During a since-deleted stream on Twitch, the talented driver for Spire Motorsports called Mexico a "s--hole." This was before the Cup Series made its way over to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for this past Sunday's race. Shortly after receiving backlash for his behavior, Hocevar issued an apology to NASCAR fans around the world.
"When I answered that question on a stream, I was skeptical about the trip so far and believed everything I read or heard about Mexico City from people who more than likely also had never been here," Hocevar wrote on X. "Now that I've actually left my hotel a couple times and raced here in front of some of the most passionate fans I've ever seen, my opinion has changed. I am embarrassed by my comments, by the race I ran, and I may have to move here to hide out from Ricky anyway.
"Count this as another lesson for me in a season I've learned so much. Don't believe everything you hear without seeing it yourself. If anyone should give anyone or any place the benefit of the doubt it's me. I'm sorry Mexico City. Consider me an ally going forward and an example of getting off Twitch and seeing things with my own two eyes."
Despite this apology from Hocevar, he received a hefty punishment this Tuesday.

Additionally, he'll have to undergo cultural-sensitivity and bias-awareness training.

"These actions are consistent with Spire Motorsports' core value of RESPECT, which is something we proudly display on every race car, team uniform, trackside hauler, and digital channel," Spire Motorsports said in a statement. "Respect is not a slogan. It is a daily expectation that we 'walk the walk' in how we speak, compete, and serve the communities that welcome our sport.
"Carson's recent comments made during the livestream fell short of that standard. They did not represent the views of Spire Motorsports, our partners, or NASCAR. Carson has acknowledged his mistake publicly, and his prompt, sincere apology demonstrated personal accountability. We now take this additional step to underscore that words carry weight, and respect must be lived out loud."
NASCAR fans have applauded Spire Motorsports for this decision. As for Hocevar, it's very clear that he knows he messed up. Now it's up to him to gain people's trust back.

Big One Strikes At EchoPark Speedway, Eliminates Top Contenders

A massive crash on lap 69 of Saturday night's 260-lap Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway involved nearly half of the 40-car field, including many race favorites. The wreck was triggered on the backstretch when a push involving John Hunter Nemechek and Denny Hamlin went terribly wrong. The two were a few cars behind the front and when Hamlin turned down into the tightly packed, oncoming double-wide freight train the track was blocked. In addition to Hamlin and Nemechek, others involved in the crash were Austin Cindric, William Byron, Kyle Larson, Ryan Preece, Josh Berry, Carson Hocevar, Daniel Suarez, Kyle Busch, Noah Gragson, Joey Logano, Ross Chastain, Chase Briscoe, Corey LaJoie, Cody Ware, Brad Keselowski and Justin Haley. Those who were eliminated immediately were LaJoie, Cindric, Byron, Logano, Suarez, Chastain and Berry. Hamlin's and Briscoe's teams elected to work on their cars to try and get them back into the event; however, NASCAR eventually ruled Briscoe's chassis was bent and couldn't be fixed. The current car's toughness allowed others to continue with minor repairs. 'That's the risk you take by just jamming in there and being aggressive on restarts,' LaJoie said. 'I don't know why we're pushing like we're bumper cars at Frankie's Fun Park, but that's not to be surprised. I think there's a lot of guys that don't make wise decisions around these speedways.' Logano described it as 'total chaos.' 'I was right in the middle of the whole thing,' said Logano, who started on the pole and led 51 laps before being eliminated. 'It's just the crappy part of our racing sometimes. You get caught up in something you couldn't do anything about. Just wrong place at the wrong time.'

Ryan Blaney gets "caught up in other people's garbage" at Atlanta

While the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion is locked into the playoffs, the year has still been an up-and-down one for Ryan Blaney. On Lap 58, the intensity was picking up as the field raced toward the end of Stage 1. Christopher Bell ended up losing control, spinning sideways. Advertisement A handful of cars were collected including Bubba Wallace, AJ Allmendinger and Austin Dillon, but Blaney thought he was going to be okay. However, he got clipped on his way by and took the hardest hit of anyone as the No. 12 Team Penske Ford slammed the outside wall. He will finish 40th -- last place. After being released from the infield care center, Blaney said of the incident: "I couldn't see much. They kind of started spinning and coming down. I tried to get to the apron and by the time I got there, kind of got blocked. "Yeah, like you (the reporter) said, the story of our year. Just getting caught up in other people's garbage. Just when we get it going pretty good and find some momentum, we don't seem to have things go our way." Blaney also failed to finish the races at Phoenix, Las Vegas, Homestead, Talladega, and Charlotte. Last year, he had seven DNFs throughout the entire season and he's nearly matched that, halfway through 2025. "We see people pushing like dummies early, and then I just come in here and get pushed into it," said LaJoie after being shown the replay. "I come out of the smoke and every corner on my Mustang was knocked off of it. Unfortunately, that was the end of my day. Advertisement 'I don't know what we're doing. We just started the second stage. I don't know why we're pushing like we're damn bumper cars at Frankie's fun park. That's not to be surprised.
