One of the greatest linebackers in Alabama Crimson Tide football history has now officially called it a career.
Yes, on Thursday morning, former Alabama and NFL star C.J. Mosley officially announced his retirement from the game of football following 11 seasons in the league. Mosley is the second former Alabama great to announce their retirement from the NFL so far this offseason, joining wide receiver Julio Jones.
A former first round pick from the 2014 NFL draft, Mosley played for two different teams across his 11 seasons in the league, the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets. Over that span, Mosley had a combined 1,083 tackles, 55 TFL, 12 sacks, 12 interceptions, 10 forced fumbles, and nine fumble recoveries from 2014-24, while also making five Pro Bowl appearances.
At Alabama from 2010-13, Mosley was a multi-year starter at inside linebacker for Alabama who compiled a total of 317 tackles, 24 TFL, 6.5 sacks, five interceptions, and two forced fumbles during his time in Tuscaloosa. Mosley was also a two-time national champion, a two-time All-American, the 2013 Butkus Award winner, and the 2013 SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team. Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook. Next up is offensive lineman Christian Jones. Christian Jones background, 2024 season Jones enters his second NFL season and with the Cardinals. He was drafted in the fifth round last year out of Texas, where he played six seasons, starting every single game of his final four. He began his rookie season on injured reserve for the first seven weeks. After he was activated, he was inactive as a healthy scratch for the next eight games. He ended up starting the season finale in Week 18 after Paris Johnson, Jonah Williams and Jackson Barton all ended up on injured reserve and Kelvin Beachum started at left tackle. He played 74 total offensive snaps in two games. Christian Jones 2025 contract details, cap hit Jones signed a four-year rookie deal worth $4.33 million. In 2025, he will make $960,000 as his salary if he makes the active roster and will count $1.04 million against the cap. Questions he faces, roster outlook Jones didn't get much of an opportunity to show much but wasn't terrible in his one start. The Cardinals' three top tackles of Johnson, Williams and Beachum return and are roster locks, so Jones' spot on the roster isn't certain. He is on the roster bubble entering camp but perhaps is one of the favorites of the bubble players. He will battle for one of the one or two final offensive line spots, whether they keep nine or 10 on the roster. He won't make the regular eight-man rotation that will be active on game days, as they need a swing tackle, which is Beachum, a backup center and a swing guard. So Jones' play will be notable to watch, especially with the versatile Nick Leverett on the roster and the addition of undrafted rookie Josh Fryar. Texans lock up second-round OT Aireontae Ersery ahead of training camp
Aireontae Ersery is now signed, sealed and delivered as the newest signed member of the Houston Texans. According to KPRC 2 Sports' Aaron Wilson, the Texans and their second-round offensive tackle have agreed to a four-year deal worth up $9.2 million. As of now, the full guarantees of the contract have yet to be released. With Ersery signed, the Texans have agreed to terms with all nine players of their rookie class ahead of Wednesday's start of training camp. As the second of two second-round picks, Ersery's arrival is significant since multiple second-round picks remain unsigned heading into training camp because of contract details. Earlier this offseason, the Texans made history by signing Iowa State wide receiver Jayden Higgins to a four-year fully guaranteed deal worth $11.8 million, making him the first second-round pick in NFL history to have a fully guaranteed contract. Since then, it's delayed a majority of second-round picks from reaching deals for weeks. Drafted 48th overall out of Minnesota, Ersery is expected to compete with both Blake Fisher and Cam Robinson for starting reps at either left or right tackle. He had worked out on both sides of the trenches during OTAs and is expected to do the same through training camp until one player steps up to lock down one side of the offensive line. The third-team All-American in 2024 with the Golden Gophers, Ersery allowed only one sack and one quarterback hit last season. He played mostly left tackle in college, playing seven snaps at right tackle and three at guard over his three seasons in Minneapolis. 'The biggest thing with Ersery is getting acclimated to learning what it takes to be a pro," Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said last month. "I see Ersery, he's steadily gotten better at the things off the field, of finding his routine, and also on the field, just seeing his footwork, his pad leverage, is getting better, it's improving.' While Ersery may or may not start in his rookie season, he's expected to be a long-term piece on the offensive line protecting Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud. The Texans return to the Methodist Training Center for the start of training camp on Wednesday morning.
