Sovos and Tungsten join forces for compliant accounts payable automation
0
This collaboration addresses the critical business need for seamless integration between accounts payable automation and indirect tax compliance in an era of increasing global regulatory complexity.
The partnership combines the Tungsten Automation Platform with Sovos' Tax Compliance Cloud to create a comprehensive solution for intelligent invoice automation and global tax compliance. The combined solution supports both paper and PDF invoice capture using OCR and AI-powered technology for advanced document processing and connects seamlessly with supplier portals while integrating with ERP and procurement systems. It provides global tax determination and ensures real-time compliance with e-invoicing regulations. This seamless approach reduces manual effort, accelerates processing times, and ensures multi-national organizations remain compliant with evolving global mandates - unlocking operational efficiency, audit readiness, and peace of mind at scale.
Addressing a Critical Market Need
Traditional AP workflows remain manual, error-prone, and disconnected from tax compliance
requirements, resulting in operational inefficiencies, higher costs, and significant compliance risks. With new global tax mandates such as VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) and Continuous Transaction Controls (CTC) taking hold, companies can no longer treat AP automation and tax compliance as separate initiatives. Businesses need invoice agility across all platforms and systems.
'The convergence of AP automation and tax compliance isn't just an operational advantage, it's become a business imperative,' said Peter Hantman, CEO, Tungsten Automation. 'Our partnership with Sovos addresses a critical C-Suite need in how enterprises approach their financial workflows. By integrating our proven automation capabilities with Sovos' comprehensive compliance expertise, we're delivering a solution that transforms AP from a cost center into a strategic advantage.'
Seamless Integration Delivers Unprecedented Value
The Compliant AP solution works through five integrated stages:
Invoice capture & data extraction: Tungsten's AI-powered OCR technology extracts data from any invoice format with intelligent validation.
Automated invoice matching & workflow routing: Automated matching against purchase orders and goods receipts within SAP systems
Integrated tax determination & compliance validation: Sovos provides real-time tax determination at both the network and SAP stages
Seamless ERP posting: Validated invoices are automatically posted to SAP with complete audit-ready documentation
Real-time reporting & analytics: Comprehensive visibility into invoice status, AP cycle times, and tax liabilities
'This partnership represents the evolution of tax compliance from a reactive business requirement to a proactive growth enabler,' said Kevin Akeroyd, CEO, Sovos. 'By combining our deep tax expertise with Tungsten's automation leadership, we're not just solving today's compliance challenges, we're futureproofing our customers' operations against an evolving global regulatory landscape. This is exactly the kind of integrated innovation that transforms how businesses operate.'
Proven Partnership Built on Operational Success
This strategic alliance builds upon a long-standing relationship between the companies, with Sovos previously serving as the embedded tax compliance engine within Tungsten's platform. This new agreement formalizes a partnership that has been tested and refined through direct customer feedback and operational success.
The solution offers unprecedented flexibility as a source system-agnostic platform that connects as a 'last mile compliance partner' to existing infrastructure without requiring system replacement. Companies can implement the joint solution without operational disruption while achieving up to 90% touchless processing, reducing 70% costs in audit or compliance-related penalties, and cutting per-invoice costs from approximately $10 to less than $2.
Market Impact and Customer Benefits
Key benefits of the integrated compliant AP solution include:
Elimination of manual AP workflows with 90%+ touchless processing
Guaranteed tax accuracy through integrated validation
Dramatic reduction in AP processing costs
Improved cash flow through faster, more accurate processing
ViDA compliance readiness for evolving EU mandates
Reduced implementation risk with proven solutions from established market leaders
Deployment flexibility that adapts to existing systems without disruption

Bill Gates' net worth plummets $51BILLION in ONE WEEK after a single decision
Bill Gates ' net worth plummeted by a staggering $51 billion in just days after he revealed his plans to give away his fortune at a much faster rate than previously planned. The Microsoft co-founder announced he will donate nearly all of his remaining fortune over the next two decades. In a May 8 blog post, Gates revealed the money will go to the Gates Foundation, the charitable organization he co-founded with ex-wife Melinda French Gates, 60. The foundation is reportedly set to wind down operations by the end of 2045. Once hailed as the richest man in the world for nearly 18 years, Gates saw his fortune decline sharply after his post as the Bloomberg Index adjusted its methodology to better account for the 69-year-old tech mogul's substantial charitable giving. Bloomberg noted that appreciation rates had been lowered to 'better reflect Gates' outside charitable giving and the wealth estimate', Fortune reports. The organization currently puts his net worth at $123 billion and notes that his generosity means he has been overtaken on the rich list by his former right-hand man at Microsoft, Steve Ballmer. Gates' philanthropic focus is consistent with a long-standing, personal mission to give away his wealth. 'People will say a lot of things about me when I die, but I am determined that "he died rich" will not be one of them,' Gates wrote. 'There are too many urgent problems to solve for me to hold onto resources that could be used to help people.' He has publicly stated for years that his children will inherit 'less than 1%' of his fortune, and now, that mission is being reflected in the numbers. Gates, who co- founded Microsoft in 1975, topped global wealth rankings for 13 consecutive years from 1995 to 2007. He reclaimed the top spot in 2014, holding it until 2018 when Amazon founder Jeff Bezos surpassed him, according to the Forbes Billionaires List. Following the latest adjustment, Gates dropped from 5th to 12th place on Bloomberg's list, just below fellow tech titan Michael Dell. His longtime friend and former Microsoft CEO Ballmer, also 69, now claims the 5th spot. Steve Ballmer is a longtime Microsoft executive and close associate of cofounder Bill Gates. He joined the company in 1980 as its 30th employee, leaving Stanford's MBA program to do so. Initially hired as a business manager, Ballmer was offered a $50,000 salary and 10 percent of any profit growth he generated - an arrangement that quickly became too costly for the rapidly growing company. Later, in a renegotiated deal, Ballmer swapped his profit-sharing for an 8 percent equity stake, and although Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen objected, Gates personally gave up part of his own stake to finalize the agreement. That decision ultimately laid the foundation for Ballmer's immense wealth, making him one of the richest people in the world. Following in Gates' philanthropic footsteps, Ballmer has shown a strong commitment to giving back, donating over $4 billion of his wealth to date and founding the Ballmer Group - a philanthropic organization dedicated to improving economic mobility for families across the United States, Fortune reported.

I tested Samsung's AI vac with BRAIN that knows how to clean better than me – but the most shocking part was on my phone
SAMSUNG is not just pushing out super slim smartphones - but super clever household appliances too, such as the Bespoke Jet AI Ultra. The vacuum is smarter than ever, and can even stop automatically so you can take phone calls. 7 7 The clever cordless cleaner even delivers message alerts when you connect your phone to the vacuum via Samsung's SmarThings app. When you're about to miss a call or text over the sound of the hoover, a notification pops up on the Samsung vacuum's display. The 2025 Bespoke AI Jet Ultra can even turn off automatically whenever you receive said phone call or message. The display also alerts you to any blockages, and tells you which cleaning mode its artificial intelligence (AI) brain has decided is best for each room. 7 Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: Brainy AI The vacuum includes a revamped version of Samsung's 'AI Optimum Tech' which can classify more surfaces than before. As the vacuum glides across each room, it can detect different carpet types and flooring by sensing the brush load and vacuuming air pressure. It then automatically adjusts its settings, like suction power and brush speed, to suit. By sensing the floor type, you're always on the right setting - which not only makes cleaning less labour intensive, but can also save the cordless vacuum's battery. 7 Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: Battery According to Samsung, the Ultra can vacuum continuously for up to 100 minutes while on Min mode - the least powerful of the five cleaning modes: Min, Mid, Max, AI, and Jet. But that time shrinks drastically if you want to use the mega powerful 400W Jet mode. Sun tests world's thinnest vacuum at Dyson HQ – and 'PencilVac' is SAS of cleaning While cordless vacuums are a dream to use, it never fails to surprise me just how quickly they run out of charge. I suppose that's why the AI is there to tell me that every surface does not, in fact, require the extreme suckage of the Jet mode. Fortunately, it comes with two battery packs - so you do have a backup. One battery is more lightweight than the other, which Samsung says is for "quick and easy daily cleaning". The heftier one is when you want to tackle the whole home. The battery recharges when the vacuum is docked inside the cleaning station, and there is a separate charger for the other battery pack. 'At Samsung, we continuously search for solutions that excel at everyday cleaning,' Samsung exec Jeong Seung Moon said when the Ultra was unveiled in April. 'To meet the increasingly varied cleaning requirements of modern homes, this stick vacuum has been designed to offer powerful suction and advanced AI features in a lightweight form factor.' NEVER MISS A CALL First, you'll need to connect the vacuum to your phone in the SmarThings app. Here's how: Open the SmartThings app on your phone or tablet, and tap the + button to add a new device to your network. You can then choose the Scan QR code option and scan the QR code found on the side of the Bespoke Jet stick. Alternatively, you can try the Scan nearby option or add the Jet stick vacuum manually. How to turn on call and message alerts on your Samsung vacuum: Open the SmarThings app on your phone and select your Samsung vacuum. Access Call and message alerts. Tap OK at the Keep Location turned on pop-up. Allow SmartThings Companion to make and manage phone calls. Allow SmartThings Companion to send and view SMS messages. Allow SmartThings Companion to access your location all the time. Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: Dust buster The SmarThings app even tells you when the vacuum is fully charged, its default suction power setting, and when its dustbin was last emptied. The Bespoke Jet AI Ultra comes with a sleek, and stylish stand that doubles up as a clean station. The clean station will automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin when you dock the vacuum. According to Samsung, the clean station has a multi-layered filter system that traps a whopping 99.999% of fine dust. The new vacuum boasts a HEPA filtration system with an upgraded fine dust filter that reduces dust particles escaping into the air - and avoids the horrid musty smell that can happen when you hoover. 7 Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: What a head-ache The vacuum comes with three brush heads, alongside all the other typical nozzle modcons. In the box comes the Active Dual Brush head, the Slim LED Brush+, and the Pet Tool+ brush head. It left me yearning for an all-in-one brush head, simply out of laziness. Plus, where are we supposed to keep all of these heads, anyway? Well, Samsung does provide you with a little carousel-style tower for all the accessories, although it's not as stylish as the clean station. But I suppose for the eyewatering price of £1,199 - the more heads the merrier. Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: Pricing The vacuum, which comes in both black and mint colours, is priced at £1,199.00 at most retailers, including Samsung, John Lewis and Very. That said, Samsung has currently slashed the price on its website by £300.00 - taking it down to £899.00. 7 THE VERDICT While its has a lofty price tag, the Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra is a clever and stylish cleaning gadget that really gets the job done. Unless you have a cleaning cupboard in your house, I often find the hoover is a bit of an eyesore in my otherwise lovely and possibly even stylish home. Samsung has squashed that woe with its sleek, compact design that really is easy on the eyes. Aesthetics aside, the vacuum is a sturdy piece of kit that makes cleaning the house much easier than lugging around a corded hoover. It's lightweight, and packs a 400W punch with its Jet mode. Although I don't believe I'll have much use for the call alert system - it's a nice touch, and could really come in handy some day. The AI telling me which mode is best for which floor is ideal, it means the vacuum can conserve energy - which in turn, keeps my energy bills down.
