Nunez has been widely expected to leave Anfield this summer and the arrival of Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz would appear to have left him further down Arne Slot's pecking order. Liverpool retain an interest in Newcastle star Alexander Isak too and have seen a bid turned down for the Premier League striker. If the Reds are successful in landing the Sweden star, Nunez's position would appear to be even more untenable. And the Premier League champions are open to sanctioning more exits for some young players as manager Arne Slot continues to overhaul his squad to keep it in fighting contention for the Premier League title once again. Stephenson has featured in pre-season under Slot and has impressed Slot after being included in the pre-season tour to Asia, but he has interest from Dundee United , Swansea, Reading, Rotherham and Cardiff over a loan move. Past target's Spurs interest Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing up a player who almost moved to Liverpool, as they now look to replace Son Heung-Min. The legendary Spurs forward dropped the bombshell announcement on Saturday that he had made the decision to leave north London. The France international was of interest to Spurs in January, but spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, where he scored 10 goals in 22 appearances. Manchester United's pre-season tour of the US has drawn to a close but there is no end in sight to the speculation surrounding Ruben Amorim's squad in the transfer window Manchester United remain engaged in a tug of war with Newcastle United over their attempts to sign striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig - with the Toon submitting a bid to sign the Slovenia international amid fears that they will lose Alexander Isak to Liverpool. But United remain in the race with Newcatle's opening submission some way short of Leipzig's asking price. An offer exceeding £70m is set to be required for Sesko to depart the Bundesliga side. Ruben Amorim's team wrapped up their tour of the United States on Sunday night against Everton with new signing Bryan Mbeumo handed his debut. Garnacho feelings Ruben Amorim said he has no hard feelings over Alejandro Garnacho 's desire to leave Old Trafford for a new challenge. Winger Garnacho fell out with Amorim after he was dropped for the Europa League final, which United lost 1-0 to Tottenham in Bilbao. In the immediate aftermath of the defeat, Garnacho criticised Amorim's decision and said he would consider his future over the summer. Amorim responded by telling £40million-rated Garnacho he was not part of his future plans and left him off United's US tour, with several other players who want out of the club. After engaging in preliminary talks with the Bundesliga outfit, Arsenal chiefs soon found that any deal for the promising forward would be too expensive for a player who has yet to realise his full potential. The story reported that there were three main reasons for a deal for Sesko setting off "alarm bells" including the mammoth fee Leipzig were requesting as well as his own personal terms. Having only had two seasons in a European top-five league - where he scored 21 goals across all competitions last season - sources said the club were wary about the mental demands Sesko would have to endure of being the player leading the Arsenal attack and whether he'd be able to handle the scrutiny. Cut-price Rasmus Manchester United have opened the door to selling Rasmus Hojlund this summer and have set an asking price of £30million for their striker. United are pursuing a new forward, with RB Leipzig's £70m-rated Benjamin Sesko their top target, although they face competition from Newcastle for his signature. Hojlund could go the other way to Leipzig, as part of a player-plus-cash swap deal with Sesko, but the Denmark international is understood to not want to go to the Bundesliga club. Last season Hojlund, who joined United from Atalanta for £72m in 2023, scored 10 goals in all competitions and just four in the Premier League, underlining the need for a more prolific striker to lead their attack.

David Gray delighted as Hibernian respond to Midtjylland loss with win at Dundee
The Easter Road boss admitted it was a 'difficult' decision to make just one change to the side that started Thursday's extra-time defeat by Midtjylland in the Europa League. However, Gray was rewarded with a strong display as Kieron Bowie's first-half double proved enough to overcome a Dee side who pulled one back through Fin Robertson. 'I'm delighted because after everything the players put in Thursday night, everybody would be looking at today's game wondering would there be a hangover, how will the players react the first time they went Thursday-Sunday,' the manager said. 'The players reacted in the best possible way with a real professional performance. I thought we controlled the game from start to finish.' Gray was heartened to see recently-capped Scotland forward Bowie get off the mark so early in the campaign after he endured an injury-disrupted first season at Hibs. 'That's the reason he was brought to the club,' he said. 'He's suited to Scottish football as well, with the physicality, he really enjoys that side to the game. 'The confidence levels will be high with the Scottish recognition as well, which is fantastic for him on a personal note, but he's working hard every day, he's getting fitter, he's getting stronger and really benefiting from a strong pre-season.' Gray was typically coy when asked about the future of defender Lewis Miller, who is understood to be close to joining Blackburn. The Australian is currently recovering from injury. 'There has been interest in him, but right now he's still a Hibs player and until he's not, my focus is on trying to get him back on the pitch as quick as we can,' he said. Dundee boss Steven Pressley said he saw some 'green shoots' of recovery against the Hibees after his side's demoralising Premier Sports Cup group-stage exit last month. However, the 51-year-old, taking charge of a match in Scotland's top flight for the first time in 15 years, felt they were 'nervy' in possession and was keen to stress the scale of the task he inherited in June. 'Almost every single goal from the team of last season was not there today,' said Pressley, whose talismanic captain Simon Murray missed out with injury. 'It's a big rebuild. I'm not trying to pull the wool over anybody's eyes. 'There's a lot of hard work ahead. We probably need another six players in to bolster the squad and it's a real challenge.'
