Chicago Pride Fest 2025 taking over Northalsted this weekend amid heat wave

Chicago Pride Fest 2025 will take over the streets of Northalsted this weekend.
The festival runs from June 21 to June 22, on Halsted Street between Addison and Grace streets. The event is free to attend, but a $20 donation is suggested to support festival organizers, equipment, and performers.
Performances will be on three stages throughout the weekend.
On Saturday, catch Jesse McCartney on the North Stage at 2 p.m., followed by the Pride Fest Drag Show. Deborah Cox will headline on the North Stage on Sunday at 2 p.m., followed by a performance by Aluna at 7:15 p.m.
Confidence Man, Hayla, Chrissy Chlapecka, and The Aces are also among the performers on this year's lineup.

Pride Fest will dedicate a Teen Pride Space near the Waveland + Broadway entrance for LGBTQ+ teens and allies ages 12-18.
Dangerous heat this weekend in Chicago
Festival goers will want to prepare for the extreme heat this weekend.
Highs will be in the mid-90s on Saturday, with a heat index over 100 degrees. By Sunday, highs are expected to reach near 97 degrees with sunny skies.
It is easy to become overheated and dehydrated in high temperatures, so it is essential to make sure you are drinking enough water. Heat exhaustion and heatstroke will be the main risks.
Heat exhaustion develops after several days of exposure to heat and inadequate or unbalanced fluid replacement. Heatstroke is a serious illness that happens when the body begins to lose its ability to regulate its own temperature and functions.
Heat exhaustion symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, irritability, thirst, heavy sweating, high body temperature and decreased urine output.
If you or someone you know is experiencing heat exhaustion move into a cool indoor space or shade immediately, give them liquids to drink, remove unnecessary clothing including shoes and socks, used cold water or a cold compress to cool the person down on their head, face and neck, and frequently sip cold water.
The CDC also encourages calling 911 or taking the person to an urgent care clinic or the emergency room for treatment.

With a total campaign goal of $4.5 million, the first two phases — budgeted at $1.6 million — will fund the initial development of a comprehensive recovery campus. (Reuters) -Elon Musk's brain implant company Neuralink aims to generate at least $1 billion in annual revenue by 2031, driven by plans to perform 20,000 surgeries per year, Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday, citing investor documents. The company aims to operate five large clinics within six years and offer three versions of its brain device, including Telepathy for communication between the brain and machines, Blindsight for restoring vision, and Deep for treating tremors and Parkinson's disease, according to the report. Neuralink did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. The company expects regulatory approval for its Telepathy device by 2029, with plans to perform 2,000 surgeries annually and generate $100 million in revenue, the report said. By 2030, Neuralink anticipates launching Blindsight, expanding surgeries to 10,000 per year and generating over $500 million in revenue. This Philadelphia summer camp shows kids how to prepare and enjoy healthy foods

A summer camp in Philadelphia is helping students learn about healthy cooking and giving them a safe, structured activity that's fun and empowering. This "Recipe for Summer Stability" is about learning and being healthy — and having some fun with food. At Vetri Cooking Lab at Mastery Charter in South Philly, students get hands-on food education. Students on Wednesday made burrito bowls filled with healthy vegetables and got plenty of instruction on safe chopping techniques. The classes for students in third through 12th grade are run by Vetri Community Partnership. CEO Maddy Booth said the organization helps kids stay engaged in learning and eating well during the summer, which can be challenging. "We want to provide the education that will help us make … really thoughtful decisions about food," Booth said. Doctors say eating healthy can be challenging in underserved neighborhoods, where there are often high rates of obesity and diabetes. This aims to change that by empowering the next generation with knowledge about the importance of healthy eating. "What we're trying to encourage folks to do is to eat and enjoy fruits and vegetables as part of their lives," Booth said. Fourteen-year-old Taylor-Marie Freeman said she likes trying new foods, and she's been enjoying lots of carrots at camp. "I feel like I'm eating more healthy here, more than at home," Freeman said. The recipes come with measurements and cooking instructions, and students learn how combining certain ingredients creates different tastes. "When we come in these classes, they get math in a different aspect that's outside the classroom, so they're still learning while cooking at the same time," teacher Sean Kelly said. The free camp runs at 12 locations around Philadelphia through the summer.
