She's made a name for herself not only for her contributions off the bench but also for sticking up for Caitlin Clark during a game on June 17 against the Connecticut Sun.
After Clark was poked in the eye by Sun guard Jacy Sheldon and sent to the floor by Sheldon's teammate, Marina Mabrey, Cunningham saw her opportunity and intentionally fouled Sheldon hard later in the game.
She was later praised for that by Fever fans but that's just who she is. The 28-year-old also has the support of her family members. Her cousin, former Iowa and now Missouri college football player Gavin Hoffman, posted photos in his new threads on Instagram.
Cunningham headed to the comment section to send a warning to his doubters.

"🔥yes sir!!! Stop playin with him," Cunningham said.

Hoffman, an Overland Park, Kansas native, played his freshman season at Clark's alma mater, the University of Iowa, before transferring this offseason to Cunningham's alma mater, the University of Missouri.
The 6-foot-5 tight end didn't see the field last season after redshirting. Hoffman will have four years of eligibility remaining.
As for Cunningham, she played for Missouri's women's basketball team from the 2015-16 season through 2018-19. Over her four-year college career, she averaged 16.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

Cincinnati Bengals' 53-man roster projection following 2025 offseason
The Cincinnati Bengals remade the roster this offseason through free agency and the draft, never mind the big-name departures. Much of the Bengals 53-man depth chart changes will happen on the defensive side of the ball, where mainstays like Germaine Pratt and Sam Hubbard are out and even rookies can step into major starting roles. Advertisement Here's a quick rundown of an updated 53-man roster prediction heading into July. Quarterback (2): Joe Burrow, Jake BrowningCut: Logan Woodside, Payton Thorne No shockers here, with the third quarterback possibly stashed on the practice squad. Running back (3): Chase Brown, Samaje Perine, Zack MossCut: Gary Brightwell, Tahj Brooks, Quali Conley, Kendall Milton The Bengals really like Tahj Brooks, but finding a roster spot at the expense of another could be tricky. RELATED: Bengals, Shemar Stewart nuclear option includes 2026 NFL draft route Wide receiver (6): Ja'Marr Chase, Jermaine Burton, Tee Higgins, Andrei Iosivas, Charlie Jones, Jordan MooreCut: Cole Burgess, Jamoi Mayes, Rashod Owens, Mitchell Tinsley, Isaiah Williams, Kendric Pryor Undrafted Jordan Moore just edges out Isaiah Williams, a former waiver wire claim, for the final spot. It's one of the more heated battles about to unfold. Tight end (4): Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, Tanner Hudson, Tanner McLachlanCut: Cam Grandy, Kole TaylorIR: Erick All Jr. Advertisement Erick All Jr. is a bigger loss than most have acknowledged nationally. Offensive line (10): Orlando Brown Jr., Cordell Volson, Ted Karras, Matt Lee, Dylan Fairchild, Lucas Patrick, Amarius Mims, Cody Ford, Jaxson Kirkland, Jalen RiversCut: Devin Cochran, Seth McLaughlin, Tashawn Manning, Andrew Coker, Caleb Etienne, Andrew Stueber The Bengals would probably love to find room for Seth McLaughlin, but he's an injury-list candidate, perhaps. Defensive line (10): T.J. Slaton, B.J. Hill, Kris Jenkins, McKinnley Jackson, Trey Hendrickson, Joseph Ossai, Cedric Johnson, Myles Murphy, Cam Sample, Shemar StewartCut: Raymond Johnson III, Isaiah Thomas, Dante Barnett, Howard Cross III, Eric Gregory This is a big number to keep, but the lack of experience and need for versatility almost demands it. Linebacker (5): Logan Wilson, Maema Njongmeta, Barrett Carter, Oren Burks, Demetrius Knight Shaka Heyward, Craig Young, Joe Giles-Harris Advertisement The remake is complete, with Demetrius Knight starting next to Logan Wilson. Cornerback (6): Dax Hill, DJ Turner, Cam Taylor-Britt, Josh Newton, DJ Ivey, Jalen DavisCut: Nate Brooks, Jalen Davis, Lance Robinson, Bralyn Lux, Marco Wilson The youth movement will see Josh Newton get some big snaps, rotating with the new, young Big Three here. Safety (4): Jordan Battle, Geno Stone, Tycen Anderson, Daijahn AnthonyCut: P.J. Jules, Jaylen Key, Shaquan Loyal The Bengals are adamant about going with the Stone-Battle combo again. The backups remain intriguing depth pieces, at least. Special Teams (3): Evan McPherson, Ryan Rehkow, Cal AdomitisCut: William Wagner No drama here this offseason after names like Austin McNamara provided intrigue last offseason. L.A. County firefighters to receive Pat Tillman Award at ESPYs
This year's Pat Tillman Award for Service will be presented to two Los Angeles County firefighters during the ESPY awards. (Mark J. Terrill / Mark Terrill/invision/ap) In January, as wildfires tore through greater Los Angeles, more than 7,500 emergency personnel mobilized — confronting searing heat and extreme winds, trying to contain the devastation. Among them stood an Olympic gold medalist and a professional soccer champion. Advertisement L.A. County firefighters David Walters and Erin Regan, former athletes who were among the 7,500 emergency personnel who responded to the January wildfires in Southern California, earned them this year's Pat Tillman Award for Service that will be presented at the ESPY Awards. The award — named after Tillman, the former Arizona Cardinals safety who left the NFL to enlist in the Army following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and was killed in action — celebrates those with deep ties to sports who have served others, embodying Tillman's legacy. Fire helmet is much more than a good-luck charm Years before joining the fire department, Walters helped the U.S. win the 4x200-meter freestyle relay gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Games. He swam the lead leg in the preliminaries, helping the team set an Olympic record that paved the way for a world-record win in the final. Advertisement During the fires, Walters recounted the exhausting conditions as crews fought blazes that scorched nearly 38,000 acres — claiming the lives of 30 people and destroying homes, businesses and landmarks in Altadena and the Pacific Palisades. 'We're pretty much trying to keep what is left here standing,' Walters told NewNation. 'So we're not laying down. We're staying in our position — that's correct, I did sleep on top of the hose bed last night, just staying ready to do what we can still do." Walters told ESPN he is honored to serve Los Angeles. "This has been a challenging year, but also a rewarding one as we watched the Los Angeles community come together to support their neighbors," he said in ESPN's award announcement. Read more: Plaschke: The unbearable guilt of losing nothing — and everything — in the Altadena wildfire Outside of firehouse duties, Regan champions female representation in the fire service. She co-founded Girls' Fire Camp, a one-day program introducing young girls to firefighting, and launched the Women's Fire Prep Academy, offering mentorship and hands-on training for aspiring female firefighters. 'My career choice was inspired by my family's history of public service, so receiving this award is a tribute to the many great influences that shaped my upbringing," Regan said in ESPN's award announcement. "As first responders, we take pride in hard work and serving others, and I'm truly humbled to be recognized alongside incredible heroes like Pat Tillman.' Caitlin Clark Debuts Her First Nike Player Edition Sneaker: Kobe 5 Protro PE
Kobe 5 It's been rumored for some time that Caitlin Clark would eventually get her own Nike sneaker. Sneaker blogs, forum threads, and online sleuths have speculated for months analyzing her game-day pair, piecing together what they could from blurry sideline shots and limited leaks. But without any official word from Nike, the chatter slowly faded. That is, until June 29th, when Nike unveiled the Caitlin Clark Kobe 5 "Protro PE"sneaker in a new commercial. In the commercial, Clark sits in the locker room with her head down and eyes closed, seemingly meditating before a game. When she opens her eyes, her pupils shift, morphing into the shape of snakes, a subtle yet powerful nod to the Mamba, a marker and nickname to the late Kobe Bryant, whose legacy the shoe continues to honor. The Nike Kobe 5 'Protro PE' isn't a signature player sneaker, as many had hoped, but rather a Player Edition (PE) colorway. It comes dressed in the Indiana Fever's team color: dark navy, crimson orange, and an electric university gold outlining the Swoosh. On social media, Nike wrote: 'When @caitlinclark22 laces her new Kobe 5 Protro PE, she steps into a new dimension. Noise fades, focus hits, and all that's left is her drive to dominate. The shoe drops June 30th on SNKRS in select regions." Caitlin Clark wearing Kobe 5 Originally released in 2009 by Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, the Kobe 5 is known for its relaxed Air Zoom unit and EKG-inspired traction pattern on the rubber outsole for on-court grip. Its' structured upper, which is a bit more minimalistic, provides a lightweight yet sturdy and supportive fit. Caitlin Clark first debuted the sneakers last year, but in March 2025, sneaker insiders officially leaked an original colorway noting that it was designed in collaboration with Clark. And the hype and demand around them is high. One X user joked, 'Can't wait for all the bots to buy them and see them on StockX for a K.' And that might just be the case for real fans anticipating the release. According to Sneaker Sense, a well-known sneaker insider account, 'Only 13,000 pairs of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro x Caitlin Clark 'Indiana Fever' are set to release this Monday on the SNKRS app.' Sports Illustrated's Kicks On SI notes that while this number has been widely reported, it has not been officially confirmed. 'It's also important to note,' they add, 'that the 13,000-pair estimate only accounts for Nike's SNKRS app in the U.S., and doesn't include additional stock from other retailers like Foot Locker or Dick's Sporting Goods.' Sports Illustrated Kicks continues, "Regardless, if that estimate is even close to being accurate, it spells a challenging time for online shoppers. Given the low supply and extremely high demand, many fans will be unsuccessful in buying the basketball shoes this Monday." Whether you're a fan of the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark, or Kobe himself, it's easy to see why this release would be kept limited. And with all the hype, it only fuels anticipation for what a true player-exclusive sneaker from Caitlin Clark could look like in the future. Online shoppers can buy the sneakers for $190 in adult sizes on the Nike SNKRS app and at select retailers.
