The Camera Club is a supportive and friendly group of amateur and professional photographers and as well as submitting photos taken recently, members also take part in regular themed challenges like blossom, trains and stations, bluebells and pets.

Visit yarn shops in Cobourg, Belleville, Picton, Kingston on road trip or stay in Oshawa, Whitby, Port Perry for local crawl
If you love to knit or crochet, you probably enjoy visiting local yarn shops almost as much as using the products you buy. Durham Region and the rest of the GTA have plenty of beautiful shops, but if you want to escape for a day and drive east, I'll share the route I would take. This is ambitious but it's doable. Since you will visit four shops in about a five-hour time span with dozens of kilometres in between each stop, try to stick to 30 minutes per store. It can be tough, but it can be done. Keep in mind that most yarn shops are closed on Sundays and Mondays and that each one has unique hours. Yarn It! is a local yarn shop located in Cobourg. I'd arrive when it opens, at 10:30 a.m. It will be tough, but try to stick to the 30-minute rule in this big, beautiful shop that features a wide variety of high-end and commercial yarn, needles, hooks, kits and more. Yarn It! is located just off of Highway 401, so once you're finished, you can easily hit the road and continue east. You should arrive around noon. Make sure you visit this shop on a Friday or a Saturday because those are the two days it's currently open. Check the Instagram or Facebook pages before you go to make sure it's open. If it's another day of the week, head straight to Picton instead. Assuming you arrive at Grey Heron at around noon or so, try to spend about half an hour there, max. When you leave, it's only about 30 minutes to Picton. Grey Heron offers a wide variety of high-end and commercial yarn, needles, pattern books, accessories and more. Rosehaven Yarn Shop is located on Main Street in Picton. I assume you'll arrive in Picton at around 1 p.m. It will be hard to speed through Main Street. This little bustling street is off the beaten path, but it's a little haven of independent shops. Spending the afternoon perusing the shops and grabbing lunch makes for a pleasant experience and you could finish your day here, sit on a patio and hit the yarn shop. But if your mission is to buy more yarn and you want to make it Kingston by the time the yarn shop there closes, this is what I would do: Either eat your packed lunch or grab a quick lunch and coffee or beverage. I suggest the Lily's Cafe , attached to Books & Company . The sandwiches are yummy, the coffee is fresh and they have washrooms. The book store is great as well, and even has a shop cat named Pushkin. Then visit Rosehaven Yarn Shop for a nice variety of affordable and high-end yarn. And if you love independently dyed yarn, look out for the shop owner's own brand, Baaa'd Girl Yarns, featuring beautiful, unique colours on a variety of bases. The shop also features a wide selection of needles and other accessories. If you hit the road by 2 p.m. you should make it to Kingston with about an hour to spare. This is a sample of Baaa'd Girl Yarns, which was purchased at Rosehaven Yarn Shop in Picton. What began as a mobile yarn shop that travelled to various places now has a bricks and mortar shop in Kingston. It offers premium hand-dyed and commercial yarn, and carries knitting needles, patterns, felt, trinkets, tools and gifts. Now that you're in Kingston, take advantage of this beautiful city. The downtown is large and charming and features all sorts of shops, cafés and restaurants, all leading to the water. With no more yarn shops to rush to, you can enjoy a scoop of ice cream, a cold beverage on a patio or if you have the money left in your budget after all of that yarn collecting, perhaps a nice dinner out. If you want to stick to Durham Region, good news: there are plenty of local yarn shops to see. They are all relatively close to one another, so no need to stick to a rigorous schedule, but I've included an ideal day visiting the shops I like to see. If you're going on a Saturday, I'd start at Kat's Craft Corner since it opens at 10 a.m. It features mostly Canadian-dyed yarn, as well as other products such as needles, project bags, notions and embroidery and cross-stitch kits. A fun add-on for the summer is a schedule of trunk shows, where independent dyers come to show and sell their hand-dyed yarn on various Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Find the schedule here . Also, feel free to bring your project to sit and knit or crochet any time. Located at 688 Hortop St., Oshawa Shop hours: Wednesday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit the website here . Wool on William is located in downtown Oshawa. Next, head to Wool on William, which has a wide variety of commercial and high-end yarns, as well as needles, notions, pattern books, thread and more. It's located in downtown Oshawa, so there are plenty of places to grab a coffee or a bite to eat. Cork and Bean , Berry Hill Food Co. and Mexitaco are just some of the restaurants that are a quick walk away. Located at 5 William St. W., Oshawa Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the website here . If you're doing your yarn crawl on a Friday or Saturday, you may have to skip this one for now and come back another day. Currently operating on summer hours, it is closed Friday to Sunday. The Wool Queen is a staple in Oshawa, having served yarn enthusiasts for many years. It offers commercial and high-end yarn, as well as needles and accessories. Located at: 182 Simcoe St. S., Oshawa Hours: Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit the website here . Artisanthropy Fibre Arts is located in downtown Whitby. Next, head over to Artisanthropy Fibre Arts, which closes at 4 p.m. on Saturdays. It sells a nice variety of commercial and high-end yarn, as well as needles, felting supplies, cross-stitch materials, notions and more. Here, you can see live spinning at 11 a.m. on Saturdays or hang out and knit from 1 to 3 p.m. The Saturday Social costs $10, which will be applied to a store credit. Register for it here . Located in downtown Whitby, there are plenty of great places to grab lunch or a beverage, such as 12welve Bistro or The Vault Gastropub . For something small or a coffee, there's Brock Street Espresso . Note: Artisanthropy is closed most long weekends. Located at 125 Brock St. S., Whitby Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 1 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the website here . A good place to finish your day is Never Enough Wool, located right by the water in beautiful Port Perry. It offers plenty of commercial and high-end yarn, as well as needles and hooks, books and accessories. If you're there on a Saturday, you can catch the Sit'n'Stitch Session from 2 to 4 p.m. Afterward, you could grab a treat at The Perfect Scoop Handcrafted Gelato and Ice Cream and head to Palmer Park . Or you could sit at a café for a meal or beverage at places such as The Lakeview Pub or Waterfront Kitchen and visit some of the cute shops in the area . Located at 26 Water St., Port Perry Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit the website here . There is another local shop in Ashburn that I have not visited yet but would like to. Myrtle Station Wool is located at 9585 Baldwin St. N., Ashburn . It's open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 905-655-4858 . United Airlines adding more flights for Notre Dame football games
Nearly half of the new flights are for Notre Dame games, including the highly anticipated Notre Dame versus USC matchup on Oct. Even United Airlines is getting ready for Notre Dame football this upcoming season. The airline announced Thursday that it will offer more flights for Fighting Irish football games during the 2025 campaign. United is adding over 20 new flights based off of some of college football's biggest matchups this fall. "As football fans prepare for the 2025 season, United is adding 24 nonstop flights and flying bigger planes to some of the biggest college football games of the season," a United spokesperson said. Nearly half of the new flights are for Notre Dame games, including the home game against USC on October 18. Flights have also been added for ND home games against Texas A&M (September 13), Purdue (September 20), Boise State (October 4), NC State (October 11), Navy (November 8) and Syracuse (November 22). Flights were also added for away games against Arkansas (September 27), Boston College (November 1) and Pittsburgh (November 15).
