Dubai-based Autoworld invests in Jafza facility to drive regional growth
The 162,000-square-foot hub will boost Autoworld's regional operations and meet rising demand for Bajaj's two- and three-wheelers across the MEA region, according to a press disclosure.
Set for completion by 2026, the hub will feature an assembly plant for Bajaj motorcycles and three-wheelers, along with storage and distribution units for spare parts, tyres, and lubricants.
It is also expected to back new product launches through partnerships with global manufacturers.
It is worth highlighting that the global two- and three-wheeler market is growing rapidly, with Africa's segment alone projected to expand by nearly 5% annually due to increasing demand for affordable, fuel-efficient mobility.
Commenting on the move, Abdulla Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer of Parks and Zones at DP World GCC, stated: 'Autoworld's expansion underscores the strength of Jafza's integrated trade and logistics ecosystem, which now connects 940 automotive companies from 88 countries.'
He continued: 'Last year alone, Jafza supported automotive trade valued at nearly AED 102 billion. We are proud to support long-term partners like Autoworld, who are helping connect world-class manufacturing with high-potential markets through Dubai.'
The project is expected to secure over 100 direct and indirect jobs, further anchoring Dubai's growing mobility and logistics ecosystem.
Autoworld has operated from Jafza for more than 16 years, distributing Bajaj vehicles to over 25 countries.
The investment supports DP World's strategy to boost regional auto trade and develop the world's largest car market in Dubai, aiming to double the current annual sales figure of AED 6.80 billion.

RTA completes key traffic upgrades on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of rapid traffic improvement measures to enhance connectivity between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road via Al Meydan Street. The works included widening the exit from Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Meydan Street from one lane to two and increasing the capacity of the bridge over First Al Khail Road from three to four lanes to accommodate vehicles travelling between Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Hadiqa Street in both directions, said RTA in a statement. Additionally, RTA expanded the connecting ramps between the surface road and the bridge over First Al Khail Road from one lane to two, improving access for vehicles heading towards Al Khail Road and Al Meydan Street. These enhancements reflect RTA's continued efforts to realise the vision of the wise leadership by proactively responding to the emirate's rapid urban and population growth. Through ongoing infrastructure development and road network optimisation, RTA aims to meet evolving mobility needs and support future expansion, said the statement. This achievement is part of RTA's master plan to deliver more than 75 traffic improvement projects across key areas of Dubai in 2025. It aligns with RTA's strategy for sustainable development aimed at improving quality of life, enhancing community well-being, and further cementing Dubai's position as a global leader in integrated infrastructure and seamless, sustainable mobility. According to RTA, the project also included widening the Exit No. (D69) from one lane to two for vehicles travelling from Sheikh Zayed Road towards Al Khail Road and Al Meydan Street. This expansion effectively doubled the exit's capacity from 1,500 to 3,000 vehicles per hour. As a result, travel times during peak morning and evening periods were reduced by up to 40%, while vehicle queue lengths decreased by as much as 50%, it stated. As part of broader efforts to enhance traffic flow and improve the efficiency of Dubai's Road network, RTA also increased the capacity of the bridge over First Al Khail Street from three to four lanes in both directions. UAE's GCAA no longer provides drone services; applicants must register in official website
The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has announced that it no longer provides drone services in the country. Instead, it asked applicants to apply through an official website for drones. 'Drone services are no longer available through GCAA. You can apply for drone services via the regulator said in a statement on its website, adding that applicants will have to submit their request through the designated platform. The website displays logos of the UAE Cybersecurity Council and GCAA, meaning it is jointly run by the two entities. Through this platform, UAE residents can register as a pilot, get access to real-time situational awareness to create effective missions for drone operations, receive immediate approvals for missions in controlled airspace, get live updates of airspace to fly drones safely, and get detailed reports of drone flights. In May 2025, the UAE Cybersecurity Council announced th e first national guidelines for drones due to their increasing use in various sectors such as agriculture, environmental monitoring, and logistics. It said it was imperative to establish the necessary operational signals to proactively address potential cyber threats to protect airspace, infrastructure, and data integrity. In 2022, the UAE banned the use of drones and light sports aircraft for 'owners, practitioners and enthusiasts' after instances of misuse. However, on January 7, 2025, individuals in the UAE were allowed to use drones after the Ministry of Interior announced the partial lifting of the ban. The authority, along with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), noted that the use of drones would be subject to specific safety conditions aimed at protecting both the community and the airspace. GCAA said in a press conference in January that drone operators in the UAE would have to abide by the requirements and regulations of the federal government as well as the emirate they're operating in. The website has also listed three companies: Emirates Falcon Aeroclub in Al Ain, Melaaha Drones in Fujairah and Versa Aerospace in Abu Dhabi for training purposes. The platform provides links to register, for those operating drones for recreational purposes, and for commercial and government entities. It also lists a manual which has the complete guidelines for operating drones in the country. The manual provides do's and don'ts in terms of times, airspace, areas to operate drones, guidelines to register, set up an account, and flight requests among others.
