Kolkata: Lashing out at Trinamool Congress for assisting
Infiltration
for 'appeasement politics', Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a stern message in Bengal that all legal actions will be taken against the people, who are not citizens of India, and infiltrators, as per Constitutional provisions. This comes in the backdrop when Trinamool Congress, including party chairperson
Mamata Banerjee
, raised voice and hit the streets on Wednesday for Bengali-speaking migrants allegedly detained in various parts of the country.
'In West Bengal, Trinamool, for its self-interest, is putting Bengali identity at stake. Infiltration has increased, with a forged documents ecosystem developed by TMC. Bengal and the country's safety and security are at stake. For appeasement politics, Trinamool is crossing all limits. For BJP, Bengal's 'asmita' (identity) is of prime importance,' PM stressed.

'Those who are not citizens of India and have come to India through infiltration, all legal actions will be taken as per the Constitution. No conspiracy will be allowed against Bengal,' Modi noted.
The PM said that Trinamool has created a complete ecosystem of infiltrators with forged identity cards. "All actions will be taken against the infiltrators, with fake Identity cards, as per the Constitution of India. No infiltrators will be spared, who are hampering India's safety and security. All necessary legal actions will be taken against them," Modi said from a rally in Bengal's Durgapur.
" TMC is crossing all limits for them and appeasement politics. Trinamool has even started protests now supporting infiltration,' Modi stressed.

Saying "
Viksit Bangla
" is PM's guarantee, Modi said Bengal can become one of the top industrial states in the country after BJP is voted to power. "Trinamool stands as a wall, blocking the path of development and growth in the state. If that wall falls, Bengal will move ahead in the path of development and become one of the fastest growing states in the country.'
'It is important to bring investment to Bengal. But till the Trinamool government is in power, it will never allow it. In the last decade, the party has created a situation, which was anti-investment and anti-employment, Modi said. He criticized the state for Murshidabad riots, violence and police probe and questioned how can anyone invest in such a situation. Modi raised the slogan, 'TMC hatao-Bangla Banchao.'
Modi touched upon the precarious condition in the education sector and expressed sympathy for the SSC Teachers who have lost jobs and how many families are affected. He spoke about children's future in 'deep darkness' due to the lack of teachers in schools. 'Situation is such that the court was even forced to refer to it as 'a systematic fraud',' Modi said.
A government which talks about Ma Mati Manush, cannot protect its women, PM said, adding, that 'Torture on women gives deep anguish and pain.' Modi also pointed out about lack of safety of women prevails in colleges, referring to the RG Kar incident, and pointed out about the recent rape in South Kolkata Law college in Kolkata.
'BJP has big dreams for Bengal- a prosperous Bengal, a 'Viksit Bengal'-several projects have been inaugurated today to make the dream true. West Bengal's land is full of inspiration. This country's first industry minister Syma Prasad's land, gave India's first industrial policy. This is the land of Dr BC Ray who chose Durgapur for his big vision. Dwarkanath was a great reformer to Bengal and had shown path banking reforms in that time,' PM said.
'Industry had prospered in Durgapur. But today youth is forced to exodus-forced to go to other states. The industries are closed. We need to bring Bengal out of this,' he said.
'Bengal will be the engine of India's growth. We will make Bharat Viksit by 2047. Durgapur gets Rs 5400 crore project foundation inaugurated and the Steel City will bloom. it will help make lives of Bengal easy,' PM said. The PM laid the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd (BPCL) City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Bankura and Purulia worth around Rs 1,950 crore. It will provide PNG connections to households, commercial establishments and industrial customers and provide CNG at the retail outlets.
Syndicate raj
in Bengal
Slamming syndicate raj, extortion and goonda-raj of Trinamool in Bengal, the Prime Minister said, 'True 'Parivartan' will come once BJP comes to power. The BJP has big dreams for West Bengal and it wants to witness a prosperous Bengal.'
"Syndicate raj prevails here, extortions done and TMC goons threaten people, 'Goonda tax' prevails in Bengal and these factors block investments here. The state government gives free hand for corruption. This is the reason-investors have left Bengal despite Bengal being the land of opportunities,' Modi said.
After the BJP government came to power in Assam, Odisha and Tripura, these states have seen development, he said. 'Odisha will soon be the country's fastest developing states in the country soon'.

PM to virtually inaugurate Halwara airport civil terminal building on July 27; no word on flight operations yet

Nearly seven years after the Punjab government approved the project, with missing deadlines since 2018, the newly constructed Halwara airport civil terminal building will be inaugurated virtually via video-conferencing by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 27. Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said following a confirmation from the Airport Authority of India (AAI), preparations for the event have been commenced. The terminal has been constructed near the Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Halwara, Raikot sub-division in Ludhiana district, following a long pending demand of local residents for an 'international airport' in the district. Initially, the new terminal building is meant to cater just one domestic flight at a time, with a capacity of 150 passengers each for arrival and departure for a flight. While this building is set to be inaugurated on July 27, there is yet no confirmation on when flight operations would begin there. 'Neither we have any schedule on when flights would begin from the new terminal nor do we know which carrier would commence the first flight. It would probably be Air India, which might operate a flight to Delhi, but there is no confirmation yet. Some security permissions and other work are still pending. The building would be inaugurated on July 27, as per the schedule received from the Centre,' an official said, requesting anonymity. The official further said: 'A discussion to shift the lone FlyBig Ludhiana-Delhi flight, which currently operates from Sahnewal domestic airport, to the new Halwara terminal — following which Sahnewal facility will be closed permanently — is underway.' Addressing a press conference on the development works in Ludhiana on Friday, Punjab's Industries and Commerce, Investment Promotion and NRI Affairs Minister Sanjeev Arora said PM Modi would inaugurate the new terminal building. 'The AAI, in collaboration with the district administration, has been finalising preparations for the inauguration. The terminal will be dedicated to the public on July 27, with Air India to announce flight commencement dates thereafter,' Arora said. Arora — who recently won the Ludhiana West bypoll on AAP ticket — was previously a Rajya Sabha member from Ludhiana, and had been following up on the Halwara terminal project with the Centre. While the successive Punjab governments — currently led by the AAP and earlier by the Congress — have claimed the upcoming Halwara airport to be an 'international' facility, it will apparently take several years for it to become a reality. An international airport in Ludhiana has been a long pending demand of industrialists and businessmen, who currently have to take flights from Delhi, Amritsar or Chandigarh, despite the city being an industrial hub. Issue over the name Though the airport has been named 'Halwara airport' due to its proximity to the IAF's Halwara base, the terminal is located in Aitiana village where at least 272 farmers have given away over 162 acres of land for the project. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann earlier announced the AAP government had proposed that the Halwara airport should be renamed after local hero, freedom fighter, and Ghadar revolutionary Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, who was hanged by the British when he was just 19. He belonged to Sarabha village in Ludhiana district. The Centre, however, is yet to approve the proposed name, sources said. The inexplicable delay

Varma moves SC for quashing of inquiry report, questions in-house procedure validity

NEW DELHI: Ahead of a possible removal motion in Parliament's monsoon session, Justice Yashwant Varma moved Supreme Court for quashing of an in-house inquiry report holding him guilty for the huge illicit cash at his official residence in Delhi and challenged the constitutionality of then CJI Sanjiv Khanna's recommendation to the Centre to strip him of HC judgeship. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Justice Varma, whose defence team is led by senior advocates including Kapil Sibal, filed the petition faulting the process adopted by the three-member panel to inquire into the cash allegedly found at his bungalow, terming the panel's conclusions about his guilt as mere surmises without evidence. Varma questions validity of in-house procedure that allows CJI to recommend removal of judge Interestingly, the day saw a PIL being filed in the SC by advocate Mathews Nedumpara seeking registration of an FIR for the unaccounted cash that was discovered within the premises of the judge's official residence by first responders who reached after a fire on the night of March 14. Many former judges of Delhi HC shared the view of the PIL petitioner and said only a thorough investigation by a probe agency could unravel the money trail. In the writ petition filed through advocate Vaibhav Niti, Justice Varma asked why Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Service personnel, who discovered the cash, did not seize it or prepare a 'panchnama', which alone could have been admissible evidence. He accused then CJI Khanna of subjecting him to a media trial by uploading unsubstantiated material against him on the SC's official website. Repatriated to Allahabad HC during the inquiry, the judge said the panel's report was handed over to him on May 4 and the then CJI 'advised him to resign or seek voluntary retirement by 7pm on May 6, failing which the CJI would 'intimate competent authority to initiate action for his removal''. The judge, who had been barred from judicial work, said he was denied a personal hearing he had sought, as per the in-house procedure, before the CJI and senior SC judges, prior to the CJI sending the recommendation to the President and the PM on May 8, just five days before CJI Khanna retired. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He requested that SC declare the CJI's recommendation unconstitutional and ultra vires. He also questioned the constitutional validity of the in-house procedure that empowered the CJI to recommend removal of a constitutional court judge. This in-house process 'creates a parallel, extra-constitutional mechanism that derogates from the mandatory framework under Articles 124 and 218 of the Constitution, which exclusively vest powers for removal of judges of high courts in Parliament through an address supported by a special majority, following an inquiry under the Judges (Inquiry) Act, 1968', he said. Justice Varma said power to remove constitutional court judges was given to Parliament by the Constitution after conducting a thorough trial of the charges against a judge with in-built safeguards including framing of charges, cross-examination, and proof beyond reasonable doubt for 'proven misbehaviour'. Thus, the in-house procedure, as far as it usurps parliamentary procedure to recommend removal of judges, violates the doctrine of separation of powers. Judiciary cannot assume the role reserved for the legislature in the removal of judges, Justice Varma said. He said the Constitution conferred no disciplinary or superintendence power with the CJI over HC or SC judges. Thus, the CJI cannot assume, through in-house procedure, an unregulated authority to act as the arbiter of the fate of HC and SC judges, he said. Justice Varma's challenge mirrors the line Sibal took on his YouTube show last week to dissect the inquiry report with panellists: former SC judges Justices Madan Lokur and Sanjay Kaul and ex-Delhi HC judge Justice Mukta Gupta. In the show, Sibal argued that the in-house inquiry was not consistent with constitutional provisions. Cong MPs to sign motion in LS against Justice Varma Congress MPs will sign the motion that govt will bring in Lok Sabha against Justice Yashwant Varma, with the party saying it will be done to set up a 3-member statutory panel which is required under Judges Inquiry Act before a judge's removal. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh said opposition will also push govt to move on the motion to remove against Allahabad HC judge Shekhar Yadav, who is accused of making 'hate speech'. Ramesh slammed non-registration of an FIR against Varma, saying the entire process has been based on a report of the in-house panel of SC. He said Justice Yadav violated his oath with his speech but the notice to remove him is pending with Rajya Sabha chairman for past seven months.

PM's Durgapur Poll Pitch: Modi promises progress, TMC says they are ‘pack of lies'

Laying foundation stones for several development projects, valued at over Rs 5,400 crore, in Durgapur on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that these projects aligned with the 'Make in India, Make for the World' vision and will propel West Bengal's progress. Soon after his Durgapur speech, the TMC hit out at the PM , calling his speech a 'pack of lies' and added that while calling for a poriborton (change) in Bengal, he has changed. 'From invoking Jai Shri Ram to chanting Jai Ma Durga and Jai Maa Kali, it shows that Modi has been changed by Bengal and Didi (Mamata Banerjee),' the TMC said. Modi had begun his speech at a BJP rally in Durgapur by invoking Goddesses Kali and Durga. Countering the PM's claim that Bengali's pride is supreme for his party, the TMC in a post on X wrote: 'Oh really? Because this is how @BJP4India 'respects' Bengal: Withheld funds meant for the poor, Insulted Tagore, Netaji, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Swami Vivekananda, Branded Bengali citizens as 'Bangladeshis'. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, 'We are hesitating to say that the Prime Minister is lying. But it is true that Modi intentionally gave false information. Why did the Prime Minister come here empty-handed? Bengal has a due of Rs 1.70 lakh crore, and he gave a promise of Rs 5,000 crore, which is invisible. He mentioned the RG Kar issue. Within 24 hours, Kolkata Police had arrested RG Kar culprit. In the law college rape case, police arrested the culprit within 24 hours. But what happened in Madhya Pradesh where a nurse was murdered. What happened in Uttra Pradesh, where police raped. Why doesn't the Prime Minister answer them?' 'Bengalis, who are Indian citizens, are still being branded as Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in BJP-ruled states. While their governments harass and detain our migrant labourers, Modi now talks about Bengali 'ashmita' only because he realises the deep hurt and anguish felt by the average Bengali,' Ghosh added. 'Modi has resorted to falsehoods because he is afraid of losing the support of the average Bengali. In Gujarat, a sweet shop owner put up a signboard in his will in Bangla to attract customers, but was forced to clarify that he is not a Bengali. This is what his Viksit Bangla has come to — nothing but a travesty. In states ruled by the BJP, Bengali-speaking Indians are being branded as Rohingyas,' he added. Addressing a gathering in the industrial town, often known as the 'Steel City', the Prime Minister spoke about West Bengal's pivotal role as a hub for India's workforce, reiterating the BJP government's commitment to strengthening this contribution. 'Today the entire world is discussing our resolve for Viksit Bharat, reflecting the changes, especially in infrastructure, on which the edifice of a developed India is being built,' Modi said. The initiatives, spanning across oil and gas, power, rail and road sectors, are aimed at boosting connectivity, fostering a gas-based economy, and generating employment across the region. The PM affirmed that the newly launched projects would enhance regional connectivity, boost gas-based transport, and reinforce Durgapur's identity as a Steel City, creating numerous employment opportunities for the local youth. BJP-TMC false Fight: Congress, CPM Both the Congress and the CPI(M) on Friday said that PM Modi's attack on the TMC was meant to help each other in the Assembly elections due next year. 'For the last five years, no BJP leader was seen in Bengal. Now, they are coming again for votes. They are basically helping the TMC here,' said CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty. Senior Congress leader Adhir Chowdhury said that as the polls are nearing, Bengal would witness an 'artificial fight' between PM Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
