According to a report by news agency Reuters, the revelations – initially reported by Chinese state media – suggest that a Chinese-language

MaskPark tree hole forum
" distributed images of women secretly filmed or photographed in locations including public toilets. This particular group amassed over 100,000 anonymous members in China and overseas.
The report detailed that some users posted private images of their current or ex-girlfriends and female family members. Disturbingly, footage of women secretly filmed using pinhole cameras in public spaces was allegedly being sold within these chat groups.
Users typically rely on VPN software to access Telegram, which is blocked in the country. The Southern Daily report also revealed the existence of other Telegram sub-forums targeting Chinese-speaking users with pornographic content, some boasting up to 900,000 members.

How Chinese people reacted to leaked private photos and videos
The revelations quickly gained traction on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, with related hashtags garnering over 270 million views on Tuesday (July 26).

Telegram has said that 'the sharing of non-consensual pornography is explicitly forbidden by Telegram's terms of service and is removed whenever discovered.' A spokesperson added that moderators 'proactively monitor public parts of the platform and accept reports in order to remove millions of pieces of harmful content each day.' The main MaskPark forum has since been taken down, though some smaller sub-forums reportedly remain active.

Videos on Chinese social media showed a young girl named Lai being pummelled with kicks and slaps in China's Sichuan province. The culprits? Three other teenagers. The video shows Lai, the victim, being forced to kneel in front of her assailants. The incident, which occurred in July, was filmed by passers-by. Videos purportedly show Lai being hit with a stick. Lai warned her assailants she would call the police, only to be dismissed by her attackers. One of the girls said she they were not afraid, while another claimed she had been to the police station over 10 times. She added that she had been let off in under 20 minutes. Lai was left with multiple bruises on Lai's scalp and knees, according to the police. The three suspects, all female, are 13, 14 and 15. There are reports that the girl, Lai, had been bullied incessantly. Her mother, who is reportedly deaf, had been pleading with authorities to act. Those online have demanded more punishment for the teenagers who attacked Lai, particularly given the reports that the victim had been bullied for a while. 'The sentence is too light… that is why they were so arrogant,' one top-liked Weibo comment under the police statement read. Then, on Monday, over 1,000 protesters took to the streets in Jiangyou. Protests were held outside local government offices. The demonstrators gathered till well after midnight. How have authorities reacted? By cracking down on protesters. Things reportedly got bloody after the police used batons and cattle prods to disperse the crowd. Video footage taken outside the city hall showed at least two people forcibly pulled aside by a group of blue-shirted and plain-clothes police officers; a woman in a black dress was also dragged away by her limbs. 'They're sweeping away citizens everywhere,' a person can be heard saying on the video, as the woman is dragged away. More footage taken after dark showed the police wearing black Swat uniforms subduing at least three people at an intersection with hundreds of bystanders. On August 5, Jiangyou was the second top-trending topic on Weibo – China's version of X –before it and related hashtags were censored. Police also denied that the assailants were children of a lawyer and police inspector. They said two of the parents are unemployed, while two others are working outside the province. One is a local salesperson and another is a delivery driver, police added. On August 5, local authorities said on WeChat that the police had punished two people for fabricating information about the school bullying case, warning the public against spreading rumours. They said the posts have 'seriously disrupted public order and caused bad social impact'. A Shanghai-based lawyer wrote on Weibo, 'The penalty for causing minor injuries is too mild, while the physical and mental trauma suffered by victims is overlooked by the law, which leads to a significant imbalance in the protection of their rights". The protests saw demonstrators target police in Shaanxi province's Pucheng. Authorities claimed the teen died in an accident, but social media was rife with rumours of a cover up. In December, a court sentenced a teenage boy to life in prison and gave another a long prison term for murdering a classmate. The suspects, all aged under 14 at the time of the murder, were accused of bullying a 13-year-old classmate over a long period before killing him in an abandoned greenhouse and burying his body. South African national sentenced to 15 years for bringing 4kg heroin into India
Mumbai: Refuting the defence that he unknowingly carried the drugs after an agent sent him for football team trials in India, a special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) court convicted and sentenced a 34-year-old South African national to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment for importing nearly four kilograms of heroin into India in 2022. The case, which centred on a carefully planned operation by the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) following a tip-off, also resulted in a fine of Rs 1.50 lakh for the accused, Mapoma Lemao. The judge refuted the defence advocate's arguments that the contraband was subsequently planted, as it remained untraced even after Lemao went through mandatory checks at three airports: Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, and Mumbai. Special Judge PP Jadhav reasoned, "It has revealed that the contraband was concealed by creating a false cavity (of the bag) covered with plastic and cotton cloth. The contraband has missed in the strict checking on all three airports. This is not the first and last instance wherein the contraband is not traced in the mandatory checking." Lemao was found guilty of various offences under the NDPS Act for conspiring, importing, and possessing 3.980 kgs of heroin. A co-accused, Mwanyuki Musa, a Tanzanian national, was acquitted. The note said that he would either be carrying drugs in his bag or on himself. Lemao was apprehended, and a search was conducted. The heroin was recovered from a cavity in his bag, and he was arrested. During his statement, Lemao claimed he was promised a football trial in India by an agent named Faris. He stated that Faris handled his travel arrangements and asked him to carry the drugs, instructing him to deliver the consignment to a woman named Lyidi Jina at a hotel near the airport. Lemao also implicated his co-accused, Musa, stating that Faris had provided his details as a backup contact. Musa was subsequently intercepted by another NCB team on April 13, 2022, in Navi Mumbai. In his statement, which could not be proved in court, Musa allegedly claimed he was instructed by his business partner, a Tanzanian national named Zohoro, to receive a drug consignment from a South African traveller and send it to a woman in Delhi. Zohoro had provided him with a photo identity of Lemao. Despite the prosecution's claims against both men, the judge found Musa not guilty, leading to his acquittal.

TN man beheads three daughters, kills self
Namakkal: Unable to pay off his debts, a 36-year-old man beheaded three daughters aged 10, 7 and 6, and died by suicide by slitting his throat at his residence in Veppagoundanputhur village in Namakkal district in the early hours of Tuesday. According to the Mangalapuram police, the brutal crime was committed by M Govindaraj, a manager with a borewell firm. 'He had taken a loan of Rs20 lakh to start his own borewell firm and construct a new house. While he purchased machinery to start his own business, he couldn't roll it out. He was not in a position to repay the loan as well,' a police officer said. He said Govindaraj went to bed with his three daughters - Pratikshasree, 10, Rithikasree, 7, and Devasree, 6 – after dinner on Monday night. 'His wife Bharathi, 26, and one-year-old son Agneeswaran went to sleep in another room. Around 3am on Tuesday, Bharathi woke up to the screams of her daughters from the room the trio were sharing with her husband. When she tried to rush to their rescue, she found that her room's door was locked from outside. Her husband's body was found beside them with a knife in his throat,' the officer said. When alerted, the Mangalapuram police retrieved the bodies and transported them to the Namakkal Govt Medical College and Hospital at Rasipuram for postmortem. 'It seems Govindaraj took this extreme step as he was unable to repay the loan. Preliminary autopsy report suggests that Govindaraj has consumed poison as well. He later slit his throat with a knife to end his life,' said district superintendent of police S Vimala. The Mangalapuram police have registered a case. 'We are trying to find out additional motives, if any, behind the murders,' the officer said.
