
20 finalists for head-to-head challenge at Miss World Fest in Telangana
This highly anticipated segment of the Miss World competition has once again reaffirmed the importance of substance and advocacy in the realm of beauty with a purpose.
Held amid the cultural grandeur of India's youngest state, the Head-to-Head Challenge offered a platform for all 107 contestants from around the world to deliver compelling speeches on personal and global issues that matter deeply to them and to society.
The preliminary round witnessed a display of remarkable articulation, emotional depth, and unshakable commitment to meaningful causes.
The 20 finalists, selected after a meticulous evaluation process, demonstrated not only eloquence and intelligence but also courage and authenticity.
These young women stood out for their unwavering dedication to using their voices for change, illuminating stories of resilience, justice, mental health, education, sustainability, empowerment, and cultural identity.
The finalists advancing to the Head-to-Head Final this Friday are: (from Europe Region: Spain – Corina Mrazek; Wales – Millie-Mae Adams; France – Agathe Cauet; Germany – Silvia Dörre Sánchez and Ireland – Jasmine Gerhardt.
From the Americas & Caribbean Region: Brazil – Jessica Pedroso; Suriname – Chenella Rozendaal;
Cayman Islands – Jada Ramoon; Guyana – Zalika Samuels; Trinidad and Tobago – Anna-Lise Nanton while from the Asia & Oceania Region: Sri Lanka – Anudi Gunasekara;
Thailand – Opal Suchata Chuangsri; Turkiye – Idil Bilgen; Lebanon – Nada Koussa and Japan – Kiana Tomita.
From the Africa Region: South Africa – Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg;
Namibia – Selma Carlicia Kamanya; Somalia – Zainab Jama; Uganda – Natasha Nyonyozi and Zambia – Faith Bwalya.
Each of these finalists will present once more in the concluding round, their clarity, conviction, and commitment to advocacy will help determine the ultimate winner of this defining challenge.

Kedarnath Yatra suspended due to landslide near Sonprayag
Dehradun, July 3 (UNI) Uttarakhand government today temporarily suspended the Kedarnath pilgrimage following a landslide enroute the Himalayan temple near Sonprayag. An SDRF team safely rescued 40 pilgrims stranded in the landslide zone. Debris fell near Sonprayag on the way to Kedarnath Dham. The landslide led to blockade of Kedarnath road going towards the Himalayan temple at Munkatiya near Sonprayag. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) officials and Rudraprayag police informed that road at Munkatiya landslide area was completely blocked by the debris and boulders leading to complete halt of public movement. As the road could not be opened despite all efforts by the administration, the state government was forced to stop Chardham Yatra to Kedarnath. However, they did not inform about resumption of the pilgrimage. SDRF officials said that around 40 pilgrims returning from Kedarnath were stranded on the other side of the landslide. However, a team SDRF deployed at Sonprayag was able to rescue all stranded pilgrims safely and brought them to Sonprayag. The landslide took place late last night, when a large chunk of debris and rocks suddenly came down due to rains in the hill areas of the state. Meanwhile, vehicular movement beyond Silai Band area on Yamunotri Road could not be resumed even on the fourth day of the cloudburst triggering a landslide that killed three people and left seven missing till date. However, rescuers including teams of SDRF, local police and local administration were able to rescue 254 pedestrian pilgrims on the way to Yamunotri and Uttarkashi. Rescued pilgrims were stranded between Syana Chatti and Janki Chatti were safely evacuated. Although pedestrians are allowed to pass through the slide zone but it remained risky. UNI XC RN

Port of Spain/New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Port of Spain, on a two-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago, and in a special gesture, was welcomed at the airport by Prime Minister Kamala Persad Bissessar and the entire cabinet. PM Modi, in a post on X, thanked the T&T PM and her cabinet for the special welcome, and said the visit will further cement bilateral ties between the two nations. 'Landed in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. I thank Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, distinguished members of the Cabinet and MPs for the gesture of welcoming me at the airport. 'This visit will further cement bilateral ties between our nations. Looking forward to addressing a community programme in a few hours from now.' As his plane landed at Piarco International Airport, PM Kamala Persad Bissessar and the entire cabinet of Trinidad & Tobago, including 38 Ministers and four MPs were at the airport to receive the Indian PM. Indian High Commissioner to Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit was also present.
