British police say Monday's incident is not being treated as terrorism. Authorities say 27 people were taken to the hospital and another 20 people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Other vehicle ramming incidents have claimed lives. This year, 11 people were killed in Vancouver, British Columbia, when an SUV sped down a closed street, hitting people attending a festival. Fifteen people died in an attack along Bourbon Street that took place just before New Orleans hosted the Super Bowl.

Park Avenue Gunman Drove Cross Country Before Committing the Attack, Police Said
The gunman who killed four people and then himself inside a Manhattan office building on Monday had arrived in the city just hours before, after driving cross country for days from his home in Nevada, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said on Monday night. Ms. Tisch identified the man as Shane Tamura, 27, and said it was unclear what had motivated him to drive from Las Vegas to unleash mayhem in the heart of Manhattan at the end of the work day. Speaking beside Mayor Eric Adams at a news conference, she said that law enforcement in Nevada had told the police department that Mr. Tamura had 'a documented mental health history' but did not elaborate. She said he appeared to have acted alone. 'We are still unraveling what took place,' the mayor said. The rampage took place at 345 Park Avenue, a skyscraper blocks from Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral. The workplace mass shooting was particularly shocking in the center of New York City, where such attacks are virtually unheard of. Ms. Tisch said that Mr. Tamura's car was recorded passing through Colorado on Saturday, then Nebraska and Iowa on Sunday, before he arrived in New York City on Monday afternoon. He drove to Park Avenue, where he double parked his BMW just outside the skyscraper. He then marched inside with an AR-15-style rifle and began to spray the lobby with gunfire, peeking behind a security desk to shoot one of his victims and firing on another who tried to take cover behind a pillar. He then walked to the elevator bank, waited for an elevator to take him upstairs, letting a woman exit the car and walk safely past him before he got on and rode it to the 33rd floor. NYC shooting: What to know about Shane Tamura, gunman who killed 4 including NYPD cop in Midtown Manhattan
A lone gunman walked into a midtown Manhattan office building Monday afternoon and opened fire, killing five people – including an NYPD officer – before turning the gun on himself. Speaking at a press conference later Monday, NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch identified the shooter as Shane Temura, a 27-year-old Las Vegas resident with a history of mental health issues. Tisch said Tamura had driven across state lines, with his vehicle having been seen as recently as 4:24 p.m. Monday in Columbia, New Jersey, not long before he unleashed a barrage of gunfire. Officers found a rifle case with rounds, a loaded revolver, ammunition and magazines, a backpack, and medication prescribed to Tamura, Tisch said. The vehicle was searched by the NYPD's bomb squad but found to be clear of any explosives. Police said Tamura is believed to have acted alone and there is no longer a threat to the community. "According to our law enforcement partners in Las Vegas, Mr. Tamura, has a documented mental health history," Tisch said. "His motives are still under investigation and we are working to understand why he targeted this particular location." The building Tamura entered and opened fire, 345 Park Avenue, is a commercial building where tenants include the NFL, Rudin Management, KPMG and Blackstone. Documents obtained by Fox News Digital indicate Tamura had a concealed carry permit that was issued on June 14 and valid for five years. Tamura also carried a private investigator license and had a misdemeanor for trespassing not amounting to burglary in 2023. Earlier records show Tamura played football at Granada Hills Charter in Granada Hills, California, which is about 25 miles northwest of Los Angeles. He had also worked as a security guard at a Las Vegas casino. The gunman was armed with a rifle and first opened fire in the lobby of the building on 52nd Street and Park Avenue. He went to another floor and shot people there, sources told Fox News, before going up to the 33rd floor and shooting himself. Police are still searching for a motive in Monday's deadly shooting.

ESSEX Police have released footage of the arrest of a protester charged after violent scenes broke out at the "migrant hotel". The protests, which began peacefully Thursday July 17 outside the Bell Hotel in Epping, descended into violence as masked protesters hurled bottles, injuring police, with some protesters heard chanting "save our kids". The two latest protests on Thursday July 24 and Sunday July 27 have passed peacefully, however police are still investigating incidents of violent disorder at earlier protests and have so far made 23 arrests and secured 12 charges. Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow, leading the investigation, said: 'I've been consistent in repeating a simple fact – as a police force we aren't here to take sides, we are here simply to protect the public and maintain law and order, facilitating peaceful protest but also allowing all people in Epping to go about their lives with minimal disruption. 'I'm really grateful to the law-abiding majority of attendees at the two most recent protests in Epping. 'They've got a right to make their views and their voices heard and they've done so in a peaceful way. The engagement I have seen has been largely respectful. 'However it's really important that we continue to show that previous violence, against our officers, against property and against people at the hotel, is unacceptable and will be dealt with. 'Those who chose to take advantage of peaceful protest to resort to hooliganism can expect a knock on the door.'
