Sky star Angel Reese hits impressive mark with double-double vs. Wings

The post Sky star Angel Reese hits impressive mark with double-double vs. Wings appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Chicago Sky have started to get back on their feet after a disastrous start to their season, and the improved play of Angel Reese is a big reason why. After an inefficient, turnover-filled start to her season, Reese has settled in and become a much more effective offensive player while maintaining her elite production on the glass. Advertisement That was on full display on Wednesday night for the Sky, as Reese led them to a convincing 87-76 win over the Dallas Wings in front of their home fans in Chicago. Reese had another productive night in the win, tallying 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting to of with 11 rebounds. This marks Reese's seventh double-double in a row, so she has been on a tear of late as the Sky get ready for the All-Star break. The former LSU star still turned the ball over five times in this game, so she still needs to improve in that area. However, she is a bit overtasked as a ballhandler on a Sky team that doesn't have a lot of standouts in the backcourt or elite spacing, so that makes it much tougher for a big like Reese to operate with the ball without coughing it up here and there. Still, that does not take away from what Reese has done for Chicago on the interior. She has become a force that is at the top of the opposing scouting report each and every night that teams get ready to face the Sky, and has still been able to have some even bigger games than the strong performance against Dallas. Advertisement For example, she posted an incredible line of 24 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists on June 29 in a win against the Los Angeles Sparks, marking one of the best games by anybody in the WNBA this season. Reese's performance is made even more impressive by the fact that she nearly didn't even suit up for this game due to a leg injury. However, she was still able to give it a go alongside Kamilla Cardoso, who returned to the lineup in this game. This win gets the Sky up to 6-13 on the season, so they still have a long way to go to climb back into the playoff picture. However, more games like this one from Reese could be just what they need to make a run during the second half of the season. Sky star Angel Reese credits this MVP hopeful for improving her game

The post Sky star Angel Reese credits this MVP hopeful for improving her game appeared first on ClutchPoints. It's been an up and down season thus far for the Chicago Sky, who currently sit at 7-13 ahead of Monday evening's matchup against the Minnesota Lynx. Despite this, Angel Reese has been playing the best basketball of her young WNBA career over the last couple of weeks, becoming a force on both sides of the ball and improving her efficiency in the process. Advertisement Recently, Reese spoke on Lynx star and WNBA MVP hopeful Napheesa Collier, whom she will match up against on Monday night after they previously played on Saturday, and how she has helped her to improve her game. 'She is one of the best. I love playing one of the best players. She worked with me all offseason — her and Alex worked with me all offseason on my game. And kudos to them, because they helped me a lot… staying poised, staying patient. That's why I trust in my work,' said Reese, per Winsidr on X, formerly Twitter. Reese also spoke on Collier's Unrivaled Basketball league, which she founded along with fellow WNBA star Breanna Stewart, as being a big help in her offseason improvement. A resurgent season for Angel Reese Two aspects of the game that were never a question for Angel Reese were her defense and rebounding, both of which made her a star during her college days with the LSU Tigers. Advertisement Still, concerns about her efficiency and perceived lack of outside shooting ability at times caused some fans to wonder what her ceiling in the WNBA truly would be. However, over the last few weeks, Reese has put those concerns to bed, consistently putting up mammoth statlines on solid efficiency and even showing some willingness to let the ball fly from the perimeter. All the while, her defense and rebounding prowess have remained as stellar as ever, helping her turn into one of the most imposing players in the league, and earning a WNBA All-Star nod in the process. The Sky have just two more games before the All-Star break, which will include All-Star game on Saturday, July 19.
