HeliStorm 2025, held May 29 through June 1, provides STEM students the opportunity to connect with aviation professionals as well as earn scholarship money for their school.
The top 3 schools with the most students at the event split a $5,000 scholarship.
HeliStorm event organizer Michael Kranitz said students have the opportunity to talk to pilots and learn more about aircrafts.
He said the flying machines are like video games with consequences and hopes to inspire young people with an interest in the aviation industry.
'What I hope they get out of it is a new discipline that they didn't know about,' Kranitz said.

Scientists analyze chunk of meteorite that fell to Earth last week in GA
A meteorite fell to Earth in Georgia last Thursday, and Channel 2's Linda Stouffer visited scientists in Bartow County to get a closer look at a piece of it. It blasted into Earth's atmosphere 27 miles above Georgia and was found by a meteorite hunter in Henry County. Researchers at the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville are analyzing one of the largest pieces of the meteorite found so far. It weighs 150 grams and measures two inches by three inches. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] 'That is much bigger than what I thought it was going to be, so I'm really surprised that we got like a nice chunk like this,' Astronomer Karisa Zdanky said. 'You can just see like kind of the exact lines on the fusion crust of it just barreling through our atmosphere. So it's just really impressive to look at.' The meteorite is billions of years old, and you can see it later this summer at the Tellus Science Museum. Scientists have a lot to learn about the meteorite, including what kind of rock it is. It may have even come from outside our solar system. Cobb County to use AI to enhance emergency communications training
The Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) says a new partnership is giving them new ways to train emergency responders. Working with GovWorx, Cobb 911 will use the company's CommsCoach Simulations, which officials said was an artificial intelligence-enhanced training platform for emergency communications. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Going forward, Cobb County 911 would be one of the first emergency communications centers in Georgia to use the AI-powered training program. According to county officials, CommsCoach 'simulates realistic, high-pressure emergency calls, providing new telecommunicators with hands-on experience in a controlled, low-risk environment before they answer a live call.' 'This groundbreaking technology is a powerful step forward in how we prepare the next generation of 911 professionals,' DEC Director Melissa Alterio said. 'This partnership exemplifies how Cobb County 911 embraces innovation and finds new ways to provide excellent service and the most superior level possible.' In the next few weeks, Cobb Department of Emergency Communications will launch their CommsCoach program during the academic training phase for their newest class of recruits. Officials said the training team has tailored the platform to align with county protocols and scenarios in real life. Apple to pay $95 million in Siri eavesdropping settlement; Here's how to file your claim
Those who own Siri-enabled devices, including iPhones, MacBooks, and iPads, may be eligible to file a claim in Apple's $95 million settlement over allegations that Siri has been eavesdropping on consumers. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] As reported by CBS News, California resident Fumiko Lopez filed a lawsuit in 2021 claiming that several types of Apple devices have been eavesdropping on Apple consumers. The lawsuit claims that the private and confidential discussions Siri had allegedly listened to were being shared with third-party businesses that then targeted consumers with ads in Apple search and Safari, according to CBS News. 'Apple denies all of the allegations made in the lawsuit and denies that Apple did anything improper or unlawful,' the settlement website states. Apple agreed to the settlement earlier this year, and now consumers can file claims to get a piece of the $95 million agreement. Consumers who owned iPhones, iPads, an iPod Touch, an iMac, a MacBook, an Apple Watch, an AppleTV, and/or a HomePod could all be eligible for payment. The amount consumers could earn ultimately depends on how many people file claims, but CBS News reported there's a cap of $20 per Siri-enabled device that a person owns. Apple consumers can file a claim for as many as five Siri-enabled devices, for a maximum payout of $100, according to the settlement site. To submit a claim, visit the settlement website here. The settlement's final approval hearing is scheduled for August 1, 2025, at 9 a.m., but there could be an appeal that would delay the payout, as reported by CBS News. The settlement payment will not come until later this year at the earliest. There is no confirmed date.
