Birmingham sign Brighton defender Cashin on loan

Birmingham City have completed the signing of defender Eiran Cashin from Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan deal. The 23-year-old centre-back becomes the seventh summer addition to Chris Davies' squad ahead of Birmingham's return to the Championship. Cashin was a product of Derby County's academy and made 144 appearances for the Rams before moving to Brighton in January. The former Republic of Ireland youth international featured twice as a substitute in the Premier League for the Seagulls - against Aston Villa and Brentford in April. Birmingham sign Japanese midfielder Fujimoto Birmingham appoint Jutkiewicz as attack scout Birmingham aim to reach Premier League next year - Wagner Birmingham are back in the second tier after a one-season absence having romped to the League One last season with a record points tally. Cashin said the transformation of the club - on the field and off it - backed by their high profile owners was something he wanted to experience. "You can see in the media, everything that's going on in the club, and you can see the trajectory and the way it's going," he said. "That's something that's hard not to buy into. "I know the owners, and the investment has been really good for the club, and I know the manager and his style of play, and the players that have come into the club recently have all been really positive." Cashin joins permanent additions Demarai Gray, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Kyogo Furuhashi and Kanya Fujimoto plus loan signings James Beadle and Tommy Doyle in moving to St Andrew's this summer. Blues begin their 2025-26 campaign with a home game against Ipswich Town, which is also the curtain raiser for the new Championship season, on Friday, 8 August. Transfers - July 2025

Liverpool left-back Beck joins Derby on loan

Derby County have confirmed the arrival of Liverpool left-back Owen Beck on a season-long loan. It is the 22-year-old's second loan move to a Championship club in as many years, having spent last season at Blackburn Rovers. Beck, who has also had previous spells at Dundee in the Scottish Premiership and Bolton in League One, joined Liverpool's youth set-up from Stoke City at Under-13 level and made his first-team debut for the Reds in the EFL Cup in October 2021. The former Wales Under-21 international made a solitary Premier League appearance for Liverpool off the bench in January 2024, but has not featured for the first team since. He becomes Derby's sixth summer addition and third to have played under Rams head coach John Eustace at Blackburn last season, with forward Andreas Weimann and centre-back Danny Batth both arriving on free transfers. Before Beck's arrival was confirmed, Eustace described him as "one of the most exciting full-backs in the country for his age at the moment". "He is a really exciting young player," Eustace told BBC Radio Derby. "There is a lot to improve and our job is to help develop him. "My job, and that of all the coaches, is that whenever a player comes to the football club, no matter how old or how young they are, they come into an environment where they are going to improve and get better." Man City set to re-sign Trafford for £27m

Manchester City are set to re-sign English goalkeeper James Trafford for £27m, two years after he left to join Burnley. The 22-year-old City academy graduate signed for the Clarets in July 2023 in deal worth up to £19m with add-ons. He impressed last season as Scott Parker's side won promotion back to the Premier League keeping 29 clean sheets across 45 Championship games and was named in the division team of the year. City had a buy-back clause for Trafford but also matching rights, allowing them to match any offer from another club. They have done so following a £27m bid from Newcastle and Trafford has opted for a return to Etihad Stadium. He will be the fourth goalkeeper at City manager Pep Guardiola's disposal, with Ederson, Stefan Ortega and Marcus Bettinelli already at the club. It is anticipated Trafford will challenge Brazil international Ederson, who has been first-choice goalkeeper for eight years, for the number one spot. Ederson is in the final year of his contract and has been linked with a move to Galatasaray but City haven't received any bids for him yet, while there are doubts about German Ortega. Trafford signed for City's academy in 2015 but never made a first-team appearance and spent time on loan at Accrington Stanley and Bolton Wanderers. Trafford is expected to sign a five-year contract at Etihad Stadium with the option for another year. More to follow.
