Brooklyn Beckham sparks debate with lavish holiday

News.com.au5 days ago
Brooklyn Beckham, the son of David and Victoria Beckham, has caused a divide by going on a lavish holiday.
The 26-year-old is the eldest son of Victoria and David Beckham and is famously married to billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz-Beckham.
As one does when marrying into a billionaire dynasty, he has reportedly been spending time in Europe on Project X, an $85 million superyacht that costs $1.2 million per week to charter.
There's even been some photos of him sauntering around on deck, looking very tattooed and trying to slip in some promo for his hot sauce brand while he whizzes around on a jetski.
It isn't just candid shots that are making the rounds; Brooklyn and his heiress wife have been posting up a storm on social media.
The couple enjoying their lavish vacation, though, hasn't gone down well with everyone, actually some people are offended by it.
The eldest Beckham offspring couldn't just post his holiday photos in peace, sure some people called him and his wife 'stunning' but others were arguing over if he deserved such a fancy retreat.
One claimed the photos came across as 'spoiled', another said Brooklyn's holiday was simply a sign of 'too much money', and lots of people touched on Brooklyn's ever-changing career path.
'They seem bored like they have absolutely nothing to do,' one claimed.
'This is what happens when people don't have jobs,' another claimed.
'Brooklyn do you have a job?' another asked.
'The caption being 'forever summer' …..Like yeah babe, you're both unemployed,' someone else joked.
'I would suggest you both take a year out, do charity work in a remote place, and find your grounding,' another remarked.
Brooklyn who has over 16 million followers on social media describes himself as an 'entrepreneur' which is deeply true, the man is not afraid to take a career risk.
Over the years, he has gained notoriety for his attempts to forge his own path to varying degrees of success.
When he was 18, he released a photography book featuring a blurry photo of an elephant and a caption explaining that the photo wasn't very good because elephants are 'so hard to photograph'.
Three years later, he decided to ditch photography and he became a chef.
He didn't do anything drastic like go to TAFE or work in a kitchen; instead, he appeared on a morning breakfast show in the UK, called himself a 'foodie,' and then gave a lengthy tutorial on making bacon, egg, and sausage sandwiches.
In 2022, Brooklyn decided to give the role of bartender a crack and described himself as a 'nutter in the kitchen' and then made a standard gin and tonic, leaving the internet cackling at his expense.
He has kept at the whole cooking thing and went viral in 2023 because he posted a video on his Instagram showing him using a blowtorch to make a grilled cheese sandwich, which fans thought was slightly overkill.
In 2024, he went viral when Nicola revealed that she fired Brooklyn for his cameo role in her directorial debut, Lola.
'He had one line, 'Hi,' but he kept saying it in a British accent, and he was staring directly into the camera. I was like, 'oh God, we have to move on, good Lord',' she said.
Brooklyn has now pivoted to small business owner and has launched his own hot sauce line called Cloud23.

Incredible sight as snow covers Aussie towns

Vehicles have been bogged, phone service cut, and thousands of residents are expected to be without power for at least another 24 hours after heavy snow blanketed parts of NSW. Parts of the state's Northern Tablelands recorded heavy snowfalls of up to 40cm at the weekend, according to the Bureau of Meteorology. BOM meteorologist Helen Reid said the snow was generated by 'a pool of cold air' that moved in over the towns of Guyra, Armidale, Uralla and Walcha. 'Many locations saw as much as 20 to 40cm of snow, with snow tending to be quite heavy at times during Saturday afternoon,' she said. Homes in Walcha experienced some of the heaviest snowfalls in decades. supplied Credit: Supplied 'In Queensland, snow flurries were observed across parts of the Darling Downs … these amounted to very little on the ground.' Uralla's Bolt Inn, a popular local pub, became a shelter for those seeking refuge from the icy conditions on Sunday. 'Due to the snowstorm in Uralla, the Bolt Inn will be closed until further notice as we currently have no power,' a post on the pub's Instagram account read. The Bolt Inn welcomed local residents in to seek refuge from the snow. The Bolt Inn / Instagram Credit: Supplied 'We're sheltering people on floors and chairs throughout the pub, and with many road closures we are staying safe inside.' Others were more keen to get out and make the most of the snow, with footage posted by a Guyra local showing a person skiing on the 'slopes' of the town's golf course. 'A huge thank you to our amazing staff who are here helping to keep everyone safe and warm,' the caption read. NSW SES responded after treacherous conditions left drivers stranded on snow-covered roads NSW SES Assistant Commissioner Nicole Hogan said emergency services in the New England area were responding to treacherous traffic conditions caused by 'black ice', a term used to describe the formation of slippery, transparent ice over roads. 'We have road crash crews propositioned and ready to respond to any rescues, but we ask the community to please avoid unnecessary travel,' she said. 'If you do need to be on the roads in areas with snow, drive with caution, always use your brakes gently and drive slowly.' The NSW SES reported more than 100 vehicles got stuck on the New England Highway as heavy snow made driving on almost impossible. More than 6000 homes across Walcha, Guyra, Uralla and Armidale remain cut off from the power grid according to Essential Energy. This is down from the peak of 11,000 reported on Sunday morning. An Essential Energy spokesperson said crews were hoping to continue repairs on Monday morning, weather permitting. Road conditions have become hazardous across the New England tablelands. supplied Credit: Supplied 'There is a large amount of reconstruction work required in some areas to rebuild areas of the network that have been damaged during the storms over the weekend,' they said. 'That includes the replacement of power poles. 'Helicopters and additional crews are ready to come in to support as soon as it's safe to do so.' The company also urged residents to stay away from downed power lines. Mobile phone outages have also been widely reported across the area, some of which are expected to last until late on Tuesday. In a message on their live outage tracker, Telstra said the severe weather' had caused widespread outages across the state's north. 'We're working to get everything back online ASAP. Thanks for your patience,' it read.

TikTok removes video by beauty mogul after anti-Israel conspiracy theories

Your web browser is no longer supported. To improve your experience update it here TikTok this week removed an inflammatory anti-Israel video posted by celebrity beauty mogul and influencer Huda Kattan. Kattan, the founder and face of the billion-dollar brand Huda Beauty, shared a video to her more than 11 million followers on TikTok, accusing Israel of orchestrating World War I, World War II, the September 11 terrorist attacks and Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7. World War I (1914-1918) and World War II (1939-1945) both occurred before the State of Israel was established in 1948. Huda Kattan's now-deleted TikTok video aired numerous conspiracy theories surrounding Israel. (CNN) "All of the conspiracy theories coming out and a lot of evidence behind them — that Israel has been behind World War I, World War II, September 11, October 7 — they allowed all of this stuff to happen. Is this crazy?" Kattan said on camera in her since-removed TikTok post, which included other unfounded claims about Israel. "Like, I had a feeling — I was like, 'Are they behind every world war?' Yes." A representative for TikTok confirmed to CNN that it removed Kattan's video for violating its community guidelines. "In a global community, it is natural for people to have different opinions, but we seek to operate on a shared set of facts and reality," TikTok's community guidelines state. "We do not allow misinformation that may cause significant harm to individuals or society, regardless of intent." Kattan's agency did not respond to CNN's request for comment. A manager listed on public databases as a representative for Kattan was contacted by CNN and said in an email that they no longer represent her. Kattan's video has spurred calls across social media and among Jewish groups for retailers like Sephora to cut ties with her popular beauty brand, Huda Beauty, which was valued at $1.2 billion (around $AU 1.8 billion) in 2017 and brings in roughly $309 million in annual sales, according to Forbes. A pro-Palestine march in Sydney yesterday drew tens of thousands of protestors. (Janie Barrett) A representative for Sephora has not responded to CNN's request for comment. This is not the first time the beauty influencer has faced calls for boycotts due to her public commentary after October 7. Kattan, whose company has over 57 million followers on Instagram, has been an outspoken critic of Israel and a staunch supporter of Palestinians in Gaza. Within a week of Hamas attacking Israel on October 7, 2023, an Israeli Instagram user threatened to boycott her products, to which Kattan replied: "I don't want blood money." In response to that comment, a petition was launched and received over 30,000 signatures, calling on Sephora to remove Huda Beauty products from its stores. Kattan's most recent TikTok video drew swift backlash from Jewish groups. Protestors in Tel Aviv, Israel, this weekend left photos of hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023. (CNN) "Huda Kattan built a brand around beauty — but these antisemitic conspiracy theories are nothing short of ugly hate," said Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League. "Spreading vile myths about Jews to millions of followers isn't just reckless — it's dangerous." The American Jewish Committee posted Kattan's since-removed TikTok video on social media, writing, "Huda Kattan, founder of Huda Beauty, is using her massive platform to spread vile antisemitic conspiracy theories — accusing Jews of harvesting the organs of Palestinians, causing 9/11, and running global pedophile rings. "This isn't 'criticism of Israel.' It's centuries-old hate, repackaged and broadcast to millions." "Retailers have a choice," said Ari Hoffnung, managing director of the Jewish nonprofit, JLens, "They can continue to platform a brand whose founder promotes hate-fueled conspiracy theories, or they can take a stand against antisemitism." Forbes included Kattan on their 2023 list of America's Richest Self-Made Women and on their list of Most Powerful Women in Business in 2024. Sister of Liam Neeson's late wife Natasha Richardson reacts to his ‘budding romance' with Pamela Anderson

Liam Neeson's new love appears to have his former sister-in-law's approval. Pamela Anderson took to Instagram on Friday, August 1, to share a carousel of sweet photos of herself posing with Neeson to promote the release of their new movie together. 'The Naked Gun is finally in theatres!' Anderson, 58, wrote. 'Bring your friends, family, lovers… whoever… just go and have a laugh… It's good for you! I'll see you there.' Natasha Richardson's sister, Joely Richardson, then shared seven red heart emojis in the comments section of Anderson's post. Joely's apparent support for Neeson's rumored romance with Anderson excited many of the former 'Baywatch' star's fans, and several took to the comments section to share their reactions. 'Classy and loving as always,' one person wrote underneath Joely's comment. 'Very sweet of you,' added another, while a third commented, 'Okay, this is everything.' Neeson, 73, married Joely's sister, Natasha Richardson, in 1994 after the pair met and worked together on the Broadway revival of 'Anna Christie' one year earlier. Before striking up a relationship with Richardson, the 'Taken' star had dated Helen Mirren and Barbra Streisand. Neeson and Richardson went on to welcome two sons together: Micheál, now 30, and Daniel, now 28. But tragedy struck in March 2009 when Richardson passed away from a traumatic brain injury she suffered during a skiing accident in Quebec. The beloved 'Parent Trap' actress was 45. Neeson later opened up about his wife's passing and the grief he endured during an interview with '60 Minutes' in 2014. 'Grief hits you. It's like a wave,' he told host Anderson Cooper at the time. 'You just get this profound feeling of instability. You feel like a three-legged table. Just suddenly, the Earth isn't stable anymore.' 'And then it passes and becomes more infrequent, but I still get it sometimes,' the 'Star Wars' actor added. Then, in October 2024, Neeson claimed that he was done dating. 'No, in a word,' he told People last year. 'I'm past all that.' But that appeared to change when the Oscar-nominated actor and Anderson met and began working together on Seth MacFarlane's 'The Naked Gun' reboot. 'With Pamela, first off, I'm madly in love with her,' Neeson, also in October 2024, said. 'She's just terrific to work with.' 'I think I have a friend forever in Liam, and we definitely have a connection that is very sincere, very loving, and he's a good guy,' Anderson told Entertainment Weekly last month. The pair both brought their sons to the NYC premiere of 'The Naked Gun,' and then pretended to make out on live TV during a July 29 appearance on 'Today.' Insiders have since claimed that Neeson and Anderson are dating and 'enjoying each other's company.' 'It's a budding romance in the early stages,' a source told People in July. 'It's sincere, and it's clear they're smitten with each other.' 'It's very sincere how they feel,' another insider told Page Six. 'That is the truth.' 'They're not going to show up on the red carpet and be adorable just to be fake, that's not either of them,' they added. 'This is happening in real time, here and now, so I don't know what things look like moving forward.' The Post has reached out to Neeson and Anderson's reps for comment.
