Miami Dolphins MVP Zach Sieler feels 'respect coming' amid contract negotiations
Defensive lineman Zach Sieler, who is participating in training camp after holding himself out of optional team drills in the spring, sent a signal after the second workout that talks on a new contract are progressing.
'I do feel that respect coming and I think I've earned it,' Sieler said before correcting himself slightly. 'I know I've earned it.'
Sieler, 29, has steadily grown since being claimed by the Dolphins off waivers from Baltimore in 2019, enjoying a 2024 season in which he contended for a spot in the Pro Bowl. Problem is, he's due to earn $12.4 million this year and his contract, which was extended in 2023, averages $10.25 million per year — 31st among the NFL's interior defenders.

But never in his session with reporters did Sieler make any contract demands.
'God's blessed me with amazing seasons here in Miami,' he said. 'I'm so fortunate to have the time I've had here and continue to have here. Obviously, all that stuff is between me and the team. What I really care about is getting out there on the field with the guys and building that camaraderie and leadership with them.'
Sieler had 55 tackles last season and recorded back-to-back years with 10 sacks — something no Dolphin has done since Cameron Wake in 2016-17. He sets the tone for Miami's front seven.
Sieler ranks among the best waiver-wire success stories in team history, with an NFL career mimicking his rise from the collegiate ranks. He played at Division II Ferris State and was just a seventh-round draft pick.

'We have more than we ever imagined,' he said of his family. 'I am beyond blessed from these last seven years alone. My wife and I love how our life has turned out.'
The organization doesn't comment on ongoing negotiations, but there's a strong indication Sieler's situation will have a result opposite that of tight end Jonnu Smith, who was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers after a contractual stalemate with the Dolphins.
'Everyone's decision is their own path, their own journey,' Sieler said. 'Prayed about it a bunch, talked to my wife, talked to my family and you know, at the end of the day, I'm going to be me — what got me to this point, what's got me here so far, and that's what I'm going to do every day.'
Sieler pointed out that most spring workouts were voluntary, but training camp isn't.
'Season's right around the corner, four or five weeks away,' Sieler said. 'And I want to be out here and be with the guys.'

6 Chargers players to watch in Pro Football Hall of Fame Game
It's game week in the NFL! We're not quite to the meaningful games, but hey, it's football at this point. The Chargers kick off the football season with the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Thursday against the Lions. It seems like veteran Denzel Perryman will start alongside Daiyan Henley, but Colson needs to prove that he deserves legitimate playing time in 2025. We'll see how he performs on Thursday, our first look to see if he has taken a step forward this year. OL Jamaree Salyer Set to enter his fourth NFL season, Salyer started 31 games in his first two seasons in Los Angeles. The veteran saw a dramatic dip in playing time in 2024, but he has a chance to sneak his way back into the starting lineup. With some injuries along the offensive line, Salyer has gotten some first-team reps to begin camp. We'll see if he can sneak into a starting role at left guard, which would knock either Zion Johnson or Bradley Bozeman out. CB Ja'Sir Taylor Here's another guy that's been with the Chargers for a while, but with Taylor, he's vying to remain on this year's 53-man roster. He has had some bright spots in the early stages of training camp, and he always offers valuable special teams experience. His performance on defense throughout the preseason will be the deciding factor in his fate with this year's roster, though. WR Keandre Lambert-Smith The rookie fifth-rounder has been one of the big winners of training camp. With McConkey out, Lambert-Smith should see extended action and targets. We'll get our first real glimpse to see if his summer success translates to the playing field. If so, he may have a legitimate immediate impact on this year's offense. S RJ Mickens Another rookie to close this list out. Mickens is fighting for a spot on the roster, most notably with veteran Tony Jefferson. The former Clemson product has the traits to have a sustainable NFL career, but he will have to shine in front of the big lights to make the Chargers' 53-man roster.

Former Steelers WR George Pickens lighting up Cowboys training camp
Of all the big moves the Pittsburgh Steelers made this offseason, the trade that sent wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys took us by surprise the most. After trading for wide receiver DK Metcalf and passing on a wide receiver in the 2025 NFL draft, we were excited to see the tandem of Metcalf and Pickens out there with Aaron Rodgers throwing them the football. Things didn't work out and now Pickens is in Dallas and forms one of the best tandems in the NFC with CeeDee Lamb. Meanwhile, the Steelers are sorting between Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson and Robert Woods for their other starter. At the same time, Pickens is lighting up Cowboys camp and seems to make a huge play every practice. With how aggressive the Steelers have been this offseason to add talent, every move they make is going to be under the microscope. If Pickens has a breakout campaign and the Steelers' passing offense struggles, there will be plenty of second-guessing of the trade. The Steelers drafted Pickens in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft out of Georgia. Pickens' talent was never in question but his maturity and work ethic were. The Steelers gave Pickens three seasons but he never seemed fully committed to playing in this offense. Anthony Richardson: I'm working as if I am the Day One starter
Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson says he's preparing himself as if he'll be under center when the season opens against the Dolphins on September 7. Richardson is competing with Daniel Jones for the starting job in Indianapolis, and Richardson said he has lofty goals for himself and his team. 'I've just got to work as if I am going to be the Day One starter,' Richardson said. 'Regardless of what decision they make, I'm still working, trying to improve. They're going to make the best decision for this team, and that's what we need. This team wants to win the Super Bowl. It's not about me, it's about the team. I'm just working as if I am the starter, and if I don't get the job, you know, glory to God.' For his part, Jones said he's trying not to look any further than the next practice. 'All of our jobs as players is to come out, work and improve every day,' Jones said. 'You're human, you think about where you are and how it's going, but I've got to do the best I can to focus on what's in front of me.' Richardson and Jones were both highly drafted quarterbacks who so far have not lived up to expectations. The Colts need one of them to step up and play like a franchise quarterback.
