Pag-IBIG Fund launches HEAL, offering additional funds through home equity

Filipino Times29-04-2025
Pag-IBIG Fund continues to support members through the Pag-IBIG Home Equity Appreciation Loan (Pag-IBIG HEAL), providing housing loan borrowers affordable and convenient access to ready cash for home improvement, expansion, or other family expenses.
Pag-IBIG HEAL allows borrowers with existing Pag-IBIG Housing Loans in good standing to tap into the increased value of their homes. The program provides additional cash at affordable rates and easy repayment terms, enabling members to conveniently fund home improvements or address other important family expenses without financial stress.
Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta explained how Pag-IBIG HEAL empowers borrowers to leverage the growing equity in their homes. 'Pag-IBIG HEAL offers our borrowers practical and affordable access to additional cash. As their homes grow in value, Pag-IBIG HEAL lets them tap into this appreciation to make improvements, expansions, or even address other financial needs without causing strain on their finances,' Acosta said.
Eligible borrowers for Pag-IBIG HEAL must have an existing Pag-IBIG Housing Loan maintained in good standing for at least five years, with monthly payments consistently updated during the 12 months prior to application. Borrowers must also be active Pag-IBIG Fund members not older than 65 at the time of application and have the financial capacity to repay the additional loan.
The maximum loan amount through Pag-IBIG HEAL depends primarily on the increased appraised value of the borrower's property and their ability to repay. The combined balance of the existing Pag-IBIG Housing Loan and the Pag-IBIG HEAL should not exceed 60% of the property's latest appraised value, with a maximum total loanable amount of Php 6 million.

Pag-IBIG Fund earns 13th straight unmodified opinion from COA

Pag-IBIG Fund has earned its 13th consecutive Unmodified Opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA), reaffirming its commitment to excellence in financial management, sound governance practices, and consistent compliance with accounting and auditing standards, officials announced on Tuesday, July 1. The latest audit opinion followed COA's comprehensive review of Pag-IBIG Fund's financial statements and operations for the year 2024. The review confirmed that the agency's transactions were properly conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and that its financial statements were fairly presented, in all material respects, in line with relevant government accounting and reporting standards. 'This is further proof that Pag-IBIG Fund has been, and continues to be, managed with professionalism, prudence, and integrity,' said Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling, head of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and Chairperson of the 11-member Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees. 'It is a testament to how Pag-IBIG Fund upholds the highest standards in managing our members' hard-earned savings and in fulfilling its mandate to serve the Filipino worker. This achievement also reflects Pag-IBIG Fund's strong position, as it plays a key role in the administration's flagship Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Housing Program. We remain committed to the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to build a more secure, resilient, and prosperous future for every Filipino family.' COA had previously issued unqualified opinions on Pag-IBIG Fund from 2012 to 2017 and unmodified opinions from 2018 to 2024. With this latest result, Pag-IBIG Fund joins a short list of Philippine government agencies and GOCCs that have consistently received unqualified and unmodified opinions for over a decade, a noteworthy distinction that underscores its sustained fiscal discipline and commitment to transparency. Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene C. Acosta likewise emphasized the significance of this recognition, highlighting how it reflects the agency's outstanding performance and service delivery in 2024. 'Pag-IBIG Fund exceeded the one-trillion-peso mark in total assets and posted a historic net income of ₱66.78 billion last year. We also achieved all-time highs in our housing loan releases, cash loan disbursements, and loan collections, enabling more Filipino workers to access affordable home financing and meet their short-term financial needs. Earning COA's Unmodified Opinion for the 13th consecutive year affirms that we accomplished all these while upholding the highest standards of integrity, in line with President Marcos Jr.'s call for excellence and accountability in public service, said Acosta.' 'This recognition reinforces our members' trust, knowing that their savings are safe, protected, and responsibly managed. We will continue to serve them with Tapat na Serbisyo, Mula sa Puso, and remain focused on sustaining this track record of integrity in the years ahead, she added.' The unmodified opinion from COA adds to the list of recognitions earned by Pag-IBIG Fund from governing bodies for its excellence in public service last year. In 2024, Pag-IBIG Fund was also named as one of the top-performing government firms for good governance by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG). Pag-IBIG Fund also earned a satisfaction rating of 99.52% in its 2024 Client Satisfaction Measurement, in accordance with the standards set by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) and the GCG.

The VinFast VF 6 Passes the Wife Test with Room to Spare

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Media OutReach Newswire – 20 June 2025 –Women usually play an important role in family car-buying decisions, and the VinFast VF 6, recently launched in the Philippines, meets the key priorities of many women buyers. The old stereotype paints a familiar picture: men kick tires, debate horsepower, and make the final call on family cars. Reality tells a different story. According to CDK Global, women influence 85% of all car purchases. This insight means that women play an important, sometimes deciding, role in buying a car. It's essential for automakers to understand what women actually look for in a vehicle. ADVERTISEMENT The way women make decisions The numbers reveal how women approach car buying. Women spend more time researching their options. On average, they take 75 days to make a decision, compared to 63 days for men. This suggests that they usually do more thorough research to build knowledge prior to the purchase. Their priorities are also different from men's when shopping for cars. An survey of over 500,000 car inquiries showed that women focus on price, affordability, and practical features, while performance specs and brand prestige rank lower. The cars men wanted cost three times more on average than what satisfied women buyers. This kind of thinking reflects the many roles women juggle every day: caregivers, professionals, and budget managers, often all at once. A MasterCard study across 16 Asian countries found women managing household finances in half the markets surveyed. In Indonesia and the Philippines, over 56% of women control domestic spending decisions. A more recent survey by Women's World Car of the Year gave a further breakdown. Safety ranks as the single most important feature women seek. Practicality, performance, and space tie for second place. But safety isn't just about crash ratings. ADVERTISEMENT Women want backup cameras, blind spot monitoring, and multiple airbags. They value high seating positions for better visibility. Storage pockets, cupholders, and intuitive technology matter for daily convenience. Many also weigh emissions and fuel efficiency, choosing greener options when the situation allows. VinFast VF 6 ticks all the boxes The VinFast VF 6, a compact SUV recently launched in the Philippines, happens to tick all the boxes that matter most to women car buyers. It's a fully electric SUV in the popular B-segment, combining safety, practicality, and smart technology in a package built for real-world use. In the Philippines, the VF 6 is available in two trims: Eco and Plus, with MSRPs of 1,419,000 PHP and 1,610,000 PHP respectively. The 'Natural Opposites' design, created with Torino Design, balances function and form. But looks aren't the selling point. It's the way the VF 6 fits into everyday life. With a 2,730 mm wheelbase, the VF 6 remains compact enough for narrow city streets while offering interior space comparable to many larger gas-powered cars in the C-segment. Its 423-liter cargo capacity fits around 10 standard carry-on suitcases. Folding down the rear seats makes room for larger items such as bicycles or camping gear. Inside, the VF 6 features a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and an 8-way power driver's seat. Voice commands operate smoothly. Utility modes cater to daily needs, including Pet Mode, which keeps the cabin cool for animals when the driver steps away. The 360-degree camera view also makes parking in tight spots easier. For safety, the VF 6 includes up to 8 airbags and offers up to 19 advanced driver assistance features in the Plus version. These include blind spot detection, rear parking assist, and 360-degree camera views, making driving easier for newer drivers. The VF 6's practicality extends to finances. Owners get free charging at V-GREEN operated stations until May 1st, 2027, which eliminates fuel costs entirely. The 7-year warranty and 90% buyback guarantee provide long-term security. Range anxiety disappears with up to 480 kilometers per charge, handling both daily commutes and weekend trips without compromise. 'Women hold up half the sky', so it's only natural that they should shape what families drive on the road. And the VF 6 happens to align perfectly with this shift toward practical buyers. In this era, automakers can't rely on dated assumptions. They need to meet people where they are, starting with the ones making the decisions. The VF 6 offers practical features, safety, and financial sense. That's what many buyers want, and that's how trust is earned.
