Microsoft Warns Businesses About Major Security Threat: What The Company Has Said
Microsoft has warned businesses about a major security risk that can allow systems to be attacked to steal data.
Microsoft has issued a major security warning for its business customers about attacks that can directly affect their server systems. The threat is linked to the SharePoint servers running via Microsoft across its enterprise customers. This platform enables organisations to share documents within their network, and leaving them vulnerable could pose major risk for the company and government agencies.
The alert from Microsoft was shared on July 19, 2025 and there is a detailed summary of the issue and how to fix the gaps caused by the attack threats.
The company's threat post says, 'Microsoft is aware of active attacks targeting on-premises SharePoint Server customers by exploiting vulnerabilities partially addressed by the July Security Update."
It seems the security risk is limited to the SharePoint customers at the server end, and those using the cloud version are secure from any possible mishaps. Reports have indicated that Microsoft is worried about the active nature of these attacks that were termed zero-day earlier this week, which means they were unaware about the possible impact of these vulnerabilities and who might be already affected by the issues.
Microsoft's own report says the vulnerability impacts major versions of the SharePoint Server 2010 and 2013 editions. 'Customers using SharePoint Subscription Edition should apply the security update provided in CVE-2025-53771 immediately to mitigate the vulnerability," post adds.
Urgent Need To Upgrade
The most important aspect covered because of these attacks is for companies to immediately invest in upgrading their systems. Microsoft is advising its customers to upgrade to the SharePoint Server 2016, 2019, & SharePoint Subscription Edition that will completely protect them from the latest attacks.
The company has a wide range of its business catering to the affected segment, and not using the cloud-based services tells you the situation on ground that Microsoft needs to overhaul before a major catastrophe like the Crowdstrike outage affects its large business model.

IndiGo to add more intl destinations; to explore new MRO opportunities
New Delhi, Jul 27 (PTI) IndiGo will continue to add more overseas destinations with A321 XLRs set to join the fleet this fiscal year and aims to increase its international capacity share to 40 per cent by 2030. Also, the country's largest airline plans to explore new opportunities in the MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) space, according to its annual report for 2024-25. IndiGo, which has been flying for over 18 years, has a domestic market share of 64.5 per cent, operates around 2,200 flights daily with more than 430 planes. 'We will continue to add more destinations internationally, especially with XLRs coming in along with our newly leased wide body aircraft for long haul operations. From 28 per cent current international capacity share, we are aiming for 40 per cent by FY 2030," IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said in his message in the annual report. Earlier this month, the carrier started flights to Manchester and Amsterdam that are being operated with Boeing 787 Dreamliners leased from Norway's Norse Atlantic. The long range A321 XLRs and wide-body A350-900s are expected to join the airline's fleet in the current fiscal year ending March 2026, and 2027, respectively. 'IndiGo also plans to explore new opportunities in the MRO space as India's infrastructure development is picking up," it said. The airline is setting up an MRO facility in Bengaluru. In the annual report, the airline said its outlook remains promising, supported by a healthy demand environment and firm capacity growth. 'While macroeconomic uncertainties and operating headwinds such as aircraft groundings and fuel cost volatility remain, IndiGo continues to proactively manage these challenges through fleet diversification, damp leasing strategies and strategic agreements with OEMs," it said. OEM refers to original equipment manufacturer. PTI RAM IAS TRB view comments First Published: July 27, 2025, 20:45 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Andhra to conduct village-level farm machinery survey
Amaravati, Jul 27 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh will commence a village-level agricultural machinery survey across the state to analyse overall availability and usage, and is expected to be completed by August 31, said a senior official on Sunday. According to Andhra Pradesh Director of Agriculture Dilli Rao, the exercise will be carried out by agricultural assistants through Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs). 'This survey will assess machinery needs based on crop area and season, enabling demand-based budgeting rather than a uniform allocation," said Rao in the official press release. The survey will document machinery owned by farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and private agencies, including equipment purchased with or without subsidies, to analyse overall availability and usage. Details such as ownership, condition and operational status will be uploaded digitally to the Agriculture Information Management System (FMIS) on the Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Information and Management System (APAIMS 2.0). Key objectives include creating a digital machinery inventory, linking data with Custom Hiring Centers (CHCs) and identifying idle equipment for redeployment to improve rural agricultural productivity. The department plans to integrate AI-based crop advisories, enable e-CHC real-time bookings, and expand drone spraying services for farmers, Rao added. 'No Extensions Or Grace Periods': US Firm On August 1 Tariff Deadline
Last Updated: So far, five countries — Britain, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan — have agreed to new trade terms with the US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Sunday said that the United States will move forward with its planned tariffs on trading partners from August 1, with no extensions or exemptions. Speaking on Fox News Sunday, Lutnick made clear the administration's firm stance, 'No extensions, no more grace periods. August 1, the tariffs are set. They'll go into place. Customs will start collecting the money, and off we go." The decision adds pressure on key US allies and trading partners to finalise trade deals before the deadline, part of the Trump administration's push to rewrite global trade rules that it considers unfair to American industries. US President Donald Trump, currently in Scotland for talks with European Union officials, is still open to negotiations even after the tariffs are imposed, Lutnick said. However, he made it clear that the US has set the terms. 'They're hoping they make a deal, and it's up to President Trump, who's the leader of this negotiating table. We set the table," he added. So far, five countries — Britain, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan — have agreed to new trade terms with the US, securing deals ahead of the looming deadline. While the tariffs they accepted are often higher than the current 10 percent base rate imposed since April, they remain lower than what Washington had originally threatened in the absence of an agreement. The European Union, however, has yet to reach a deal. It now faces the risk of a 30 percent blanket tariff on exports to the US beginning August 1. Trump has said there's a '50-50" chance of striking an agreement with the EU. Earlier today, Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen were scheduled to meet at Trump's Turnberry golf resort in southwest Scotland. The meeting is seen as a final attempt to avoid a major transatlantic trade conflict. The EU's negotiating team has been working intensively to secure a deal that would protect a trading relationship worth an estimated $1.9 trillion annually. But any agreement must be approved by all 27 member states. EU ambassadors, currently visiting Greenland, were meeting Sunday to review the latest developments.
