Pentagon press secretary has a ‘long history' of bigoted social media posts and now faces calls to resign
Jewish organizations have blasted the appointment of Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson, who compared the murders of Israeli infants during the October 7 Hamas attacks to abortion. She has also peddled the antisemitic conspiracy theory about Leo Frank, a Jewish businessman who was wrongly convicted and hanged for the murder of a 13-year-old Georgia girl in 1951.
The 26-year-old MAGA supporter, whose father is longtime Trump advisor and right-wing commentator Steve Cortes, joined the Pentagon's press office in January. A review of her social media activity by the outlet Mother Jones revealed 'a long history of bigoted, xenophobic, and deliberately provocative' posts.
In one post, Wilson supports the racist, xenophobic and long-debunked Great Replacement theory — the idea that there is a plot to replace white Americans with non-white immigrants, Mother Jones reported.
A post falsely claiming that Frank, 'raped & murdered a 13-year-old girl' and 'tried to frame a Black man for his crime' remained on Wilson's personal X account.
Wilson was responding to a post last year by the Anti-Defamation League that marked the anniversary of Frank's lynching 'by a hate-filled mob in Georgia after being falsely accused & unjustly convicted of murder in a trial marred by antisemitism.'
'Anyone who posts antisemitic conspiracy theories lifted right out of the neo-Nazi playbook should not be in public office,' Jewish civil rights group the American Jewish Committee, posted in a statement Wednesday. 'Kingsley Wilson, newly appointed @DepPressSecDOD, is clearly unfit for her role.'
The Independent has contacted Wilson and the Department of Defense for comment.
Republican and Democratic lawmakers also rebuked Wilson's posts.
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wilson was 'completely off-script' with President Donald Trump. 'I'm not gonna tell them who to hire, but I do know that Trump doesn't believe any of the things she's talking about, and I'll leave it up to them to determine if they think she's the right spokesperson,' Graham told Politico.
Sen. Deb Fischer of Nebraska told the outlet that Wilson's remarks were 'horrible' and 'just not appropriate.'
'Sometimes people think they're anonymous when they're on social media, that they can comment or post on whatever may be their attitude at the time, and then they later regret it,' the Republican said.
Democratic congressman Ritchie Torres called Wilson out for a post she wrote about Kosovo at the end of February, signaling her support for Russia. Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008.
'Kingsley Wilson, the Deputy Press Secretary for the Department of Defense, is shamefully attempting to delegitimize Kosovo, which has been the single greatest American ally in the Western Balkans,' the congressman wrote on X.
'No amount of historical revisionism can change the fundamental fact that Kosovo is and will always be an independent democracy.'
Unvetted appointments such as Wilson's at the Pentagon have raised red flags for some GOP members. 'We've got enough real, serious challenges from outside without having to worry about Pentagon staff who like to spread antisemitism or Russian propaganda,' a senior Republican congressional aide told Politico on the condition of anonymity. 'I'm amazed at who this administration has been willing to trust with national security responsibilities.'

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Elon Musk said he's carrying out his threat to form a new political party after his fissure with President Donald Trump, announcing the America Party in response to the president's sweeping tax cuts law. Musk, once an ever-present ally to Trump as he headed up the slashing agency known as the Department of Government Efficiency, broke with the Republican president over his signature legislation, which was signed into law Friday. As the bill made its way through Congress, Musk threatened to form the 'America Party' if 'this insane spending bill passes.' 'When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,' Musk said Saturday on X, the social media company he owns. 'Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.' The formation of new political parties is not uncommon, but they typically struggle to pull any significant support away from the Republican and Democratic parties. But Musk, the world's richest man who spent at least $250 million supporting Trump in the 2024 election, could impact the 2026 elections determining control of Congress if he is willing to spend significant amounts of money. His reignited feud with the president could also be costly for Musk, whose businesses rely on billions of dollars in government contracts and publicly traded company Tesla has taken a hit in the market. It wasn't clear whether Musk had taken steps to formally create the new political party. Spokespeople for Musk and his political action committee, America PAC, didn't immediately comment Sunday. As of Sunday morning, there were multiple political parties listed in the Federal Election Commission database that had been formed in the the hours since Musk's Saturday X post with versions of 'America Party' of 'DOGE' or 'X' in the name, or Musk listed among people affiliated with the entity. But none appeared to be authentic, listing contacts for the organization as email addresses such as ' wentsnowboarding@ ″ or untraceable Protonmail addresses. Musk on Sunday spent the morning on X taking feedback from users about the party and indicated he'd use the party to get involved in the 2026 midterm elections. Last month, he threatened to try to oust every member of Congress that voted for Trump's bill. Musk had called the tax breaks and spending cuts package a 'disgusting abomination,' warning it would increase the federal deficit, among other critiques. 'The Republican Party has a clean sweep of the executive, legislative and judicial branches and STILL had the nerve to massively increase the size of government, expanding the national debt by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS,' Musk said Sunday on X. His critiques of the bill and move to form a political party mark a reversal from May, when his time in the White House was winding down and the head of rocket company SpaceX and electric vehicle maker Tesla said he would spend 'a lot less' on politics in the future. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who clashed with Musk while he ran DOGE, said on CNN's 'State of the Union' on Sunday that DOGE's 'principles' were popular but 'if you look at the polling, Elon was not.' 'I imagine that those board of directors did not like this announcement yesterday and will be encouraging him to focus on his business activities, not his political activities,' he said. Elon Musk's proposed America Party is already attracting the attention of the ultra-rich
Just a day after former White House advisor Elon Musk claimed on X that he's creating a new political party in the US, some deep-pocketed figures have offered support and potential interest. Replying to an X post that said the America Party would offer "independence from the two-party system," billionaire Mark Cuban and investment banker Anthony Scaramucci both replied to Musk, providing some possible next steps. After celebrating the America Party announcement post with emojis, Cuban said that he works with the Center for Competitive Democracy and could help get Musk's party on ballots. Top West Bank sheiks propose, recognizing the state of Israel, leaving Palestinian Authority: letter
A group of five top Palestinian officials in the West Bank's Hebron district said they are willing to leave the Palestinian Authority and join the Abraham Accords, recognizing the state of Israel. The sheikhs penned a letter to Israeli Economy Minister Nir Barkat, expressing their desire to transform The West Bank's largest district into an emirate that 'recognize[s] the State of Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people,' the Wall Street Journal reported. If all goes well, the zone would grow to 5,000 more residents and then 50,000, with the sheikhs pledging to a 'zero tolerance' policy against terrorism. Jabbari accused the PA of supporting terrorist activity in the West Bank. 'I plan to cut off the PA,' Jaabari vowed. 'It doesn't represent the Palestinians.' 5 It remains to be seen how a deal can move forward under Israeli occupation, where clashes between residents of soldiers are common. The formation of the new zone could also cause problems along the illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, but the sheikhs claim the land disputes can be easily negotiated. Jabbari and his colleagues assured Barkat that they will be able to drum up support for the proposal, touting it as the only hope to prevent Hebron and the West Bank from becoming another Gaza. Jabbari maintains that his proposal is the best solution for his people given that Hamas crushed all hopes for a Palestinian state when it attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 1,200 people and kidnapping another 251. 'There will be no Palestinian state — not even in 1,000 years. After Oct. 7, Israel will not give it,' Jabbari said.
