Barcelona likely to debut new away kit during Asian pre-season tour

Yahoo5 days ago
According to Mundo Deportivo, it has been learned that Barcelona will officially debut their new away kit for the 2025/26 season during their upcoming pre-season tour of Asia.
The club is expected to wear the fresh design for the first time in their friendly against Vissel Kobe, scheduled for Sunday, July 27th at the Noevir Kobe Stadium in Japan.
With the home kit already launched and proving to be a massive hit in terms of sales, attention now turns to the away strip.
The official release of the second kit is just around the corner, and Barça fans won't have to wait long to see it in action.
The club is considering debuting the new kit in the first match of the tour, mainly to avoid a colour clash with Vissel Kobe's traditional maroon shirts.
The sheath symbol in new kit
What makes this away kit even more special is its connection to basketball legend Kobe Bryant.
The shirt will feature 'The Sheath' symbol, famously associated with Bryant. Nike has used this emblem on its Kobe Bryant line since partnering with him in 2003.
The term 'Sheath' refers to the case that holds a sword. In an interview with Esquire, Bryant explained the meaning behind the symbol.
'The sword is talent, but the sheath is what contains it—life experience, discipline, and effort,' he said. This philosophy aligns with Barcelona's values of combining talent with hard work and determination.
On July 27th, at the Noevir Kobe Stadium, fans could witness this special kit on the pitch. For Barcelona, it would be a fitting tribute to a sporting icon while marking the start of a new season with fresh energy.

Barcelona star agrees long-term contract extension

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has agreed to the terms of a new long-term contract. The player in question? Jules Koundé. France international Koundé is for his part of course fresh off a stellar individual campaign in 2024/25. Thriving from his berth at right-back under the watch of new boss Hansi Flick, the former Sevilla man added a new attacking element to his game, en route to an impressive haul of four goals and eight assists in all competitions. And such exploits, evidently, did not go unappreciated behind the scenes in Catalunya's capital. This comes amid confirmation on the part of market insider Fabrizio Romano that, after a fresh round of negotiatons between the parties: 'Jules Koundé has agreed to sign new deal at Barcelona until June 2030, as expected. Agreement in place with the club and green light from Kounde's camp with Barça director Deco on it.' Conor Laird – GSFN

Rock Hill High School football team gives back with free youth camp

The Rock Hill High School football team is hosting a free youth camp Saturday, aimed at giving back to the community and fostering a positive culture within the team. Rock Hill High School names new head football coach The camp will take place near District 3 Stadium and is open to more than 100 elementary and middle school kids interested in playing football. This initiative comes after the team faced culture concerns last year, leading to the appointment of a new head coach, Leon Boulware. 'The culture has changed and shifted. The kids are working really hard for it,' said Boulware. He's been helping the teens unite after parents complained about the program and the culture. 'I noticed the kids didn't know each other well, so I took them to the team camp for three days and got away from Rock Hill,' the coach said. The team has a new bond and is giving back Saturday with a free football camp for more than 100 elementary and middle school kids who want to play football. 'These camps are expensive it costs a lot of money and parents don't have money to send kids to these camps,' said parent Brad Basselman. 'On my staff alone, I have three former NFL players,' Boulware said. 'It's important to see they're right here in this area they came from the same background.' The team is expecting changes on the field. 'The goal is to always win,' Boulware said. 'We are going to take it one week at a time.' The camp will be held between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. before it gets too hot.

WR Tre'Quan Smith visits Titans

The Titans met with a possible addition to their receiving corps on Friday. Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith visited with the team. Smith was a 2018 Saints third-round pick and spent five seasons in New Orleans before moving on to play one game for Denver in 2023. He signed with the Lions last year, but went on injured reserve in August and did not play at all during the regular season. Smith didn't have a catch with the Broncos. He had 131 catches for 1,764 yards and 18 touchdowns in 67 regular season games for the Saints. He also had five catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns in four playoff appearances.
