Derron hoping to make memories at T100 triathlon event
Her attentions now turn to this weekend's race, where she is hoping to build on her victory in San Francisco two weeks ago.
'It feels like a really quick turnaround after San Francisco, but I have had a good couple weeks since then and I am excited to race in Vancouver,' she said.
'It is a new race for everyone so it's going to be fun.
'It's actually quite nice to get some time between races in a different place, otherwise we leave really quickly to go back to our training bases. This time we were able to experience something different.
'It has been 12 years since I was in Whistler, and I didn't go back in between. It was nice to see the high school I went to and check out some places I spent a lot of time in.
'It was nice to spend some family time there together. It reminded me how beautiful Whistler really is.
'I feel quite at home here in Canada so I think that will lead to a good race at the weekend.'
Derron's victory in San Francisco was the perfect response for the Swiss triathlete following a disappointing 12th-place finish in Singapore.
Success in California lifted Derron to second in the overall standings behind Kate Waugh as she targets a strong finish in the series final in Qatar in December, but the 28-year-old knows there is still a long way to go until then.
'It is always good to have a good race, it gave me confidence that what we have been working on this winter has worked and I am in good shape,' she added.
'Each race is a new race with new competitors, so you have to look at each race individually, but I am really happy with my race in San Francisco and I am just trying to repeat what I did there.
'The start of the T100 series in Singapore wasn't as I had hoped for so I went back and worked really hard for a couple of more month; a good race in San Francisco was reassuring.
'It's a long season so I am just trying to take it step by step, it is nice to have a good race on the tally.'

Forgotten Chelsea star closes in on Atletico Madrid transfer as Blues could land £35m
Chelsea are continuing to offload players who aren't part of Enzo Maresca's plans, having spent a cool £260million on new signings during the summer transfer window Chelsea are hoping to bank £35million as defender Renato Veiga closes in on a move to Atletico Madrid. Veiga, 21, spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, impressing over 15 appearances. But a permanent move to Turin looks unlikely after Atletico convinced him to join Diego Simeone's side. The Portuguese is already surplus to requirements one year after moving to Stamford Bridge. Veiga was signed from Swiss giants Basel for just £11.7m and Chelsea are aiming to sell him for more than triple by demanding £35m. But according to the Sun, Atletico are trying to sign him for £25m, with the centre-back having made it clear that he's keen on the move to Madrid. It's added that the two clubs have a close relationship. The Blues sold Conor Gallagher to Atletico last summer while Joao Felix went the other way. Veiga has also been linked with Bayern Munich, who are targeting a central defender. The 21-year-old's stock has risen despite his situation at Chelsea, becoming a regular in Portugal squads and featuring in their Nations League final victory over Spain last month. News about Veiga comes as Chelsea continue talks with Ajax over Dutch defender Jorrel Hato. The Dutchman would cost around £35m while the Blues are also in talks to sign Netherlands team-mate Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. Their arrivals would take Chelsea's summer spending to around £350m. The Blues are planning recoup a portion of that by selling the likes of Veiga, as they bid to skirt around Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules. Raheem Sterling is also on the chopping block, attracting interest from clubs across Europe including German side Bayer Leverkusen. Nicolas Jackson could follow him out of Stamford Bridge after Manchester United added him to their shortlist. Enzo Maresca will hope to streamline his squad in time for Chelsea's Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on Sunday, August 17. The Blues are fresh of winning the Club World Cup and Conference League, triumphs which have earned the club a whopping £100m in prize money. Their success under Maresca has helped attract talent to west London. Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr have all arrived this summer, as Chelsea prepare to return to the Champions League and hope to mount a serious Premier League title charge. Hibs boss David Gray ready to unleash record signing Thibauld Klidje vs Midtjylland but £1m rated star doesn't travel
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HIBS boss David Gray has revealed record £1 million-plus capture Thibault Klidje is primed for a big debut in Herning. But Gray - full of pride ahead of his first Euro tie in the hot-seat - is anxious that the Togo international hitman is given time to meet growing expectations. It could be he's used from the bench against FC Midtjylland - with Martin Boyle or Kieron Bowie starting in a lone striker role. But, regardless, Gray is prepared to be patient with the 24-year-old as he plans for the Europa League second round qualifying first leg and, ultimately, the target of a history-making first group stage appearance for Hibs. He said: 'I'm very excited about Thibault. 'I think at the same time he's only been in the door five minutes, so it's something that I don't want to put too much expectation on early. 'He's played at a very good level, scored a lot of goals and affects games of football at a really high level. So I think he's a really good addition. 'But it doesn't happen overnight; adapting to new styles, to me, to my Scottish language rather than just the normal English that people would learn. 'He'll be ready when he's ready. 'He's available, he's had a pre-season. He's also had minutes in pre-season, so that's good, he's safe to do it. 'He's looking sharper every day in training, he's probably becoming more settled around the group. Everyone's excited.' Hibs mascots troll Rangers players in tunnel Gray's full of hope as Hibs return to Europe for the first time in two years. And not even being delayed at Edinburgh airport for several hours after a fault was discovered in their original chartered plane has impacted on their focus. The Hibs party had to wait for another plane to arrive before flying to Denmark and having a short evening work-out at the MCH Arena. Gray said: 'One thing I'm not going to do is worry about things we can't control. 'Our flight was delayed this morning, everybody knows that, it changed our schedule a little bit. 'But we had plans in place to react in case anything did come up. 'The players have all trained well, they're ready and I think tomorrow night takes care of itself. 'Europe is something that doesn't always happen in your career. 'It's one of the perks of playing for a big club like Hibs and the rewards for being successful, which we have been. 'We're ready now for this. 3 Martin Boyle in action against Rot-Weiss Essen Credit: Kenny Ramsay 'It's a real tough draw, I think in terms of how well Midtjylland have done in Europe. 'They're a very good side, they've got Champions League players experienced at the level. 'But we've also demonstrated that if we can play to the best of our ability we're a very good side - and that has to be the mindset of the players.' Gray added: 'Group stage football's never been done - that's the challenge to the players. 'Last season we spoke a lot about recreating history in a positive way. 'We've done a lot of that - and I think this is just the next stage. 'That is one of the genuine goals and ambitions of this group of players.' Defiant Panathinaikos star tells Rangers ‘see you in Greece' as he vows tie ISN'T done yet
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IT was a result to forget for Panathinaikos and their fans in Glasgow on Tuesday night as goals from Findlay Curtis and Djeidi Gassama left them with a mountain to climb in the second leg. But Greek new boy Pedro Chirivella for one insists the Champions League second qualifying round tie is far from over. Sign up for the Rangers newsletter Sign up 3 Max Aarons of Rangers controls the ball whilst under pressure from Pedro Chirivella Credit: Getty 3 Panathinaikos' fans light flares a Credit: AFP In fairness, the Gers needed a couple of fine saves from Jack Butland to go in at half time goalless after a first half where the Greeks played most of the football. And former Liverpool star Chirivella - who worked under Brendan Rodgers and Steven Gerrard - is in no doubt that it will be a different match in the Olympic stadium in Greece next Wednesday. Sharing pictures of himself in action, he wrote on X: "Not done yet. See you in Oaka [Athens Olympic Stadium}." If the Greeks are to play their way back into this one, they'll have to do it without star man Georgios Vagiannidis after his sending off. To be fair Russell Martin knows fine well that his side have plenty of work to do in the second match - with a tie against Servette or Viktoria Plzen waiting in the next round. It's the Swiss who are in the box seat in that one but there's still the doomsday scenario of Benfica or Club Brugge waiting in the play-off round if the Gers can get that far. Martin said: 'It's nowhere near finished. "Next week will be a different game, different atmosphere and we need to be ready. "We'll be much better for this. "We had a few sticky moments against a really good team, but I was really proud of the players for getting through it. Rangers fans unfurl giant tifo ahead of Russell Martin's first match 'Findlay [Curtis] embodied us — first half a bit tense, but he has so much character that he got his reward. 'He got some words of wisdom from Sir Alex Ferguson afterwards and you can't ask for more than that." 3 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
