During the meeting both the sides, while expressing determination to further strengthen railway cooperation, agreed to promote economic, cultural and trade relations. Abbasi emphasised on improving trade links and travel facilities between the two countries. The ambassador Kyrgyzstan of appreciated the government's economic policies and said that Pakistan's current situation has improved and the economy has strengthened.
Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan discuss technical exchanges and joint projects for development in the railway sector. 'Railway cooperation between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan will improve economic relations and strengthen people-to-people contacts,' Abbasi said.
Abbasi stressed the need to strengthen relations with Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian Republics (CARs), saying railways has great potential to not only serve the travellers but also goods transport. He assured full support for increasing cooperation in the railway sector with Kyrgyzstan.
The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan invited Railways Minister Abbasi to attend the meeting of the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Inte rgovernmental Com mission.
On February 26, 2025, Uzbekistan and Pakistan during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's visit to Uzbekistan had agreed to establish a tripartite committee with Afghanistan to address issues that are hindering the implementation of a proposed railway project connecting the three countries.
According to officials, Russia is also keen to participate in the Trans-Afghanistan rail link and Russia has signed an agreement with Uzbekistan. According to Russia's Ministry of Transport, two possible routes are under consideration: Route (i) Mazar-e-Sharif – Herat – Dilaram– Kandahar – Chaman (Pakistan) and (ii) Route 2: Termez (Uzbekistan) – Naibabad – Logar – Harlachi (Pakistan).

Land record digitalisation initiatives: CM Sindh reviews progress
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, presiding over a meeting of Land Administration & Revenue Management Information System (LARMIS), directed the Board of Revenue (BoR) to integrate the e-Mutation system with the e-Registration system and expedite the progress on the e-transfer system to improve service delivery. The meeting, held at CM House, was attended by Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, PSCM Agha Wasif, Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi, Secretary Local govt Waseem Shamshad, Members Board of Revenue Omar Farooq Bullo and Saleem Baloch, and Secretary-cum-Director LARMIS Saifullah Abro and others. The CM said that LARMIS was established to provide citizens with computerised access to land records and related services throughout the province. With 27 dedicated People's Service Centres (PSCs) across district headquarters and a comprehensive online platform via the Board of Revenue's official website, the system ensures easy access to vital land information. During the briefing, the CM was told that Modern IT infrastructure supports daily operations, while a state-of-the-art Data Centre located at Revenue House Clifton, Karachi, serves as the central repository for digitised land records. Moreover, a Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC) in Hyderabad guarantees service continuity during emergencies. The digitisation process, which commenced in 2010 with the scanning of old records from 1985 to 2010, secures Forms VII-A, VII-B, and Form II collected from all Mukhtiarkar offices. Continuous scanning and indexing of post-2010 records at the Provincial Record Centre (PRC) in Hyderabad ensures ongoing public accessibility through integrated networks. LARMIS has further expanded its capabilities by offering digital access to government offices and statutory bodies for land title verification. It may be noted, the introduction of e-Registration services at PSCs has enhanced service delivery, with plans underway for the integration of an e-Mutation system. Launched in February 2024, the e-Registration system currently operates across 51 Sub-Registrar offices, facilitating registration services through the PSCs. By July 2025, over 100,000 documents and deeds have been successfully registered through this innovative system. Furthermore, the Board of Revenue Sindh is collaborating with Sukkur IBA University on the development of an 'E-Transfer of Property System,' which aims to secure revenue records through blockchain technology, thereby making property transactions more accessible and user-friendly. Hindko Academy resents non-allocation of budgetary funds
PESHAWAR: The Gandhara Hindko Board has expressed resentment over the non-allocation of funds for the Gandhara Hindko Academy in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget, terming it an injustice to the province's second most widely spoken language. In a statement, the board's General Secretary, Muhammad Ziauddin, urged members of the national and provincial assemblies to recommend to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur that discretionary funds be allocated to support the academy. Ziauddin, a noted research scholar of the Hindko language, said the academy was established in Peshawar 2015 under a public-private partnership and had since played a vital role in promoting Hindko and other regional languages. He pointed out that prior to the academy's establishment there was no institution in the province solely dedicated to the preservation and promotion of regional languages. Highlighting its accomplishments, Ziauddin said the academy had organised seven successful international Hindko conferences and nine regional language conferences across various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thereby fostering linguistic harmony. He added that the academy had published books and publications in 11 languages. 'Due to its outstanding performance and contributions, various academic and literary institutions have recognised the Gandhara Hindko Academy as a state-of-the-art institution,' he said. Ziauddin recalled that prominent literary, social, and political figures had participated in the academy's conferences and widely praised its efforts. However, he expressed concern that the academy had been facing a financial crisis for the past three years, as KP government funding was discontinued after July 31, 2022. He reminded that Hindko was officially the sixth most widely spoken language in Pakistan and the second most spoken in KP, and thus its speakers deserved due recognition and state support. Ziauddin called upon lawmakers to take special interest in the matter and urge the chief minister to restore funds for the Gandhara Hindko Board so that it could continue running the academy and its mission of linguistic preservation and development. ATC issues fresh summons to Omar Ayub
ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday issued fresh summons to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, for not appearing before it in the case registered against him and other PTI leaders. ATC judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, while hearing the case, issued a summon to the opposition leader in the National Assembly and adjourned the case registered at Shehzad Town police station until today (Thursday). The judge remarked that the case is adjourned until today (Thursday) so that the other accused can appear before the court. PTI lawyers Sardar Masroof, Zahid Bashir Dar and other lawyers appeared before the court. PTI leader Azam Swati filed an application seeking exemption from personal appearance before the court, which the court has approved. The defence counsel argued that all the accused in these cases belongs to different areas, including Mardan and Kashmir; therefore, it would be difficult for them to appear before the court tomorrow. He said that there is no arrangement for night stay of the accused in Islamabad. The judge remarked that it was the responsibility of the party to arrange their night stay. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till today (Thursday). Meanwhile, the judicial magistrate, Ahmed Shehzad Gondal has delayed the announcement of the verdict in two cases registered under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order (PAPO) Act, 2024. Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad Gondal was expected to deliver the reserved judgment today; however, according to court staff, the decision has not been fully written yet. Court officials confirmed that the verdict will now be announced today (Thursday). The cases had been registered at Ramna Police Station, and pertain to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest held on November 26. Final arguments in both cases were completed on July 18, after which the court had reserved its judgment. The court had indicted the accused in the same cases on January 22 and March 2025. A total of 80 persons were nominated in these cases, of which, 70 accused have been declared proclaimed offenders for not appearing before the court. The court has completed the trial for only eight accused, and the verdict will pertain to these eight accused. Similarly, another local court has also postponed the announcement of verdicts in a case registered under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order (PAPO) Act against PTI workers following PTI's November 26 protest. Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas will also deliver the reserved judgment today (Thursday) in case number 932, which is also related to the November 26 protest. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
