WI vs AUS: Australia thrash West Indies 5-0 in T20I series, become first team to achieve unique feat
Australia etched their name into the history books by becoming the first team to whitewash a full-member nation 5-0 in a five-match T20I series. The feat was sealed with a composed three-wicket win over West Indies in the final game of their Caribbean tour.
Having already secured the Test series 3-0, the Australians wrapped up their eight-match tour unbeaten with an emphatic 8-0 clean sweep that underlines their dominance across formats.

The visitors won the toss for the eighth time in a row and chose to bowl first. West Indies, despite flashes of aggression from Shimron Hetmyer (52 off 31) and Sherfane Rutherford (35 off 17), were bundled out for 170 in 19.4 overs. Australia's attack remained sharp, with Ben Dwarshuis (3-41), Nathan Ellis (2-32), and Adam Zampa (1-20 in his 100th T20I) keeping the hosts in check.
The chase wasn't smooth sailing. Australia were rattled early by Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph, slipping to 29/3 inside three overs. Holder struck twice in one over, including the dismissal of Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck, while Joseph knocked over skipper Mitch Marsh and later claimed the dangerous Tim David.
However, a brisk 63-run stand between Mitchell Owen (37 off 17) and Cameron Green (32 off 18) turned the game.

Akeal Hosein briefly revived West Indies' hopes with a tidy spell of 3/17, removing Owen, Green, and Dwarshuis. But Aaron Hardie's unbeaten 28 ensured Australia crossed the line with three wickets in hand and three overs to spare.
The series sweep not only highlights Australia's T20 depth but also sets a new benchmark in bilateral T20I dominance between full-member nations.

Jasprit Bumrah To Skip Asia Cup? 'If India Plays Final, No Way He Can Play Vs West Indies'
Last Updated: There's just a two-day gap between the end of Asia Cup 2025 and start of India-West Indies 1st Test in Ahmedabad. Is Jasprit Bumrah set to miss another major Interational tournament? Given the schedule and his workload management, India could very well be without their pace spearhead for the next month's Asia Cup tournament that starts from September 9 in the UAE. Bumrah was on Friday released from India's Test squad for the ongoing five-match series against England being played for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The 31-year-old played three Tests and despite India needing a win in the final Test, currently underway at The Oval, he wasn't picked in the playing XI for a fourth game with the team management sticking to their original workload plan that required him to play in three of the five matches. Bumrah To Prioritise Tests? The Asia Cup will be played from September 9 to 28 in T20 format. The tournament was to be held in India but given the diplomatic tensions with Pakistan, UAE has been picked as a neutral venue. India are slated to host West Indies for a two-Test series that starts from October 2. Now, should India qualify for the Asia Cup final, it will leave Bumrah with just two days to rest and gear up for the West Indies series – a highly unlikely scenario given his fitness history. 'It will be a tricky call, but Bumrah loves Test cricket and there are World Test Championship points at stake. As far as T20 is concerned, he can play the series against New Zealand in January, which will be a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup," a BCCI source was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. 'If Bumrah plays Asia Cup and suppose India plays the final, no way can he play against West Indies at Ahmedabad. Obviously, the question arises, do you need Bumrah against West Indies or he plays Asia Cup after a month's break and plays the two Tests against South Africa. That call, Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir will have to take," the source added. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Mohammed Siraj pays tribute to ex-England batter Graham Thorpe by wearing special white headband
Mohammed Siraj with a special headband to honour ex-England batter Graham Thorpe, who passed away a year ago. (Getty Images) Mohammed Siraj showcased his sportsmanship by wearing a headband to honour late England cricket legend Graham Thorpe during the fifth Test match against England at The Oval. While delivering an outstanding bowling performance, Siraj claimed four crucial wickets, leading India's comeback in the post-lunch session and becoming the series' leading wicket-taker with 18 scalps. The second day of the Test match was dedicated to Graham Thorpe, who passed away in August last year. The English players wore headbands as a tribute to one of cricket's finest left-handed batter. Despite not being mandatory for visiting players, Siraj chose to participate in this gesture of remembrance. Prasidh Krishna press confefence: On sledging Joe Root, special chat with Mohammed Siraj and more This was not Siraj's first display of respect during the series. Earlier, he had dedicated a wicket celebration to Liverpool and Portugal footballer Diogo Jota, who lost his life in a road accident in June. Siraj's bowling performance proved decisive in changing the course of the match. England, who had started strongly at 92-0 and later 129-1, were restricted to 247 runs, managing only a 23-run first-innings lead. The post-lunch session witnessed Siraj's exceptional bowling spell. His sharp in-swinging deliveries dismantled England's middle order, claiming the important wickets of Ollie Pope and Joe Root through LBW decisions. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo Jacob Bethell, making his series debut, became Siraj's third victim, falling to another LBW decision. The Indian fast bowler completed his four-wicket haul by dismissing Harry Brook, the last England batsman, with an in-swinging delivery that hit the stumps. Siraj's performance in the series has been remarkable. His 18 wickets put him ahead of England captain Ben Stokes, who has 17 wickets despite playing one game less. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as Siraj has been one of only two pacers, alongside Chris Woakes, to participate in all five Tests of the series.
