Uttar Pradesh STF, intelligence agencies to monitor Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer exam
According to an official spokesman, the exam will be held across all 75 districts of the state on July 27 in a single shift from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Over 10.76 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam, for which 2,382 centres have been set up across the state.
It may be remembered that the Uttar Pradesh government had cancelled the examination for the recruitment of RO/ARO in February 2024 to safeguard the integrity of the examination following the reports of paper leak, and the entire issue was handed over to the STF for investigation.
Each district magistrate has been appointed as a nodal officer to monitor all the arrangements and take quick decisions as and when needed, the statement said.
Officials said the STF has been specifically directed to monitor the sensitive exam centres identified prior to the test.

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Yadav, who carried a Rs 50,000 cash reward for any information leading to his arrest, was the prime accused in the abduction and murder of Vikas Kumar, the Begusarai block president of Hindustani Awam Morcha, in May this year. At UP STF headquarters in Lucknow, additional DG (law and order) Amitabh Yash on Monday said that the encounter took place around 11:55 pm on Sunday near the Badda Canal bridge in Simbhawali, Hapur. "Acting on a tip-off from Bihar Police that Dabloo had taken shelter in Delhi-NCR and was planning a major heist in western UP, the STF launched a joint operation along with Bihar Police and Hapur district police," he said. Yash said that a team led by SI Keshav Shandilya of Noida STF & guided by STF ASP Raj Kumar Mishra and DySP Navendu Kumar conducted ground surveillance for days. On Sunday night, specific inputs were received about Yadav and an associate moving through the Haroda–Ratupura road on a motorcycle. A team from STF, Bihar Police, and Simbhawali police set up a checkpoint near the Badda Canal culvert. "When the suspects were signalled to stop, they opened fire at the police team and tried to escape. In the retaliatory action, one of the criminals was hit and collapsed while his accomplice fled the scene under cover of darkness. The injured gangster was rushed to CHC Sikedha and later referred to Devnandini Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries," said the ADG (LO) in Lucknow. "He became a symbol of fear across Begusarai and was expanding his extortion and crime racket into Delhi and western UP. His neutralisation has not only avenged the killing of Vikas Kumar but will also help unravel his interstate criminal syndicate," said an STF officer. Operations are on to track the absconding accomplice, and the STF is coordinating with Bihar Police to dismantle the rest of Dabloo gang. Forensic teams have secured the arms and vehicles found at the scene. Dabloo Yadav's rise in world of crime Dabloo was known as a notorious gang leader and enforcer for several mafia networks operating in eastern Bihar. ‘Baron of Westarctica' opened cos in leading Indian businessmen's names?
1 2 Ghaziabad: A city court on Monday granted police five days' remand of Harshvardhan Jain, who ran a fake embassy from a Kavi Nagar bungalow that claimed to represent unrecognised 'micronations' like Westarctica, Ladonia and Seborga till he was arrested last week by UP's special task force (STF). The 49-year-old Harshvardhan Jain also drove around in cars with fake diplomatic blue number plates that had 'Honorary Consul Baron Westarctica' and 'Honorary Consigliere Principato Di Seborga' engraved on them. The STF believes the embassy, which was in operation for nine years, was a facade for a suspected hawala business that Jain ran using shell companies and had sought his custody to interrogate him. Jain was arrested by STF on July 23 from the rented two-storey Kavinagar bungalow. Talking to TOI, assistant prosecution officer Uttam Tripathy said had obtained a list of 25 companies from various diaries of Jain, which need to be verified. He cited the STF FIR to argue that Jain floated companies in the name of Dhirubhai Ambani, (Gautam) Adani and Mittal (which one was not specified), and the police recovered seals and stamps of those companies from him. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Passive Income Ideas Sitting at Home Mone Undo "We wanted his remand to take him to Delhi and Gujarat to verify details of the companies," he said. STF recovered two passports and two PAN cards from Jain. Tripathy said one passport was Indian and the other issued by 'Samoga'. "When we contacted the protocol division of ministry of external affairs, we were told that no country by the name of Samoga exists," he said, adding both passports were signed by one Pushpa Ranjan. "We found that there is a genuine person by that name in the passport division of MEA. The Indian passport is genuine, so it calls for proper investigation as to how the seal and signature of the same person were found in a passport issued by a non-existent country," Tripathy said. As for the PAN cards, one was issued in the name of Harshvardhan Jain and the other in the name of HV Jain. Tripathy told the court that to verify how two applications were placed for the issuance of a PAN card by the same person, they needed to find out links that Jain used. Jain was a frequent flier to the UK and Dubai. He was known to controversial astrologer Chandraswami. Raj Kumar Mishra, SP of Noida STF, said there are many dots in the line to connect. "We are preparing a list of questions for Jain," he said. "STF has also found 22 bank accounts in the name of Jain, 12 of which are in India."

Wanted Bihar gangster gunned down in Hapur encounter
A wanted gangster facing several cases in Bihar was gunned down in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district in the early hours of Monday, officials said. The shootout took place in the Simbhaoli police station area, where a police team intercepted Dabloo Yadav after receiving a tip-off about his movement. The operation was carried out jointly by the Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF) and the Bihar Police. Yadav, a native of Sahebpur Kamal area of Begusarai in Bihar, was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. He had been absconding for several months after a case was registered against him in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a local Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader. He was also a key suspect in several other heinous crimes registered across Bihar. UP STF Additional Director General (ADG) Amitabh Yash said Yadav opened fire on the police team, which retaliated in defence. The gangster sustained a gunshot injury to his chest and was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to injuries, he said. The police said apart from the HAM leader's kidnapping and murder, at least 24 other cases — including that of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, and violations of the Arms Act, were registered against Yadav at several police stations in Bihar. The Bihar Police said, 'Yadav was on the run for some time. Acting on intelligence inputs, our team reached UP and coordinated with the STF. During the encounter, Yadav was killed in the retaliatory firing.' A large number of firearms, cartridges, and other items were seized, ADG Yash said. On May 24, 2025, Yadav, with the help of his gang, allegedly kidnapped Vikash Kumar alias Rakesh Kadam, the block president of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM party) from the Sahebpur Kamal area and took him to the riverine region where he was killed and buried under sand to conceal the body, the STF added.
