have cleared his name over the gambling charges that have hung over him for the last two years - but the man who led the Brazilian's legal defence believes the episode has cost him a Premier League medal. Paqueta, 27, was on the brink of an £85million move from West Ham to Manchester City when it emerged that he was being investigated by the FA over suspicions that he had deliberately got himself booked in four different games as part of a spot-fixing sting. An independent commission ruled during the week that the FA had failed to prove their case - although two charges claiming that the midfielder failed to cooperate with the process were upheld. Now Alastair Campbell, a partner at the law firm Level, has revealed how the case has taken a heavy toll on Paqueta - despite the positive outcome. Campbell said: 'Lucas' life has basically been on hold for the last two years. 'He woke up every morning with the fear that this could be the day when his career was going to be over. Of course, Lucas is delighted with the outcome of the commission - but what shouldn't be forgotten is that there is an alternative universe where he moves to Manchester City and now has a Premier League winner's medal. 'The strain he has been under since the charges were announced in August 2023 has been incredible. That's something that shouldn't be forgotten in all of this. This case has come at a considerable cost to Lucas, both as a person and as a professional footballer.' Paqueta's legal team are now awaiting the commission's written findings before whether to appeal against the decision that he failed to give investigators the required help. There have also been suggestions that he could now sue the FA for damages. Campbell, however, accepts that the FA has a duty to make sure that the game they govern is clean. He said: 'I've seen suggestions that it's embarrassing for the FA, but I don't agree with that because their role as a regulator means they have to bring charges if they feel there's a case to answer. 'Lucas has now answered those charges and I am sure the FA's legal team will take some valuable lessons from this because that's what good lawyers do. The integrity of sport is paramount. 'We have to believe that what we are seeing on the pitch is genuine, so all governing bodies must monitor this kind of thing. The charges brought against Lucas were incredibly serious and that brings a requirement for real care to be taken. 'The sheer scale of evidence and information from both sides has been massive. That's why this has taken two years.' Campbell added: 'Lucas was very emotional when I told him about the decision. 'To have this weighing on his shoulders, knowing all along that he didn't do what he had been accused of, was unbearable at times. For him to still be able to play in front of 10s of thousands of people once or twice a week is remarkable. 'Given that mental strength, I think he will get past this issue pretty quickly and get back to being the fantastic player he is.'
