NEOM McLaren driver Sam Bird recorded the fastest lap at the Tokyo E-Prix Round 9 and left the city with an extra point. He finished the Tokyo race in eighth position after setting the fastest lap time of 1:14.753s.
The driver is now gearing up for the upcoming
Shanghai race double-header
at the end of this month. With such a performance in Tokyo, he seems to have good things lined up for him in China.

P5 in my group with exactly the same time as @afelixdacosta but AFDC did it before me so went through P4 in group. Two hard races but we keep moving forwards and I'm excited for Shanghai.

Talking about his consistent performance on the track, Bird told McLaren in an interview, 'In this modern day and age, fitness and diet are very key elements of being a sportsman. You look back at the '80s, '90s, not so much, but now everybody's taking fitness and nutrition extremely seriously.'
