Gwyneth and then-husband Chris Martin were said to have been 'disgusted' by Madonna's behaviour

The unauthorised biography of Gwyneth tells how she and then- husband Chris Martin were enjoying an island holiday in the early Noughties when Madonna unexpectedly turned up and caused a scene.
Author Amy Odell writes: 'Madonna insisted Gwyneth and Martin join her for a big group dinner at a long table where Madonna went off on her daughter, Lourdes.
'Gwyneth and Martin were disgusted by the behaviour.'
According to Gwyneth: The Biography, Coldplay frontman Chris branded Madonna 'awful' and told his wife: 'I can't be around this woman any more.'
Those close to Gwyneth said she distanced herself from the Queen of Pop — and neither women have been photographed together since.
The apparent fallout between the A-listers became part of showbiz legend in the years that followed.
'I can ice people out and harbour revenge'
Before the alleged holiday row, the close pals had attended Kabbalah classes together and told how they supported each other.
In 2006, Gwyneth, said of Madonna: 'Everything I have gone through, she went through ten times worse and ten times longer.
'She gives me good advice about how to say no and take care of myself.'

They then became increasingly distant in the years that followed, with Gwyneth, 52, seemingly excluding Madonna, 66, from her inner circle and spending more time with other stars including Beyonce and Jay-Z.
In a 2010 interview with Vogue, Gwyneth all but confirmed she and Madonna were no longer pals when she made a reference to celebrity personal trainer Tracy Anderson, who used to work with them both.
Gwyneth said: 'It's good that [Tracy] doesn't train Madonna any more. It was too much. She keeps people waiting — it takes up your whole day.'
She later admitted: 'Oh yes, I can be mean. I can cave in to gossip. I can ice people out and I definitely harbour revenge.'
The Oscar-winner's spat with the Hung Up singer is not the only bombshell revelation from the book.
Gwyneth's relationship with her ex Brad Pitt is also explored by author Odell, who says she conducted 220 interviews with 'close current and former friends and colleagues'.
Her book reveals Gwyneth started hooking up with Brad on the set of 1995 crime thriller Se7en, where he had requested she play his wife.
But trouble started brewing after Gwyneth, who led a privileged life and was educated privately, struggled with Brad's working-class roots.
The daughter of actress Blythe Danner and director Bruce Paltrow, Gwyneth attended posh fee-paying school Spence and moved into Hollywood with ease, winning an Academy Award aged 26.

By contrast, Brad worked as a limo driver for strippers and dressed as a chicken to advertise a food chain before getting his big break.
The book brutally details what appears to be Gwyneth's disdain for their different worlds.
She is reported to have said: 'Brad and I had very different upbringings.
'So when we go to restaurants and order caviar, I have to say to Brad, 'This is beluga and this is osetra.''
It was after Gwyneth was cast in the movie adaptation of Jane Austen's book Emma in 1996 that she is said to have admitted to having doubts about their relationship.
The film received rave reviews, and despite Gwyneth agreeing to marry Brad three months after it came out, she is said to have cried over whether their relationship was right.
They seemed threatened by each other, based on whom Gwyneth was favouring in a given moment
Amy Odell
The biography recalls how Gwyneth would sob to her friend and make-up artist Kevyn Aucoin 'multiple times' over the fact Brad 'wanted to be with her, but seemed to feel threatened by her success and all the attention she received.'
Kevyn is said to have told Gwyneth: 'You really need to end this'.
Odell's book also claims Gwyneth 'expressed doubts' about their romance and 'admitted she had a crush on Hugh Grant'.
The pair split in 1997, with Gywneth later saying in 2015: 'I wasn't ready, and he was too good for me.'
Gwyneth's on-off three-year relationship with Ben Affleck is also explored in the book, with claims she 'spoke openly about how much she enjoyed their sex life' and told her make-up artist Kevyn how she 'loved' him performing an X-rated act on her.
Those close to Gwyneth said she fell for his 'intellect' but said her friends were worried because he was 'more interested in playing video games with the guys at his house'.

Gwyneth: The Biography by Amy Odell is out on July 31st
The book also claims he cheated on her, with Odell writing: 'Their physical chemistry couldn't overcome his self-destructive impulses, which may have even included cheating on her.'
Shocking claims are also made about Gwyneth's temperament — including as boss of wellness brand Goop, which she launched in 2008.
Author Odell claims 'executives struggled to navigate Gwyneth's impatience and perfectionism.'
She wrote: 'They seemed threatened by each other, based on whom Gwyneth was favouring in a given moment (and she made it clear).
'Employees who worked up the nerve to go into her office were often met with impatience, an attitude of 'What do you want? Get it over with.''
Another tale recalls 'leadership team meetings' where Gwyneth would bring in specialists to hold 'self-improvement workshops' with their teams.
'Ralph Lauren was not happy about the fit'
Odell writes: 'At one such meeting, a facilitator asked the executives to take turns saying one thing they believed to be true about themselves but wasn't true of anybody else in the room.
'When it was Gwyneth's turn, she said with a smile, 'I won an Oscar.'
'Her team's reaction amounted to a playful 'Gwyneth, f**k off.''
Odell's sources also claim Gwyneth clashed with Ralph Lauren over her gown for the 1999 Oscars where she won Best Actress for Shakespeare In Love.
According to the book, Gwyneth said she wanted the design to be 'inspired by Grace Kelly' and that she had wanted 'the neckline lower and lower'.
It's claimed famed designer Ralph became 'frustrated' after Gwyneth lost weight and came close to refusing to send the dress to Los Angeles for the fitting.
The biography claims: 'The designers at Ralph Lauren noticed that something looked off when she wore it that night.
'The fabric was puckering, a little wrinkly, loose around her torso — as if she had instantly lost ten pounds.
'They realised she hadn't worn the inner detachable corset that came with the gown, which would have made it fit more snugly. Lauren was not happy about the fit.'
Gwyneth's marriage to Chris Martin is also examined in the book, with those close to the actress describing him as an 'introvert who could be socially awkward'.
They also claim she was 'seduced by his persona'.
Gwyneth and Chris married in December 2003 and had daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19.
They split in 2014, with Gwyneth coining the now infamous phrase 'consciously uncoupling.'
But Odell claims that the couple 'had separated a year earlier' to give themselves the chance to work through the break-up.
Using Goop as the platform to announce the split was, apparently, also meticulously planned.
The book says of Gwyneth: 'While she privately struggled to generate optimism about the separation, she found a way to do it publicly, to turn this painful, confusing failure into a project that might inspire and illuminate — and maybe boost the brand.'
That brand, Odell claims, is now being handed down to Gywneth and Chris' daughter Apple — who is studying Law, History, and Society at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
It is claimed Apple has a 'genuine interest' in the brand.
Gwyneth's agent Richard Lovett says: 'She's not going to be the next [Gwyneth], but she will be the original Apple.'

Gwyneth Paltrow book bombshells from Madonna fall out to x-rated Ben Affleck confession
From kissing Shakespeare to promoting vaginal steaming, Gwyneth Paltrow's career has been far from ordinary. Now an unauthorised new biography purports to shed light on the star's private life, with some eye-opening revelations For decades, Gwyneth Paltrow has been at the very heart of popular culture, from red carpets to wellness trends. Now, a new biography purports to shed light on the superstar behind closed doors. For her unauthorised book 'Gwyneth: The Biography', writer Amy Odell interviewed 220 people to get a clear picture of who the 52-year-old actress turned businesswoman really is, away from her controversial thoughts on vaginal steaming and jade eggs. Born in LA to actress Blythe Danner and film producer-director Bruce Paltrow, Gwyneth was rubbing shoulders with movie professionals from birth, and it's unsurprising that she rose to become Hollywood royalty and one of the most talked about women on Earth. It comes after Taylor Swift sparks engagement rumours as fans spot Travis Kelce's lock screen. The Talented Mr Ripley star has long intrigued fans, not least because of the many icons who populate her close inner circle, from pin-up exes to legendary former best friends. Here, the Mirror takes a look at just some of the bombshells in Odell's hair-raising new book, including a very naughty anecdote about Ben Affleck... Brad Pitt jibe Gwyneth has long appeared to be on excellent terms with her A-lister ex Brad Pitt, with the former couple even opening up about the now platonic love they share in a 2022 Goop interview. Making reference to her TV writer husband Brad Falchuk, Gwyneth joked: "I finally found the Brad I was supposed to marry. It just took me 20 years." However, Odell has suggested that things perhaps haven't always been so amicable between the pair, who first locked eyes in 1994, on the set of David Fincher's classic crime thriller, Se7en. Two years later, the iconic '90s 'It couple' announced their engagement, but parted ways before making it to the altar. It wasn't long before Brad moved on with Friends actress Jennifer Aniston, marking the beginning of the Brad, Jenn, and Angelina love triangle that would keep gossip writers chattering throughout the '00s. For Gywneth's part, she spoke fondly about her heartthrob ex in interviews, describing him as "so gorgeous and sweet" in a 2015 interview with Howard Stern. However, as claimed by Odell, in private, Gwyneth used some far less glowing terms to describe her ex-fiancé, who she reportedly blasted as "dumber than a sack of s**t" who had "terrible taste in women". A few years after her heartbreaking split from the Fight Club star, the future wellbeing entrepreneur became the face of Estee Lauder. It was during this time that a friendship developed with the founder's daughter, billionaire heiress Aerin Lauder, in whom she allegedly confided her true feelings about Brad. According to this bombshell book, while seated together at dinner one evening, Gwyneth plainly told Aerin: "He's dumber than a sack of s***." 'Toxic' friendship with Madonna Once upon a time, Gwyneth and music legend Madonna were thick as thieves back in the '90s and '00s. As two of the most recognisable women in the world, the pair had plenty in common, from being married to English husbands to a love of Kabbalah. They would even enjoy holidays together. It would appear that Gwyneth looked up to the now 66-year-old Queen of Pop as an inspiration as she navigated the challenges and pitfalls of the upper echelons of fame. Back in 2006, as per US Weekly, Gwyneth shared: 'Everything I have gone through, she went through 10 times worse and 10 times longer. She gives me good advice about how to say no and take care of myself." However, according to Odell's book, things went downhill sharply when Madonna's "toxic" behaviour allegedly left Gwyneth and her then-husband Chris Martin "disgusted". Odell wrote: 'Their relationship reached a breaking point when Madonna showed up to an island where Gwyneth and [Chris] Martin were vacationing. Madonna seemed to know that Gwyneth would be there, which Gwyneth seemed to find strange, a friend remembered. "Madonna then insisted Gwyneth and Martin join her for a big group dinner at a long table, where Madonna went off on her daughter, Lourdes. Gwyneth and Martin were disgusted by the behavior. 'I can't be around this woman anymore,' Martin told Gwyneth. 'She's awful.' Gwyneth agreed that Madonna was toxic and ended the friendship.' It's unclear when exactly this incident occurred, and no details have ever been given publicly to explain why the friendship cooled off. However, the two former besties have not been photographed together since 2010, suggesting this was the cut-off point. It was also at this point that a source told US Weekly that the women were no longer on speaking terms. Steamy Ben Affleck reveal Shortly after her painful split from Brad, Gwyneth entered into a relationship with another leading man, Ben Affleck. The year was 1997, at time when Affleck was enjoying widespread acclaim for his Academy Award-winning screenplay Good Will Hunting. Gwyneth, too, was riding a career high, being in the midst of a flurry of well-received movies. The year before, she'd starred in the title role of Emma Woodhouse in a widely beloved adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma. The year 1998 proved to be Gwyneth's golden year, seeing her star in both Sliding Doors and Shakespeare In Love. Their three-year relationship, therefore, came at an exciting time for both Gwyneth and Affleck, and these thrills reportedly extended to the bedroom. According to Odell, Gwyneth confided in makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin about the adventurous sex life she shared with Affleck, now 52. In particular, Gwyneth reportedly spoke candidly about an X-rated sex act she allegedly "loved". According to Odell: 'She spoke openly about how much she enjoyed their sex life. She told (Aucoin) one day that she loved when Affleck 'tea-bagged' her." She added: "It was the ribald side of her that her friends knew well but that the public didn't see." Saucey antics aside, Gwyneth and Affleck were well suited, but sadly, Affleck's "demons" allegedly stood in the way of a happily ever after. Odell claimed: "Her friends thought Ben was more of an intellectual match. But he had demons. Affleck was struggling with alcoholism and a gambling habit around the time he met Gwyneth.' Affleck has spoken openly about being a recovering alcoholic. In 2020, he told The New York Times: "People with compulsive behavior, and I am one, have this kind of basic discomfort all the time that they're trying to make go away. You're trying to make yourself feel better with eating or drinking or sex or gambling or shopping or whatever. But that ends up making your life worse." Gwyneth: The Biography by Amy Odell will be available to buy from July 29.

Prince William's unexpected response after Oscar-winning actress's cheeky request
When one Oscar-winning actress was awarded her damehood at Buckingham Palace, her bold request of Prince William left the royal bashful and laughing Iconic British actress Emma Thompson has had several memorable encounters with Prince William over the years, including being asked to be a presenter at the first annual Earthshot Prize Awards, and a hilarious video call between the unlikely pals. But arguably the most unforgettable moment they shared happened in 2018, when Thompson was invited to Buckingham Palace to receive her damehood for her outstanding contribution to the arts and entertainment. Reflecting on the moment while on the press tour for her 2021 film Cruella, she revealed that she cheekily asked William for a kiss. Speaking via a video link, Ms Thompson joked about her unique request to Prince William, who has a knack for forging friendships with A-list film stars, as he handed over her award. She explained: "Prince William was absolutely fantastic. I wrote him a fan letter afterwards. His face and body language, so kind and generous to every single person. I've known him since he was little really. I've always liked him. "I couldn't believe how tall he'd got. I did say, 'I suppose I better not kiss you' and he said, 'Probably better not.' I asked him about him and he said, 'Will you please stop talking about me, it's about you.' What a nice man." Both William and Princess Kate had another memorable moment with the actress several years ago, as the Waleses spoke with Emma Thompson and her Cruella co-star Emma Stone in a video call. The group discussed plans to host NHS Charities Together and NHS staff at a unique drive-in cinema screening of the new film at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and got side-tracked as they joked about behind the scenes secrets. Speaking to the couple ahead of the screening, Thompson said: "Wait till you see the clothes, it's unbelievable." Then, gesturing to Kate, the actress said "you're going to want all of Emily's [Emma Stone's] clothes, they're so amazing. Obviously you won't be able to wear them in public but they're so brilliant." Thompson - who played the role of The Baroness in the film - also shared an excellent story with the royal couple about the time she didn't want to wait in the traffic and decided to travel on the London Underground in her eccentric movie costume. She revealed: 'One day when we were shooting there was a demonstration on in London and our car couldn't get to where we were shooting in Covent Garden so I said we've got to get out and we've got to go by Tube. "I was in a wig and huge make-up, you'll see my eyelashes, I look like a llama. And we got on the Tube to go to Covent Garden and I thought it's going to be fine, it's 9 o'clock Sunday morning, there won't be anyone on the train. It was rammed, rammed and no-one took the slightest bit of notice, they all clearly thought I was a drag act on the way home!" Kate then asked the pair whether or not Cruella was a fun film to shoot, with Emma Stone revealing: "It was so much fun, we were all over London, we were in front of Liberty. "They transformed Carnaby Street into 70s London which was amazing and then we were in front of Buckingham Palace at one point. I was riding a motorcycle around The Mall." Prince William joked that "we should have had you stopped, Emma, that's very dangerous!"
