Luis Diaz sends Barcelona message after partner's Liverpool 'farewell' post
Luis Diaz has informed Liverpool he wants to make the move to Barcelona this summer, according to reports in Spain. The Reds star is said to have come to an agreement with the Catalan giants and is now looking to facilitate the transfer.
Diaz was a key player for Arne Slot in 2024/25 and scored 17 times across 50 appearances and provided a versatile cog on the left of the attack and through the middle, often to great effect.
The Colombian international has two years remaining on his contract at Liverpool but has been persistently linked away from the club. Mundo Deportivo claim that the 28-year-old has poured cold water on any attempt to renew his deal and his agent is said to be attempting to force an Anfield exit to Barcelona.
Diaz has also drawn interest from the Saudi Pro League. Al Nassr also want to sign Diaz but the Liverpool ace seemingly only has eyes for Barca.
And some believe that Diaz's partner is already saying her goodbyes. Gera Ponce took to Instagram to share images of the couple and their young children celebrating the Premier League title win in front of the Kop, and from last Monday's trophy parade in the city.
She delivered a poignant message expressing her gratitude. "To the incredible Liverpool fans," she wrote. "From the first day we arrived, we felt first hand what it means to be a part of this club.
"We knew the slogan was 'You'll Never Walk Alone', but to hear them sing it with so much passion, support us every moment and show such unconditional love... confirmed to us that here you never walk alone.
"This fan doesn't just support, it feels. And what you have made my boyfriend and our entire family feel is something we carry in our souls.
"Thank you for so much love, for so much dedication and for making us feel at home. Being a part of this fan is a privilege. There's no doubt: they're the best in the world. This is a real bond, deep and strong, that reaffirms that we'll never walk alone."
Some patience may be required however. Barcelona sporting director Deco has suggested the club's priorities are first on players already at their disposal - though he has admitted to interest in Diaz and Marcus Rashford.
"We have been focusing on renewing contracts, after that, we'll discuss players to come," the former midfielder told BBC Sport. "Of course, these two players, like you mentioned, they are good but have contracts in their clubs, so we won't speak because it's not fair.
"But when you decide to go to the market, for sure, we find some names. In my opinion, we don't need to bring many players.
"When I speak with the agents of the players, everyone wants to come or stay. So this is important. The image of the club is still good. We are proud because Barcelona is still such a big club, and the way we are playing football makes players want to come."

The Portuguese star, 28, was killed in a car crash alongside brother Andre Silva in Spain last month. In his programme notes, skipper Virgil van Dijk said: "It has, of course, been a very challenging time. "First and foremost for Diogo and Andre's family, for Rute and the kids. They are the people who must always come first in all of this. We must never forget that, and we cannot imagine their pain in this moment. "It is still a bit surreal, to be honest, but we are coping in the best way possible as a team, and we are all trying to do the best job we can in order to get through this really difficult time. "With everything that happened, it has been strange having to now try to carry on with work, with football. We will never forget Diogo, of course, but we just have to try to honour his memory. That's what we try to do each and every day. "I always come back to the fact that we have to look after Diogo's family, his parents, and that's the main thing. You think about so many different things, and it's difficult to process. You can't imagine the pain, the feeling that they have. That's why we try to be there as much as we can, and for each other as well. "That's also why it is very important that we honour and carry on his legacy, not only for now and the next couple of months, but for as long as we can, because that is what he deserves."

Anfield is charged with emotion as Liverpool fans and club legends pay tribute to Diogo Jota - after stadium evacuation interrupted build-up
Liverpool paid a tear-jerking tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva ahead of their double-header of friendlies against Athletic Bilbao on Monday night. Arne Slot 's side played the Basque club twice in back-to-back matches a couple of hours apart in their first fixtures at Anfield since the tragic deaths of the two brothers, who were involved in a car crash in northern Spain last month. Jota's passing came just two weeks after he married Rute, his childhood sweetheart. The siblings were honoured before pre-season matches against Preston North End, AC Milan and Yokohama FM, but back at Anfield, Reds legend Phil Thompson and Bilbao president Jon Uriarte laid wreaths on the pitch, in front of the Kop. The billboard around the pitch read, 'Rest in peace Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, You'll Never Walk Alone', while supporters chanted Jota's name when Thompson and Uriate walked onto the field. The chorus began again at the start of the match. The crowd also held up flags and banners to remember Jota and stood to applaud - alongside both teams - in the 20th minute, a nod to the forward's shirt number. However, Anfield had to be evacuated just minutes before kick-off. Stadium staff were forced to carry out an emergency evacuation shortly before the first of the two friendlies kicked off due to a false alarm. A large number of supporters had already taken their seats to watch the build-up but were told to leave the ground after the alarm sounded. But it was soon confirmed by the The Kop club that the evacuation had been a precaution after a false alarm. A statement read: 'Shortly before 15:50pm there was a false alarm in the Anfield Main Stand, leading to supporters in that area of the stadium to be temporarily evacuated. 'Fans are now being let back into the Main Stand and there is no expected delay to KO. Thank you for everyone's co-operation.' The tributes to Jota began long before the first whistle on Monday. The front cover of the matchday programme was adorned with photos of Jota celebrating goals and the words, 'Diogo Jota, forever our number 20'. It contained a number of emotional tributes, including an obituary titled 'Forever our No 20'. Inside the programme, head coach Slot also paid his own tribute to Jota. There were countless scarves, flags and flowers placed on the memorial for Jota and Silva 'I know that you will want to pay your tributes before, during and after the games, and I know that we will hear his song ringing out throughout the evening,' Slot wrote. 'It has been a tough time for everyone connected with the club, but especially for Diogo's family, his wife, his children and friends. 'We cannot imagine the pain that they have been going through, and the club will continue to give them all the support they can going forward. We will always carry him with us in our hearts, in our thoughts, wherever we go. 'Diogo's passing has had a big impact on us all, but what has been so important has been the love and care shown from the football world, and in particular of course the Liverpool FC community. 'I want to mention the strength and the courage of my players here, too. They have found themselves in one of the toughest positions imaginable.' There is also a 'Forever 20' emblem printed on Liverpool's new kits, which made its first appearance against Bilbao. It will remain in place all season. Plans are underway for a permanent memorial scultpure at Anfield while floral wreaths will be laid before the Reds' Premier League opener against Bournemouth on August 15. A minute's silence will also take place ahead of the match on Merseyside. After joining from Wolves in 2020, Jota scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for the club, helping them to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
