Jaland Lowe lands at Kentucky, Ryan Conwell heads to Louisville, UCLA adds 3 transfers
Former Pittsburgh point guard Jaland Lowe is heading to Kentucky.
Wildcats coach Mark Pope announced Friday that Lowe has joined the Southeastern Conference power in the transfer portal.
Lowe spent two seasons at Pitt, averaging 13.3 points, 4.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 64 games while playing for coach Jeff Capel. He led the Panthers in points (16.8) and assists (5.5) as a sophomore, though he also struggled with turnovers, averaging 3.0 as Pitt saw a promising start fizzle into a 17-15 season.
The 6-foot-3 Lowe was a third-team All-ACC selection.
'Jaland is an incredibly explosive, playmaking, veteran point guard,' Pope said in a statement. 'He's a great kid who has a tremendous work ethic and most importantly, loves this game and wants nothing more than to win.'
While Lowe is moving to Lexington, former Xavier guard Ryan Conwell is heading about an hour west. The rising senior has transferred to Louisville.
Conwell was named to the All-Big East third team after averaging 16.5 points, including a career-best 38 against Marquette in the Big East Tournament. Conwell finished in the top 10 in the Big East in 3-point percentage (41%), field goal percentage (45%) and free-throw percentage (83%).
Louisville is Conwell's fourth stop in as many seasons. He previously played at South Florida and Indiana State before joining Xavier.
UCLA announced that three transfers are joining the Bruins.
Xavier Booker, a forward-center from Michigan State, has two years of eligibility remaining. Jamar Brown, a guard from Missouri-Kansas City, and Steven Jamerson II, a forward-center from the University of San Diego, will enroll as graduate students. They each have one season of eligibility left.
They join guard Donovan Dent, who earlier this month announced he was leaving New Mexico.

Former USC quarterback Miller Moss discusses decision to transfer to Louisville
This week, Big Ten media days took place in Las Vegas. However, the Big Ten was not the only school to hold its media days this week. Across the country in Charlotte, the ACC held its own event to kick off the 2025 football season. One of the attendees was Louisville quarterback Miller Moss, who transferred in from USC this past offseason. On Wednesday, Moss discussed the decision behind his transfer. "I think there were very specific things I was looking for in a school and an opportunity," Moss said. "I think coach [Jeff] Brohm and the University of Louisville, which, obviously, includes the program, offered a ton of that. "I think the opportunity to win and compete at a high level was certainly a part of that, and I think we absolutely have that opportunity this year. I think the ability to develop within a pro-style offense, like Chris touched on previously, was important to me. And I think just being around good and decent human beings . . . I wanted to be around good and decent human beings that cared about the right things and cared about one another, and I think I've absolutely found that within this program." After arriving at USC in 2021, Moss spent his first three years as a backup, before finally making his first start in the 2023 Holiday Bowl, ironically, against Louisville. He began his tenure as the starter with a six-touchdown performance against the Cardinals. Followed by a season-opening victory over LSU last year. However, Moss regressed as the season goes on, and was replaced by Jayden Maiava at QB for the final four games of the 2025 season. During the offseason, Moss elected to transfer to Louisville for his final season of eligibility. While he may not be wearing Cardinal and Gold anymore, Moss was class act who represented the Trojans with pride during his four years on campus. USC fans will certainly be wishing him success at Louisville this season and wherever his future takes him beyond that.

Sal Stewart, Reds star prospect, has four-hit, two-homer game for Triple-A Louisville Bats
Louisville Bats infielder Sal Stewart doesn't turn 22 years old until December. But he's already got Cincinnati Reds fans dreaming about when he'll reach the big-league level because of nights like July 26. Stewart, who ranks No. 2 among MLB Pipeline's top Reds' prospects and 40th in MLB, was 4-for-4 with two home runs and a double in an 11-9 loss to the Iowa Cubs. The effort raised Stewart's batting average to .281 in 32 plate appearances over eight games since he was promoted from Double-A Chattanooga to Triple-A Louisville. Stewart and catcher Alfredo Duno were the two Reds' minor-leaguers named to the 2025 MLB All-Star Futures Game. The Reds selected Stewart in the first round of the 2022 MLB draft. Defensively, he has split time between second and third base. Reactions via Twitter/X to Stewart's huge night: This article originally appeared on Cincinnati Enquirer: Sal Stewart: Reds 2B/3B prospect goes 4-for-4 with 2 HR for Louisville
