'The Office' star John Krasinski 'would be down' to do a cameo on the show's spinoff series, 'The Paper.'

'I'm excited to see what they do with it. It's such an amazing idea, and listen, if Greg [Daniels] is behind it, we're all in. And you can't get a better actor than [Domhnall Gleeson] to take on the mantle,' Krasinski went on. 'He's so, so great. He's going to be so perfect for it, and we'll probably start doing watch parties again just to watch them.'
'The Office,' which ran for 9 seasons from 2005 to 2013 on NBC, was a mockumentary of a group of office workers at a paper company going through their mundane days, consisting of ego clashes, inappropriate behavior, and romance.
Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert, co-starred alongside Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, Kate Flannery, Phyllis Smith, Brian Baumgartner, Leslie David Baker and more.
In the book 'Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: The Ultimate Oral History of The Office,' authors Daniels, Baumgarter and Ben Silverman give readers and longtime fans the inside story behind the hit show.

One of the most notable parts of the book revealed that there was going to be a rift between lovebirds Jim Halpert (Krasinski) and Pam Beesly (Fischer).
Originally, Jim was going to make out with Pam's replacement, Cathy Simms (played by Lindsay Broad), in Season 8 of the show.
However, there was pushback on that — especially from Krasinski — saying that it would have altered the show's legacy.

'That's the only time I remember putting my foot down … I remember saying things that I never thought I'd say before, like, 'I'm not going to shoot it,'' Krasinski said. 'My feeling is there is a threshold with which you can push our audience. They are so dedicated. We have shown such great respect to them. But there's a moment where if you push them too far, they'll never come back. And I think that if you show Jim cheating, they'll never come back.'
Just last year, Krasinski said that he wasn't going to be in 'The Papers.'
'As of now, I haven't been asked,' Krasinski said to Entertainment Tonight in 2024. 'But the truth is, I'd do anything for Greg Daniels. It sounds like they have a really fun idea.'

Carell, meanwhile, doesn't plan to reprise his Michael Scott role.
'It's just a new thing, and there's really no reason for my character to show up in something like that,' Carell told The Hollywood Reporter in May 2024, saying that he is 'excited' for the show and it 'sounds like a great concept.'
The spinoff series will follow Gleeson, alongside co-star Sabrina Impacciatore, 56 ('The White Lotus'), as new characters navigate their lives in the Midwest. He previously worked with Krasinski in this year's 'Fountain of Youth.'
7 Since 'The Office' ended, Krasinski has been in several shows and movies, including 'A Quiet Place,' A Quiet Place Part II,' and the 'Jack Ryan' series on Amazon Prime.

'The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters,' a Peacock synopsis reads.
Since 'The Office' ended, Krasinski has been in several shows and movies, including 'A Quiet Place,' A Quiet Place Part II,' and the 'Jack Ryan' series on Amazon Prime.
Most recently, he stars alongside Natalie Portman in the new mystery-thriller movie 'Fountain of Youth,' which follows two estranged siblings on a global heist to find the mythical Fountain of Youth. The film is set to be released on May 23 on Apple TV+.
'The Paper' will debut on Peacock in September 2025.

Rob Lowe sent 'missing' milk cartons to 'West Wing' producers during on-set 'difficulties'
Lowe said "it's all good now," but it wasn't always. Has anyone seen Sam Seaborn? Rob Lowe, who played the idealistic deputy of communications at the White House on the first four seasons of NBC's acclaimed political drama The West Wing, asked that very question when he left the show as a regular cast member. Seaborn was been elected to office in California. "It's all good now, but there were some difficulties. At one point, they had sort of written me off the show. I didn't feel like I had a lot to do and so I made these," Lowe said, in a video on TikTok, as he held up a milk carton with a missing person ad for, yep, Seaborn. "I sent them to everbody affiliated with the show: the network, the studio, producers, executives." It was unclear if the recipients of his gift included costars, such as Martin Sheen, Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, Janel Moloney, Dulé Hill, Joshua Malina, and the late John Spencer, in the drama about the inner workings of a Democratic administration. The show won an impressive 26 Emmys over the course of its seven-season run, between 1999 and 2006. While the carton bit is funny now, the prank came during a pretty tense situation. Lowe had signed onto the show, created by Aaron Sorkin, with the expectation that Seaborn would be the main character. It ended up being an ensemble. Lowe has also explained that he had felt "very undervalued" and, during an August 2023 appearance on Stitcher Studios' Podcrushed podcast, gave an example from seeing his adult sons grew up. They were "getting to a certain age where I could see them having first girlfriends and being in a relationship that was abusive and taking it," Lowe said. "'She's the popular girl, everybody likes her, she's beautiful, it must be great' — all the things that people would say about making The West Wing to me. 'It's so popular, it's so amazing, it must be amazing.' But I know what it's like, and if I couldn't walk away from it, then how could I empower my kids to walk away from it?" He called his decision to leave "the best thing I ever did." In his TikTok, Lowe said that these days he has "love" for the show and "everybody in it." Stephen Colbert Ratings Soar After ‘Late Show' Is Cancelled
Ratings for Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" shot up after CBS cancelled the program. Stephen Colbert ratings were already better than his rivals. But after The Late Show was unexpectedly cancelled by CBS, viewership for the show has shot up. Colbert's viewership rose by 81% following news of the cancellation. He far outpaced his rivals on ABC and NBC, according to data provided by Samba TV, which offers TV technology for audience data and omniscreen measurement. During the week of June 26, prior to CBS's surprise announcement when all three shows aired new episodes, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert held a solid lead with 755,000 U.S. households tuning in compared to 698,000 for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC and 672,000 for Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC. However, following the July 17 announcement, the first week of new shows (July 21-24) for The Late Show jumped to average 1 million households. That was far ahead of Fallon's 650,000 and Kimmel's 565,000. 'According to Samba TV data, Colbert consistently outpaced his late-night peers by 8% to 12%, and in the wake of the cancellation news, his viewership spiked by 81% as audiences tuned in for his response,' said Alyson Sprague, vice president of measurement products at Samba TV. Why Did Stephen Colbert Ratings Shoot Up? People tuned in presumably hoping to find out an answer to the big question everyone has been asking: Why was Stephen Colbert cancelled? CBS has said the decision was purely financial, claiming the show loses tens of millions of dollars. But since Colbert still wears the late-night crown and that still has value, many have speculated there were other reasons for the decision, namely Colbert's criticism of President Donald Trump and recently declaration that CBS's settlement of a lawsuit by Trump was essentially a bribe to get its parent company's merger through regulatory hoops. Colbert addressed all that and more on Monday's show, where he also welcomed a slew of special guests, including fellow hosts Fallon, Seth Meyers (NBC), Jon Stewart (Comedy Central), John Oliver (HBO/Max), Andy Cohen (Bravo) and Anderson Cooper (CNN). Weird Al Yankovic and Lin-Manuel Miranda also appeared but were 'cancelled' in the middle of their bit. Undoubtedly people wanted to see how Colbert would address the cancellation. He didn't avoid the topic or pretend the decision was anything more than absurd, and he showed a lot of grace. What Will Happen To Stephen Colbert Ratings Now? CBS has said Colbert will stay on the air until May. It's easy to imagine his viewership will continue to be strong until then, as the host now has no reason to censor his thoughts (not that he seemed to be doing that before—his comedy has always involved taking strong stances on issues). Ironically, in cancelling Colbert, CBS may have created something that's been lacking in late night since the Jay Leno-Conan O'Brien debacle more than a decade ago—a water cooler moment. Everyone wants to talk about what's going to happen next. Of course, for the longer term, former late-night leader Fallon should benefit. 'By pulling the plug on The Late Show, CBS may be forfeiting its late-night crown, with Fallon and NBC now positioned to take the lead,' said Sprague.

Rob Lowe Sent ‘Missing' Milk Cartons to West Wing Producers During Behind-the-Scenes Feud
Rob Lowe Sent 'Missing' Milk Cartons to West Wing Producers During Behind-the-Scenes Feud originally appeared on Parade. When The West Wing first aired in 1999, fans could not get enough of the political drama. The man who was supposed to be at the center of it all? The '80s heartthrob Rob Lowe. However, things spiraled behind the scenes due to Lowe noticing his character being slowly written off and pay disputes around his salary. In August 2023, the actor opened up about the experience on Penn Badgley's 'Podcrushed' podcast and likened it to being in a toxic relationship."I walked away from the most popular girl at school, but I also knew that it was a super unhealthy relationship, and it was the best thing I ever did," he said. However before he walked away, he admitted he did something gloriously petty. 'So a lot has been talked about my issues — such as they were — on The West Wing which I love, I love that show and everybody in it, it's all good now,' Lowe started. 'But there were some difficulties. At one point they had sort of written me off the show." "I didn't feel like I had a lot to do and so I made these [milk cartons] and I sent them to everybody affiliated with the show, the network, the studio, the producers, executives.' He plastered his face on the side like they used to do for missing kids, and added stats for his jilted character. 'It's a milk carton. I sent these to everybody,' Lowe continued. 'Let's see what the stats are. Sam Seaborn, 170 pounds. Eyes: blue. Missing since the Christmas episode 2002. Please call Bernie Brilstein (my manager), if you've seen this man.' Fans thought that the move was nothing short of iconic. "Who writes Rob Lowe off a show ??? But your response is hilarious," wrote one amused fan. "We need a New West wing with Sam as President," demanded another. "I loved you on WW and was devastated when they sent you to run for office in California," said another. "It was never the same without Sam." While things have since smoothed over since, it was still a pretty boss move to pull. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Rob Lowe Sent 'Missing' Milk Cartons to West Wing Producers During Behind-the-Scenes Feud first appeared on Parade on Jul 25, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 25, 2025, where it first appeared.
