Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, the chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council; Hussain Abdullah Al Khouri, the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club; Omran Abdullah Al Nuaimi, the chairman of the championship's organising committee; and Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, the chairman of the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club, attended the opening board matches of the fifth round.
With 350 players from 60 nations, Issa Hilal Al-Hazami confirmed that the competition has a global aspect. According to him, the eighth edition's record-breaking attendance is a result of the exceptional work of the championship's working teams, members, and the club's board, which is headed by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi. He continued by saying that everyone has a big obligation to keep up this high level of organisation, which is comparable to international chess events.
He also emphasised the championship's many organisational, administrative, and technological advantages, as well as the priceless experience it provides national staff. Additionally, the competition takes place during the Year of Community in 2025. Interactive creative sessions from FUNN (Art) developed artistic awareness among youth, and Sharjah Museums Authority offered cultural workshops. The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination held awareness sessions on achievements of people of determination, and Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi School conducted workshops on the 'Year of Community'. Awareness and wellness lectures Lectures on nutrition and physical activity were delivered by the Ministry of Health and Prevention, and the SAAED Association offered a session on road safety. The Sharjah General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments gave religious lectures to reinforce spiritual values. Health and fitness activities Emirates Foundation – SANID ran a first aid workshop to enhance health awareness and emergency preparedness. University Hospital provided medical support twice a week with a nurse on duty, while Al Daleel Medical Centre conducted health checks and gave souvenirs to promote wellness. On the sports front, the Self-Defence Club offered physical sessions during 'I am athletic', and Al Hamriyah Sports and Cultural Club hosted swimming classes over two days. Community field visits The programme included visits to the Social Services Department in Sharjah and Al Hamriyah, as well as the Elderly Care Home, to foster compassion and social responsibility. The Department of Agriculture and Livestock supported the initiative by providing local dairy products from Mleiha Milk.

14 July 2025 18:27 ABU DHABI (WAM)The Higher Organising Committee of the Zayed Charity Run has announced the launch of its 2025–2026 season with a historic expansion across six global destinations: China, Brazil, the UAE, Egypt, the United States, and the first time, the race will be held in China, Brazil and Hungary, reflecting its growing humanitarian and sporting influence across three new race, inspired by the legacy of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, aims to promote giving, generosity, and social solidarity a press conference held at ERTH Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Lt. First launched in Abu Dhabi in 2001, the Zayed Charity Run expanded globally in 2005 with its first overseas edition in New York City and later in Cairo in 2014. The race supports patients with chronic illnesses, funds children's hospitals and research, and promotes health awareness and active lifestyles.
