Families could receive £400 worth of free white goods or free cash
The money is part of the Brent Resident Support Fund (RSF), a council-run scheme aimed at helping residents hit hardest by the cost of living crisis.
From food and fuel bills to mental health support and council tax arrears, the fund is designed to give a lifeline to those finding it tough to keep up with everyday expenses.
And the best part is that those who qualify, don't have to pay a penny back.
You could get help covering the cost of essentials like blankets, sanitary items, boiler repairs or even score a brand new washing machine or fridge if you've just moved into an unfurnished property.
There's a cap of £400 for white goods, while the total payout for any one household is up to £500.
But you'll have to act fast and make sure you meet the criteria.
Who is eligible?
To qualify, you need to:
Live in Brent
Be aged 18 or over
Have less than £6,000 in savings
Be struggling with day-to-day costs or facing an emergency
Only one application is allowed per couple every 12 months, so if your partner's already applied this year, you'll need to wait your turn.
To apply, you'll need to show recent bank statements for both you and your partner (if you have one), plus a recent utility bill.
Families can get FREE washing machines, fridges and kids' beds or £200 payments this summer – and you can apply now
If you're applying for help with internet access or tech, you'll need to use a separate digital form.
You can fill out the application online and if you get stuck, Brent Customer Services are on hand to help you through it.
The RSF is funded by Brent Council and the government's Household Support Fund, which has been extended to help Brits through another tough year of rising costs.
Household Support Fund explained
Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements explains what you need to know about the Household Support Fund.
If you're battling to afford energy and water bills, food or other essential items and services, the Household Support Fund can act as a vital lifeline.
The financial support is a little-known way for struggling families to get extra help with the cost of living.
Every council in England has been given a share of £421million cash by the government to distribute to local low income households.
Each local authority chooses how to pass on the support. Some offer vouchers whereas others give direct cash payments.
In many instances, the value of support is worth hundreds of pounds to individual families.
Just as the support varies between councils, so does the criteria for qualifying.
Many councils offer the help to households on selected benefits or they may base help on the level of household income.
The key is to get in touch with your local authority to see exactly what support is on offer.
And don't delay, the scheme has been extended until April 2025 but your council may dish out their share of the Household Support Fund before this date.
Once the cash is gone, you may find they cannot provide any extra help so it's crucial you apply as soon as possible.
It comes as more families turn to local authorities for help amid rocketing food prices, energy bills and housing costs.
To check if you're eligible and start your application, visit brent.gov.uk and search for the Resident Support Fund.
What if you don't live in Brent?
The £742million Household Support Fund has been allocated to councils across England to help residents facing financial hardship.
You do not need to live in Brent to apply.
If you're on a low income, receiving benefits, or struggling to afford essentials, you may be eligible for support.
The type of help available varies by area and may include cash payments, food vouchers, or help with energy bills.
Applications are handled by local councils. Some have already opened their schemes, while others are expected to launch soon.
Residents are advised to check their local council's website or social media for updates.
Many councils have dedicated Household Support Fund pages with details on how to apply.
In some cases, councils may contact eligible households directly by post.

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DANNY ARMSTRONG is set to sign his megabucks deal at Dinamo Bucharest in the next 24 hours. SunSport told on Tuesday how the ambitious Romanian side had made the winger an eye-watering offer. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Danny Armstrong is leaving Kilmarnock Credit: Kenny Ramsay It's thought Armstrong, who rejected a deal to stay at Kilmarnock, has now flown to Dinamo's pre-season training camp in Poland. He will undergo a medical today then put pen to paper on the life-changing contract. Dinamo weren't prepared to hang around with their season starting on July 12. After failing to win the title since 2007 they are spending huge sums to try to change that. Their Croatian boss Zeljko Kopic is on the hunt for a wideman and was desperate to land Armstrong. But they told him they wanted a quick answer and he will now link up with his new teammates as they prepare for the new season. Dinamo president Andrei Nicolescu has admitted they are close to landing Armstrong. He said: "Negotiations are very advanced between us and Danny Armstrong. He is very close to signing for Dinamo. "He is a very promising player and will play a big part in our long term plans. "We have decided to look at foreign players for the new season rather than sign the many Romanian players who are roaming around, having done nothing in their careers. Marc Palmer, Head of Strategy and Insight at Auto Trader said: 'Car buyers are still attracted by great value, which the HS offers in spades, and the fact it's selling a fortnight faster than the national average highlights just how popular it is. Sales of used cars have also seen an increase, at 29 days which is a day faster than June last year, and two days faster than the same period in 2023. Palmer added: 'The speed at which used cars sell is an accurate barometer of the strength of the used car market and our data suggests it remains in very robust health as we enter the summer months, as reflected in May's record 86.3 million site visits. 'As ever, there's huge nuance in the market, so I'd really encourage retailers to analyse the data and insights available to help spot the most profitable stock for your forecourt.' The fastest selling body type of cars were hatchbacks, which accounted for 50 per cent of the top ten sales, as well as convertibles in June. They have both taken around 28 days to sell. High street giant to shut UK store TODAY after announcing 33 shop closures with hundreds of jobs at risk
Find out if your local shop is affected SHOP DROPPED High street giant to shut UK store TODAY after announcing 33 shop closures with hundreds of jobs at risk Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A MAJOR clothing retailer is set to shut down a branch today - ahead of 33 more store closures. It comes as part of a proposed restructuring plan that aims to save the company from insolvency. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 River Island is set to shut 33 stores as part of a proposed redevelopment plan Credit: Getty River Island in Banbury, Oxfordshire is set to close on June 28, as shoppers will now have to travel to Rugby or Oxford to visit a brick-and-mortar shop. It's part of a wider plan to close 33 branches across the UK, affecting hundreds of jobs. River Island also wants its landlords to cut rent at an additional 71 stores that are struggling. The restructuring plan, developed with PricewaterhouseCoopers, will be put to creditors in August. A restructuring plan should help keep the company afloat and avoid insolvency. The decision was due to a shift in customers shopping online, as well as increased running costs. Ben Lewis, chief executive of River Island said: "River Island is a much-loved retailer, with a decades-long history on the British high street. "However the well-documented migration of shoppers from the high street to online has left the business with a large portfolio of stores that is no longer aligned to our customers' needs. "The sharp rise in the cost of doing business over the last few years has only added to the financial burden. 'We have a clear strategy to transform the business to ensure its long-term viability. "Recent improvements in our fashion offer and in-store shopping experience are already showing very positive results, but it is only with a restructuring plan that we will be able to see this strategy through and secure River Island's future as a profitable retail business. River Island confirms which 33 stores are shutting as a further 70 at risk in huge shake-up – is your local going? "We regret any job losses as a result of store closures, and we will try to keep these to a minimum.' River Island was founded in 1948 by Bernard Lewis and currently operates in around 230 stores, employing 5,500 people. It suffered losses of £33.2 million in 2023 after sales fell 19% according to the most recent set of accounts. The proposals will not affect trade creditors, employees at unaffected stores, or customers. Staff will be redeployed where possible to reduce job losses. The majority of the closures will come in January 2026. It comes as several major retailers struggle to survive on the high street. Popular clothing retailer New Look has already closed ten stores this year, with another two set to close in the coming weeks. Several banks have also undergone major restructuring plans - as NatWest is closing 55 stores this year, and Santander closes 95. After Poundland sold for £1 earlier this month, the company announced an upcoming 68 store closures.
