Nature classroom on wheels: Eco-Savaari to strengthen environmental stewardship among students across Karnataka
This programme is designed to foster a deep appreciation for wildlife conservation, environmental protection, and biodiversity among students and rural communities in South Karnataka, according to a release by Tekion.
Popular South Indian actor Pranitha Subhash and Tekion's Chief People Officer Rana Robillardflagged off the specially customised mobile unit in Bengaluru on June 30 in the presence of students of a government school. This initiative is set to benefit over 10,000 students across Karnataka, according to the release.
'Environmental protection is the urgent need of our time, and there is no better way to secure our future than by instilling the values of conservation in our youth,' said Rana Robillard.
Bridging gap between nature and students
'Eco-Savaari' is a mobile classroom on wheels, uniquely designed to bridge the gap between students and nature. 'This programme uses a specially customised vehicle to bring interactive learning experiences directly to schools, rural communities, and people staying in the forest-fringe areas,' explained Harsha Tej, Founder & Director of the BlueDot Foundation.
Mr. Aravind Gowda, Senior Director of Communications at Tekion, said: 'This programme will reach over 300 schools across Karnataka, delivering region-specific and practical conservation knowledge to promote positive human-nature interactions and awareness.'
In the first phase (6 months), the programme will address region-specific problems: Water resources management in Kolar and Chikkaballapura districts, animal-human conflict in Ramanagara district, pollinators and agro-biodiversity in Tumakuru district, waste and habitat management in Bengaluru urban district and co-existence in semi-rural and forest fringes in Bengaluru rural district. The programme will be extended to the rest of Karnataka in phases, the release states.
