Ella Toone's emotional tribute to late father moments after Euro 2025 final win

Ella Toone paid tribute to her late father Nick moments after England won Euro 2025, in what was the midfielder's first trophy since he passed away in September last year. Toone was in tears after England's shootout victory over Spain and looked towards the sky as she was hugged by Alessia Russo, Keira Walsh and Alex Greenwood. Toone later posted on Instagram that there happened to be a spare seat next to her mum during the final, adding: 'If that's not a sign I don't know what is'. The 25-year-old also uploaded a picture with Beth Mead, who lost her mother June to ovarian cancer 18 months ago, saying: 'We did it for our angels in the sky'. Toone and Mead have shared a special bond during the tournament by supporting each other through grief and posed with their Euro 2025 medals. 'My dad, I went up to see my family and my mum she said there was a spare seat next to her,' Toone later said. 'He was there and that was the sign I was looking for today. My family, my dad, everyone who has got me here today, they have been my support network from the very start.' Manchester United midfielder Toone is now a two-time European champion with England after starting the Euro 2025 final against Spain. 'The girls who have won twice, for the ones who've never won it before, I'm so happy for them,' captain Leah Williamson said. 'What an honour to be in this time. 'I believe it but I'm struggling. Everything we say, try and live by, we do, and every single person who shows up every time. We stuck to the game plan. 'So many players that have done so much, they give everything, before we even get to the football bit. 'I feel I should be saying something monumental, but I just don't have the words. I'm so proud, and I feel so lucky. Everyone turned up today, and that's what happens. It's staying home.'

Love Island fans slam show as ‘fix' as the girls put an end to villa divide and have huge group hug

LOVE Island viewers have slammed the show and branded it a "fix" after the girls appeared to settle the ongoing divide that has plagued their time in the villa. Throughout the series, the villa girls have been divided with two clear friendship groups emerging over the course of the ITV2 programme. 5 5 On one side have been Shakira, Toni and Yasmin who have been fiercely loyal to one another and stood by each other in times of need whilst Meg and Helena, as well as Megan, have made up the other half of the main villa divide. The two groups have failed to see eye-to-eye until they appeared to put their difference aside in an unexpected moment on the programme. Just days after a huge row about the divide ensued during the show's explosive Grafties, the ladies decided to hug it out and put an apparent end to the bubbling feud between them. But with less than a week to go until someone is crowned Love Island champion, fans have insisted that the moment was a product-led decision amid ongoing speculation that show bosses want Meg and Helena to come across better. Fans have insinuated the move was a calculated way for Meg to appear friendlier after she was called out by her co-stars for the way she had made them feel throughout the series. Writing on X, formerly Twitter, after the scenes were aired, one viewer said: "It's the producers fault, they have protected Helena/Meg, producers have been watching online comments & need to fix it." A second added: "It's so fake they are not even touching Shakira in the hug." The comments continued to flood in as another stated: "What a fix, why are the girls suddenly friends again." Another also highlighted how Shakira's decision to reunite with Harry would also be an unlikely move given the girls' apparent truce. Love Island rivals finally address bitter villa feud in explosive Grafties as fans slam show over 'rigged' edit A fifth viewer said: "Absolute joke!!! Shakira going back to harry and now everyone is sweet - rubbish, why are we normalising Harry's behaviour?" Just days ago, the girls locked horns as they confronted the divide head-on for the first time. In the scenes, the group saw a video of Toni and Shakira expressing their disdain for Meg after a number of clashes with the star. They also took issue with Helena and for her close bond with Meg. 5 5 In response, Meg appeared defensive and annoyed as she swiped at Toni and Shakira: "You two are crazy for saying all that about me!" Shakira then replied: "How? We had an argument that night?" Meg then told the pair that they were "fake" to her to which the girls insisted that "was the point". Toni said: "Meg, so are you. You act like you never say a bad word about anyone and then all we do is walk down the f***ing thing and you are like, 'look at them walking down the runway'." As Meg pleaded that she was the same to the pair in front of their face, Toni insisted she was not as the divide was soon addressed. Yasmin quickly jumped in to insist there had been a "divide" from the start as many of the Islanders appeared to nod in agreement. Toni stated that the divide came from Meg, Helena and Dejon not being "warm and welcoming" and for going off on their own and leaving others out of their conversations - namely her, Shakira and Yasmin. 5
