King Charles Has Switched Up the Plans for Donald Trump's State Visit to the U.K.

King Charles is preparing to roll out the red carpet for President Donald Trump after inviting him for an unprecedented second state visit earlier this year—but according to a new report, there has been a major adjustment to the Royal Family's initial plans. According to the Times, Prime Minister Keir Starmer is pushing for the trip to happen sooner to expected, and in a much more formal capacity. "Britain and the US are expected to confirm that a full state visit by the president will take place in September," the Times wrote. The formal document initiating a state visit, called a "manu regia," was reportedly delivered to the White House last week, per the outlet. In his initial letter to Trump—which was hand-delivered by Starmer in February—The King suggested an informal visit at one of his residences in Scotland, followed by a grander state visit at a later date. However, the prime minister has now pivoted from that plan and per the Times, "has expedited a full 'bells and whistles' visit in an attempt to capitalize on the president's fascination with the royal family." Sources have reported that the Royal Family "hoped for a more leisurely and considered approach, building towards a full state visit." Instead, the trip is now expected to take place entirely in England, centering around Windsor Castle and including a glittering state banquet. While Princess Kate will almost definitely take part in Trump's visit, it's unclear if the Princess of Wales—who has scaled back her duties as she recovers from cancer—will be making a tiara appearance at the event. Trump was quick to accept the royal invitation in February, stating, "The answer is yes, on behalf of our wonderful first lady, Melania, and myself, the answer is yes. We look forward to being there and honoring The King, honoring your country. Your country is a fantastic country, and it will be an honor to be there." The trip will make Trump the only U.S. president to make two state visits to the U.K., a rare and historic distinction. He first met with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle in 2018, later returning for an official state visit in 2019.

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Kate Middleton and Prince William have a busy week ahead. On July 8, French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, will travel to Windsor for a State Visit. The Prince and Princess of Wales will be assisted by two unexpected senior members of the Royal Family, who have been given a more prominent role while hosting the French visitors. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester "will accompany the French couple to a Guildhall banquet hosted by the Lord Mayor and City of London Corporation on the evening of Wednesday, July 9," GB News reported. The Duke of Gloucester is Queen Elizabeth II's cousin, making him perfectly placed to carry out official engagements on behalf of the Royal Family. According to the Royal Family's official website, "The Duchess of Gloucester is a full-time working member of the Royal Family" who "takes great pride in the work which she undertakes for her many charities and organizations." Her husband, the Duke of Gloucester, "attends national and international events in support of The King and his duties as Head of State, as well as undertaking extensive public duties and engagements." Per a press release, the Macrons will stay at Windsor Castle during their State Visit. While the Gloucesters will handle certain duties on behalf of the Royal Family, Princess Kate and Prince William are also set to take on important roles for King Charles. In fact, Kate and William "are scheduled to take part in a carriage ride featuring Macron and his wife Brigitte through the streets of Windsor" on July 8, People reported. King Charles and Queen Camilla will lead the procession, with the Prince and Princess of Wales following behind with the Macrons.

Serena Williams & Alexis Ohanian's Daughters Are the Sweetest Daddy's Girls in a Heart-Melting New Photo
Girl dads have a special kind of bond with their daughters, and Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian is the perfect example. He showers their girls Olympia, 7, and Adira, 22 months, with love. A heart-melting new photo prove they are Daddy's girls through and through, and we've never seen anything sweeter! 'London morning with my girls,' the Reddit co-founder shared on Instagram today. He added, 'Also stopped by the women's sports store pop-up—Up The Chels!' More from SheKnows Chrissy Teigen's Daughter Esti Had the Cutest Reaction to Lunchtime in a New Video & It's Such a Vibe In the first photo, Ohanian walks toward the London Eye, holding his daughters in his arms. Adira's hair is up in two space buns on top of her head, as she turns her head and rests on her dad's shoulder. Olympia hangs out on her dad's other shoulder, with one arm around his back and the other arm around her sister. She leans forward to rest on his shoulder in the cutest snap. He also shared photos from the pop-up shop, featuring a jersey by Lucy Bronze of the Chelsea Women Football Club, of which Ohanian is a minor investor. In the comments, people praised this outing, focused on father-daughter bonding time and supporting women's sports. 'You are the epitome of a well-rounded man. A devoted husband, an incredible father, and a driven, accomplished businessman. Your heart is as big as your ambition. We can see it!! Well Done!' one person commented. 'This is what a real man looks like – devoted father, not afraid of his wife's success, and pursuing causes and investments to make the world a better place,' someone else wrote. In May, Ohanian and Williams brought Olympia to a Chelsea game at Wembley, where they won the Treble. The tech founder told BBC, 'That is what we're trying to build here with Chelsea Women — not just to be the best team, but truly the best team in all of women's sports. This will be a billion dollar franchise one day and beyond, and I hope my dollars — or should I say my pounds! — can go towards that in a big way. This is going to be America's team.' He also shared that while his girls are active like their mom, they will be encouraged to do whatever they want when they grow up. 'Both those girls are active. Olympia's definitely been playing a lot of tennis and she plays golf too,' Ohanian gushed. 'I've definitely been trying to get her into soccer, but whatever she wants she'll be great. She's very excited to be a Blues fan.' A loving dad and a supportive man?
