Prince Louis Steals the Spotlight From Harry at VE Day Event
The 7-year-old Prince Louis, who has a reputation for alleviating the solemnity of official events by pulling funny faces, was on hand to keep the crowds entertained from the stands and later the Buckingham Palace balcony.
He ducked, pointed, and waved at the crowds as the British aerobatic team, the Red Arrows, painted the gray London skies red, white, and blue to mark the day.
Earlier, he had helped his father, Prince William, stay smart by giving his uniform a quick brush down during the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, which marks the fall of Berlin in 1945.
The young royal joined his future king father, 43, and his siblings George and Charlotte at the palace ahead of the marquee event kicking off four days of celebrations for the 80th VE Day.
Prince Harry, one of the few living royals to have seen active military service, was not invited to the event. He gave a scathing interview about his family to the BBC on Friday and the palace had briefed they didn't want his intervention to 'distract' from today's celebrations.
Seated beside his father, who was dressed in full military regalia, Louis was seen cheekily brushing down the shoulder of William's jacket—an endearing moment that didn't go unnoticed by news cameras.
Senior royals joined thousands of members of the public, watching a military procession through the streets of London.
Kate arrived with Charlotte and Louis, while King Charles and Queen Camilla followed shortly after, waving to the cheering crowds from their vehicle before joining the rest of the family.
Palace sources had briefed the media that they didn't want any Harry-shaped distractions from the long-planned event, which included a Royal Air Force flypast and balcony appearance by palace big guns alongside Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and British news organizations, in general, tactfully complied.
The young royals were surprise, last-minute attendees. It was their first official joint appearance since Christmas.
Thousands of Britons descended on the Mall and Buckingham Palace, in a recreation of the iconic scenes of May 1945, when jubilant crowds thronged the streets of London.
Among the cheering masses back then were two young princesses: Margaret and her sister Elizabeth, later the queen, who slipped out of the palace to join the crowd and experience the jubilation.

EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley tried weight loss jabs to lose 6.5st but one thing changed her mind
When we catch up with former EastEnders actress Lorraine Stanley at a glitzy London ball, she couldn't look more different to Karen Taylor, the lovable yet perpetually dishevelled mum she played on the BBC soap from 2017 to 2024. Not only is the 49-year-old looking über-glamorous as we chat at the Paul Strank Charitable Trust Summer Party – she's wearing a white sparkly dress which she proudly declares was purchased on Vinted – she's barely recognisable, having lost 6½st over two years. Lorraine, who has nine-year-old daughter Nancy with her fiancé Mark Perez, shares her excitement about tying the knot this month after a two-year engagement, the secrets behind her incredible weight loss and why she's happy, for now, to be her daughter's personal taxi service… Hi, Lorraine! We hear you're getting married later this month… I am indeed. I'm getting married to my partner in a ceremony local to where we live in Hertfordshire. It's going to be low-key. From my EastEnders gang, Danny Walters is coming. I wanted them all to come, but we're just having a small, intimate wedding at a church, then a pub with a tepee and barbecue. Will Nancy have a special part to play? She's the one wearing the big white wedding dress – well, the flower girl dress. Mine's modest, really. But I'm so excited. Mark and I have been together for 12 years. So why tie the knot now? We're just in a really good place. You know, every couple goes through their ups and downs, but it feels right, we're happy. Nancy wanted us to get married, I wanted his surname – I know some women don't want that but I do. I want to be Mrs Perez. I've been abroad a few times with Nancy and was asked if she's my daughter as we have different surnames on our passports. But it's not just practicalities, it's love. Why do you and Mark work so well together? We've got an understanding, we respect each other. We give each other space, we've got our own lives. He's the best father. He's in marketing, so nothing to do with my world, though I think he could be an actor – he can be quite dramatic at times! You're 50 next year. How do you feel? I'm feeling great. I looked 20 years older when I was bigger. I certainly felt it anyway. I won't have a big showbiz bash. We might go to Disney World Florida. We'll see. You look incredible. Tell us about the transformation… I've lost 6½st. I weigh 8st now. If you look at my little wrists and ankles, this is the weight I should have been. I should be a thin person. And I always was, until I hit my late twenties. How did you lose the weight? I'm not going to lie, nor am I promoting it, but I had weight-loss surgery two years ago. I had a gastric sleeve. I went to Harley Street. I didn't go to a clinic in Turkey or anything. In saying that, I've had friends who've gone to Turkey and had great experiences, but I didn't trust that process. So, yeah, I went to a London clinic, paid an awful lot of money and had it done. It's hands-down the best thing I've ever done – both for me and for my family. I can play with my daughter. I used to be so big I couldn't chase her up the road. I was missing out on so much – even playing a bit of football with her outside. It's changed everything. It's pretty drastic surgery. What was the big lightbulb moment? I was at home watching an episode of EastEnders I was in and I could barely look at myself. The person on screen was unrecognisable to me. I know TV puts a stone on you, but… so yes, there was an element of vanity, but it was also me wanting to change things for my daughter and our future. Did you try any weight-loss jabs before opting for surgery? Yeah, I'd tried Wegovy. I have friends on different weight-loss jabs and they work for them. I'm not against them, but for whatever reason I feel like I got immune to them. It got to the point where I was injecting myself and eating at the same time. I was thinking, 'What the hell are you doing?' So I decided that was it, time to get this surgery booked. Do you feel like a new woman? Where do I start? I'm healthier, I'm fitter and it's changed my mindset for the better. I still enjoy a square or two of chocolate, but everything's in small portions. I can eat what I want, just smaller amounts of it. It has been hard, though. You've got to work at your portions. You don't want to overeat as you can stretch the gastric band. And you don't want to do that as you've paid good money for it. But for me – and this is totally personal – it's the best thing I could have done. Would you go back on EastEnders? Maybe – they didn't kill me off. But right now, I wouldn't. I'm enjoying Nancy. On EastEnders, I missed a lot of milestones. Now I'm like her personal taxi driver for skateboarding, piano lessons – and I love it. I've gone for a few auditions. I haven't got anything yet, but I will. And if I don't, I don't mind that either. I'm so happy being a mum. Would you go on any of the big reality TV shows? If the money was amazing, maybe. But it's not my thing. I love acting, theatre especially, so I want to try and keep on that path. I'd love a role at the National Theatre. That's where I started my career, so it would be a nice full-circle moment. And Just Like That…: Here's What We Want to See for Each Character Before the Show Ends
Pour us another round of cosmos, because we're preparing ourselves to say goodbye to the ladies of And Just Like That. HBO Max's Sex and the City sequel series is officially ending after three seasons — which means we only have two episodes left with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and the rest of the gang. (The series finale airs Thursday, Aug. 14 at 9/8c.) And there are plenty of loose plot threads still hanging out there, so showrunner Michael Patrick King and the writers will have to work hard to come up with a pair of final episodes that will wrap everything up in a nice, chic bow. Carrie She already said goodbye to Aidan, so we don't have to worry about her making that mistake again. And she does have solid chemistry with her fellow writer Duncan. We're most excited, though, about her new journey as a novelist. So we'd love it if Carrie's new book became a sensation and took her to London, where she could cozy up with Duncan — and also reunite with a certain someone… Samantha Hello, fabulous! The fact that Duncan lives in London gives And Just Like That the perfect excuse to bring back fellow London resident Samantha for a much-needed reunion. It just wasn't the same without Samantha Jones around, and a Kim Cattrall cameo in the finale (however brief) would help it feel like a proper send-off — not just to this show but to Sex and the City, too. Miranda We've been liking her low-key romance with Joy so far — a lot more than her volatile hook-up with Che, anyway — and we wouldn't mind seeing those two get a happy ending. But we still have a soft spot for Steve: It'd be nice to see him and Miranda mend fences and spend some time together with Brady as a family before And Just Like That signs off for good. (And no, yelling at Brady for getting a girl pregnant doesn't count.) Charlotte Yes, we're happy her husband Harry is cancer-free, and Charlotte seems content balancing her work at the art gallery with her life at home being a mom. But mostly, we want to see Charlotte step into the spotlight a little more in the final two episodes and push for her own happiness, rather than just being a dutiful housewife or a supportive shoulder for Carrie to cry on. This woman has feelings, too! We've known that since way back in the Sex and the City days, and we'd like to see a little of that old sparkle again. Seema Seema is the most compelling new character And Just Like That gave us, so it's a shame that we have to say goodbye to her so soon. But we're enjoying the unlikely romance she's having with landscaper Adam, and we'd love to see that love, um, bloom in the final two episodes. Plus, she needs to sign a big client and get her new firm on track. Lisa Michelle Obama needs to show up and make a cameo in the final two episodes, if only to justify all the talk about her being a part of Lisa's long-gestating documentary. And no, we don't need to see Lisa have a fling with her editor Marion. She's too dedicated to her family to do anything that impulsive. Anthony He already has his happily-ever-after all sewn up with that Italian stallion Giuseppe, so we just need mom Patti LuPone's approval to seal the deal. But it would be nice to see the show acknowledge his ex (and Carrie's bestie) Stanford, played by the late Willie Garson, one more time before it signs off. Nya Hey, remember her? After two seasons as Miranda's professor pal, Nya dropped off the radar completely in Season 3, so we'd love to see her at least pop in to say hi and get some closure in the final two episodes.
