Dennis James presents ‘The Lost World'

Yahoo27-03-2025
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An organist who plays with two hands and two feet has dedicated his life to preserving silent film music scores.
Dennis James is joining the Binghamton Theater Organ Society on Sunday for 'The Lost World.'
Based on the book by Arthur Conan Doyle, the 1925 film The Lost World is a silent science fiction film that uncovers a land full of prehistoric animals. It was the inspiration for modern movies such as King Kong.
James has been playing the organ for over 50 years, becoming a professional when he was just 16 years old. He has always had an affinity for silent films as well.
James says he doesn't change anything about the original music, he plays it the way it was intended to be heard years ago.
'I'm doing it the way it was, and the films haven't died. When we do it the way it was meant to be, this is what movies are. Sound movies are not what movies are, movies were meant, were invited, to be done with live music. So, we're just doing show movies,' said James.
The performance will take place at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for veterans or members. Students can see the show for free thanks to the Early Owego Antique Center. To purchase, visit Binghamtontos.org.

Nikola Jokic's agent posts crytpic photos with LeBron James, Maverick Carter to tease ‘big plans'

If Nikola Jokic's agent was looking to raise some eyebrows, he certainly succeeded. Misko Raznatovic, the agent of the Denver Nuggets superstar, posted to Instagram a not-so-subtle post of himself on a yacht with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and his longtime business partner, Maverick Carter. The post is geotagged in Saint Tropez, France, though it's unclear when exactly the get-together took place. The Instagram post is additionally captioned, 'The summer of 2025 is the perfect time to make big plans for the fall of 2026!' The post and its timing certainly grab the attention of basketball fans everywhere, considering the implications it could have. James, 40, opted into his contract with the Lakers for this upcoming season, which he's set to make $52.6 million in, and it likely signals the end of his tenure with the Lakers, with whom he signed with in 2018 as a free agent and helped them win a title in 2020. And the agent to one of the biggest NBA stars on the planet meeting with James and his business partner would certainly lend more credence to the idea that James' time in Hollywood could be coming to a close. Speculation has continued and on Sunday, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that James' future in LA would come down to one major factor. 'It all really depends on how this coming season goes,' a source told the insider. 'We understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for the future,' Klein said in his statement last month. 'We do want to evaluate what's best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career. He wants to make every season he has left count, and the Lakers understand that, are supportive and want what's best for him.'

There's been plenty of speculation about the NBA future of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James this offseason, and things took a wild new turn on Saturday. The 40-year-old James, who exercised his $52.6 million player option earlier this offseason, has made it known through his agent Rich Paul that he wants to win at least one more championship before he retires. "LeBron wants to compete for a championship," Paul said, via Yahoo Sports. "He knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. Many analysts believe the likeliest scenario for James sees him playing 2025 in Los Angeles with a revamped Lakers roster that already featured Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura and added Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart, and Jake LaRavia, before moving onto a new team in 2026. Despite being the oldest player in the NBA, James is still one of the most productive players in the game. He ranked 13th in the league in scoring (24.4 points per game), and finished sixth in assists (8.2 per game) and 22nd in rebounds (7.8 per game) in 2024.

Oh Lord, ‘Peacemaker' Has Its Foxy Season 2 Song

One of the best, most everlasting parts of that first season of Peacemaker was its opening credits as the antihero and friends (and his dad) danced to 'Do You Wanna Taste It?' by Wig Wam. With season two less than a month out, everyone's been wondering what its song would be, and the answer is…'Oh Lord' by Foxy Shazam. During Saturday night's Peacefest at San Diego Comic-Con, James Gunn took to the stage to break the news, calling it a song 'from my favorite band in the world that is objectively the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world.' And sure enough, the rock band came on to perform their 2010 track. While neither the concert nor panel featured any glimpses at the new Peacemaker intro, Gunn said during the panel that Frank Grillo was a 'terrible dancer, but a trooper.' The actor, reprising his role as Rick Flag Sr. from Creature Commandos and Superman, said he was initially against it since he's 'a serious actor. [But] little by little, I became the best dancer out of everyone.' The others…didn't really see it that way, but he admitted to having fun 'watching Tim Meadows suffer.' The way Meadows tells it, he was the worst dancer out of all of them. 'Everybody expected me to be good, and I don't want to say why they expected me to be good, but I was horrible.' Conversely, returning actors Jennifer Holland and Freddie Stroma aced the dance, according to Gunn. He then said Peacemaker's pal Eagly will dance during the intro, and 'has a little pose this time.' If that sounds like your cup of tea, Peacemaker season two hits HBO Max on August 21.
