After hearing his friend and director friend Jennifer Kaytin Robinson's script of I Know What You Did Last Summer, Freddie Prinze Jr agreed to be a part of the film
I Know What You Did Last Summer, a new film in the cult franchise, is back to enthrall audiences. The movie, directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, premiered on the big screens today, July 18. The mystery thriller, known to keep fans on their toes, follows the 1988 film I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. The first movie, with the same title as the recently released one, opened in the theatres in 1997. What makes the 2025 version so special is that it marks the return of the original lead cast — Freddie Prinze Jr and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
But do you know that Freddie Prinze Jr was initially reluctant to appear in the project? But it was his friend and director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson who convinced him otherwise. The actor has revealed it himself, in a conversation with US Weekly.
Freddie Prinze Jr said, 'I was very hesitant to jump back in for a multitude of reasons. Some were creative, because I was not the same guy so I did not know what kind of character they were gonna want. I was worried they would not put much growth into it. So, I did not have any interest.
The 49-year-old added, 'And then my friend Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote and directed the movie, said, 'I know you are gonna say no, but let me just pitch you my version of this movie.' And she put so much thought and so much soul into Julie and Ray." That became the turning point and Freddie Prinze Jr agreed to be a part of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Previously, Jennifer Love Hewitt, in an interview with People magazine, admitted that returning to the film felt like a 'reunion". She shared, 'It felt like that moment where you are like, 'Oh my gosh, I have butterflies in my stomach and my heart is beating really fast because I have not seen this person in 150 years and now we are back, here we are.' "
Apart from Freddie Prinze Jr and Jennifer Love Hewitt, the new cast members are Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King

Linkin Park Won't Perform ‘One More Light' Live, ‘Too Sad to Play' After Chester Bennington's Death

Last Updated: The title track of the band's final album with late lead singer Chester Bennington is off the setlist for their current tour. Linkin Park won't perform One More Light live because it's 'too sad to play". The title track of the band's final album with late lead singer Chester Bennington – who took his own life in 2017 – is off the setlist for their current tour as it brings up too many memories of Chester. The band's co-founder Mike Shinoda explained to The Guardian newspaper: '[It was originally written] for a woman at the label that we worked with who passed away. Then after Chester passed, the world decided that it was about him. And so that's just too sad to play." After Chester's death, Mike took time out from Linkin Park and tried to process his grief through writing the solo album Post Traumatic. He explained he 'wanted to make Post Traumatic as a diary of how I felt for myself", [but also had the urge to play live] 'to provide an area for fans to commune and go: 'Oh, Mike is still here. We didn't lose everybody.'" While Mike found the tour helpful, 'in the beginning", he could not wait to end it as it started to get 'exhausting", trying to deal with the grief of the fans. He said: 'And then towards the end it was exhausting. I had started to … I don't want to say move on. 'Move on' to some people means not looking back and forgetting – that's completely not how I felt. I felt like I was coping well and I was able to get up in the morning and not think about it, and I was evolving from the terrible stuff that had happened. Then I would go to the show and spend 90 minutes with half the crowd crying. And I'm like, this is f****** exhausting. You know how therapists see patients all day and help them, but then they need therapy themselves? That's how I felt." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Saiyaara Director Mohit Suri Reveals Why Aneet Padda Was Chosen: 'She Was Untouched By...'

Last Updated: Mohit Suri reveals why he cast Aneet Padda in Saiyaara, sharing that her natural look and authentic vibe stood out in an age of cosmetic alterations. Filmmaker Mohit Suri has opened up about the process of casting Big Girls Don't fame Aneet Padda in Saiyaara, where she stars opposite debutant Ahaan Panday. While the film is basking in audience love and raking in impressive box office numbers, Suri reveals that finding Aneet wasn't an easy task—it took nearly five months. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Mohit shared that the role demanded a young woman between 20 to 22 years old, someone untouched by cosmetic procedures—something he admitted was 'rare in today's age." 'That was a major requirement," he said. 'I didn't expect it to be such a bigger requirement. Not only that, I needed someone who felt real, someone who hadn't something to themselves. She had done some work before, and she was brilliant at it." Mohit said Aneet's authenticity made her perfect for the role of a middle-class Punjabi girl from Amritsar. 'She just fit right in," he said, adding, 'We often have the wrong idea of what small-town India is like—they're actually more conventionally 'out there' than we are. She had more to share with me than I had with her." Aneet reportedly auditioned for several filmmakers prior to Saiyaara, including Anurag Kashyap and Kunal Deshmukh. Even YRF's casting head Shanoo Sharma had vouched for her talent. 'That's when I knew she was good," Mohit said. As for her performance, Suri believes Aneet is 'predominantly a great actor," especially for the layered role she was entrusted with in the emotionally charged romantic drama. Meanwhile, Saiyaara has proved to be a sleeper hit at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected ₹24 crore on its second day (Saturday), taking its two-day total to ₹45 crore. It opened with ₹21 crore on Day 1, surpassing the collections of big-budget projects like Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, Akshay Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2, and Ajay Devgn's Raid 2. Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday's chemistry and Mohit Suri's signature emotional storytelling have clearly struck a chord with audiences across the country.
