Russia claims Ukrainian drones hit training centre at Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant

Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant, Europe's biggest facility, remained offline but continued needing power to keep its nuclear fuel cool. (AP pic) KYIV : Ukrainian drones attacked a training centre at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant on Sunday evening, the Russian-installed administration of the Russia-held plant in Ukraine said on Monday. 'The enemy used three unmanned aerial vehicles,' the administration said on the Telegram messaging app. It added that 'no critical' damage was recorded. Reuters could not independently verify the Russian report. The report comes a day after the United Nations nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, said that it had heard hundreds of rounds of small arms fire late on Saturday at the plant. Russian forces seized the Zaporizhzhia plant in the first weeks of Russia's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Each side regularly accuses the other of firing or taking other actions that could trigger a nuclear accident. The station, Europe's biggest nuclear power plant, is not operating but still requires power to keep its nuclear fuel cool. The plant's Russia-installed management said in its statement that the station 'continues to operate normally, with all necessary safety precautions in place.'

Bursa Malaysia Reprimands Zetrix AI, Fines Seven Directors RM150,000 Each

BUSINESS KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd has publicly reprimanded Zetrix AI Bhd, formerly known as MYEG Services Bhd, and fined seven directors for breaching the Bursa Malaysia Securities Main Market listing requirements (LR). The stock exchange operator imposed a fine of RM150,000 on each director, including the company's group managing director, Wong Thean Soon; executive chairman Datuk Dr Norraesah Mohamad; and non-independent non-executive director, Datuk Mohd Jimmy Wong Abdullah. Also reprimanded and fined were independent non-executive directors Wong Kok Chau, Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff, Datuk Mohd Jeffrey Joakim and Mohaini Mohd Yusof. According to Bursa Malaysia Securities, the findings of breach and the imposition of penalties on the company and the directors were made pursuant to paragraph 16.19 of the Main Market LR upon completion of due process and after taking into consideration all facts and circumstances of the matter. These included the materiality of the breaches, the impact of the breaches on the company and shareholders/investors, and the roles, responsibilities, knowledge, involvement and conduct/action/inaction of the directors. "Bursa Malaysia Securities has also reminded the company and its board of directors of their responsibility to maintain the appropriate standards of corporate responsibility and accountability to its shareholders and the investing public," it said in a statement. On July 7, 2023, Zetrix AI announced that the company received a notification letter dated July 4, 2023 from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) to confirm that the Ministry of Finance (MOF) had approved for the company to be appointed as the collection agent for the government revenue and to extend its role as the provider of online services for the Immigration Department of Malaysia. "However, the July 7 announcement was not factual, inaccurate, false and misleading as the contents of the July 4 letter were inconsistent with the company's representations in the July 7 announcement," said Bursa Malaysia Securities. -- BERNAMA

JAIS to call new witnesses in eHati probe tomorrow - Mohd Na'im

KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) will call two new witnesses tomorrow as part of its investigation into the eHati marriage programme, which has been linked to alleged immoral activities and questionable religious practices. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, confirmed the investigation is being conducted under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995. 'The investigation has begun, and we hope the witnesses will cooperate tomorrow,' he said after officiating the pre-launch of the 65th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. Mohd Na'im revealed that two women initially lodged a complaint with JAIS but later appeared hesitant to provide further details. 'I urge them to clarify their statements so the truth can be uncovered,' he said. He stressed the importance of witness cooperation to ensure a fair and professional investigation. JAIS is also working with the police to examine potential civil law violations. The eHati programme, reportedly organised by a married couple, has sparked public concern after social media posts alleged participants engaged in nude dancing and consumed unknown substances leading to emotional changes. Claims also included rituals resembling practices from other religions. Mohd Na'im urged anyone with information to assist authorities for a transparent resolution. - Bernama
