AD Ports JV's LNG-powered vessel makes maiden call at Khalifa Port
As the JV's inaugural deployment, the arrival of UGR Al Samha marks the beginning of United Global Ro-Ro's vision to provide sustainable, efficient, and high-capacity Ro-Ro logistics across global trade routes.
Utilising Khalifa Port as its hub the deep-sea vessel is strengthening and supporting feedering links across an already robust network.
The state-of-the-art vessel with a cargo capacity of more than 7,000 car equivalent units (CEU) across 12 decks, is meticulously designed to optimise high & heavy cargo transportation serving vital markets across the Middle East, Asia, and the Mediterranean.
By combining LNG propulsion technology, advanced vessel design and strategic port integration, United Global Ro-Ro offers customers an economically viable and environmentally responsible shipping solution, while the vessel's reduced emissions align with the UAE's decarbonisation targets and the partners' commitment to cleaner shipping.
Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, the CEO of Maritime & Shipping Cluster, AD Ports Group, said the maiden call of UGR Al Samha at Khalifa Port is not just a milestone for United Global Ro-Ro, but a significant step forward in the group's strategy of investing in vessels and technologies which reduce its impact on the environment.
"With this vessel now in active service, we are enhancing our ability to provide competitive, reliable Ro-Ro solutions to global trade partners in an eco-conscious manner," he stated.
Tolga Emrah Gezgin, the CEO of United Global Ro-Ro (UGR), said: "We are pleased to successfully complete our first voyage at Khalifa Port, marking the initial step of our recent partnership with Noatum Maritime in Ro-Ro transportation and finished vehicle logistics."
"Through the eco-friendly model we have developed, we are minimising both costs and our environmental impact, while offering sustainable and economically viable solutions by reducing carbon emissions in Ro-Ro logistics. Following its successful maiden call, UGR Al Samha will be deployed on regular routes connecting key automotive and industrial hubs, supporting the growing demand for sustainable and efficient vehicle transportation.
AD Ports said the vessel was part of Noatum Maritime's broader strategy to expand Ro-Ro services while transitioning towards alternative fuels.

Omanis Citizens Earning RO600 Or Less Can Now Apply For Marriage Aid
Citizens of Muscat Governorate with monthly incomes of RO 600 or less are now eligible to apply for marriage support under a new government initiative. The activation of the Marriage Fund Support Request Service comes as part of royal directives to roll out marriage assistance across all governorates in Oman. The initiative, launched by Muscat Governorate, is intended to ease the financial burden of marriage for eligible Omani citizens and is accessible through the governorate's official website. To qualify, applicants must meet specific criteria: they must be Omani nationals between the ages of 22 and 45, have never been married, reside in Muscat Governorate, and be marrying another Omani citizen. In addition, their monthly income must not exceed RO 600. Required documentation includes copies of the applicant's ID card, a certified marriage contract, and an employer-endorsed salary certificate. Applications can be submitted online or via email and are subject to a verification process. Once reviewed, eligible applicants will be notified by phone. The service is free of charge, and the review process typically takes up to 30 working days. The rollout in Muscat follows a directive by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to establish a national marriage support fund. Each of the Sultanate's 11 governorates has been allocated RO 1 million to implement the program, with full activation expected by the end of June. The initiative was a key agenda item in the year's first governors' meeting, chaired by Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior. The meeting emphasized aligning local development priorities with the Sultan's vision of decentralization and strengthening community participation in governance. Further details regarding application procedures and eligibility in other governorates are expected to be announced soon by the Ministry of Interior.

AD Ports, key firms eye e-methanol bunkering facility in Kezad
AD Ports Group, a leading facilitator of global trade, logistics, and industry, has signed a collaboration agreement with Masdar, Advario and the CMA CGM Group to explore the feasibility for the development of a state-of-the-art e-methanol bunkering and export facility at Khalifa Port and Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – Kezad Group. The project will provide critical infrastructure to complete the supply value chain and bridge commercial e-methanol production with key off-takers, such as CMA CGM, in support of accelerating the decarbonisation of the global shipping industry. The agreement also reinforces the UAE-France strategic partnership, fostered through the High-Level Business Council held annually between both countries, further leveraging mobilisation of the private sectors to deliver sustainable economic development and partnerships. Saif Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer- Ports Cluster, AD Ports Group, said: 'The signing of this agreement marks an important milestone in our journey towards creating a more sustainable and environmentally responsible maritime industry.
