Star Wars Zero Company looks like XCOM with Jedi and droids

Yahoo19-04-2025
EA and Lucasfilm shared first look at Star Wars Zero Company, a new single-player strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, at Star Wars Celebration in Japan. The game was originally announced in 2022 as one of three new Star Wars titles being developed or co-developed by Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, including a new first person shooter and another entry in the Jedi series. There isn't a firm release date yet, but Star Wars Zero Company will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in 2026.
"In Star Wars Zero Company, players will step into the shoes of Hawks, a former Republic officer, to command an elite squad of cunning operatives through a gritty and authentic story set in the twilight of the Clone Wars," according to a press release published alongside the announcement trailer.
Star Wars Zero Company was born out of a collaboration between Respawn and a new studio called Bit Reactor. The inspiration the game clearly draws from XCOM: Enemy Unknown and other Firaxis strategy games didn't happen by accident. Bit Reactor's staff includes some former Firaxis' employees, and the founder and creative director of Bit Reactor, Greg Foertsch, was a senior art director on XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2.
"Our vision for Star Wars Zero Company is grounded in gameplay design pillars that weave in the immersive Star Wars galaxy with engaging turn-based tactics gameplay," Foertsch said in a statement. "It's our aim to deliver a game with an original Star Wars story from the Clone Wars era that has meaningful outcomes from player choices, and deep turn-based tactical combat with an approachable and cinematic presentation."
Striking some kind of balance between the mass appeal of Star Wars and the niche expectations of strategy and tactics fans has always been the goal of Zero Company. In an interview with PC Gamer in 2024, Foertsch and Bit Reactor's lead animator Hector Antunez (another XCOM alum) suggested that they wanted their Star Wars game to have the cinematic storytelling of Respawn's games without missing out on a satisfying strategy experience. "I don't think that complexity equals depth," Foertsch said, "and I think that that's really what we're focused on. Differentiating that nuance between those two things."

AHSOKA's Ezra Bridger Actor Shows Off Lightsaber Skills in New Video — GeekTyrant

Eman Esfandi is proving he's more than ready to wield a lightsaber again in Ahsoka Season 2. The actor, who brought the live-action version of Ezra Bridger to life in the first season, recently shared a video on social media showcasing his impressive lightsaber moves—and it has fans hyped for what's coming next. Esfandi posted the clip on Instagram with the caption: "This little light(saber) of mine, I'm gonna let it shine." Following an outpouring of excitement from fans, he added: "Y'all got me hyped up thank you for the love, may the force be with you." Filming for Ahsoka season 2 is already underway, something Esfandi himself confirmed back in March when he reposted an Instagram story from the set. More recently, co-star Ivanna Sakhno revealed the series is 'in the middle of filming,' teasing that the new season will be 'bigger' and 'even more in-depth.' The second season of Ahsoka was announced in January 2024, but cameras didn't start rolling until March 2025. Story details are still under wraps, but fans can expect some major payoffs after that season 1 cliffhanger. We last saw Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) stranded after helping Ezra escape Peridea, while Grand Admiral Thrawn ( Lars Mikkelsen) began his ominous return to power. If that's not enough to get you excited, Hayden Christensen is confirmed to return as Anakin Skywalker after his brief but memorable appearance in season 1. Christensen even dropped out of a recent Comic-Con appearance due to overnight shoots, which could hint at a bigger role for the Jedi legend this time around. On top of that, Admiral Ackbar is set to appear and will apparently go head-to-head with Thrawn, which sounds like an epic showdown in the making. Ahsoka Season 2 doesn't have a release date yet.

Is Battlefield 6 cross-platform?

Every online multiplayer shooter these days needs to have cross-platform support to stand a chance, but Battlefield 6 might as well be dead on arrival without this functionality. This is because, unlike games like Borderlands 4 or Gears of War: Reloaded, multiplayer matches in Battlefield 6 will feature 64-player warzones. That's a huge lobby to fill if the game is only matching you with other players on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC. Before you pick your class and prepare to experience the destructive multiplayer waiting in Battlefield 6, I'll give you the sitrep on its cross-platform support. Is Battlefield 6 cross-platform? First reported by Eurogamer, it is confirmed that Battlefield 6 will feature full crossplay support on all platforms. Unlike the last entry, Battlefield 2042, this game will not be available on last-gen systems. That means crossplay will let you squad up with friends across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. For those who wish to only play with others on their specific platform, the option to disable crossplay will be available. Sadly, it was also confirmed that Battlefield 6 won't be coming to the Switch 2. Recommended Videos As far as why Battlefield 6 will be skipping the Switch 2, Vince Zampella stated that the core Battlefield fanbase is on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Battlefield 6 will also have full cross-progression support. This means players will be able to take all their progress, including skins, ranks, guns, levels, and more, from one platform to another. You will still need to purchase the game on additional platforms, but at least you won't have to start the grind over if you do want to play on two platforms. With nine maps at launch and a return to the classic class-based structure, cross-platform support was the last missing piece Battlefield 6 needed to set itself up for success when it launches on October 10, but you can get a taste of the action early by playing the beta test in August if it isn't too late.
