S.Oliver Group: New head of shoe distribution
Hüdepohl has decades of experience in the shoe industry and is familiar with S.Oliver's shoes. From mid-2019, he worked for the Wortmann Group as managing director of Shoe.com GmbH & Co. KG, which at that time held the shoe licence from S.Oliver. Last April, the S.Oliver Group and the Detmold-based shoe group ended their long-standing licence partnership.
'I have known Heiko Hüdepohl for over 20 years and greatly appreciate his qualities and his network,' said Michael Heißenberg, director of product shoes and accessories at S.Oliver. 'For us, he is the king transfer in the new set-up and an important piece of the puzzle to guarantee the trade a corresponding constancy and fixed contact persons.'
It was announced from Rottendorf that sales and collection development should work more closely together in the future. To this end, Hüdepohl will be involved in the design processes in order to adapt them to the needs of the trade and end customers. This article was translated to English using an AI tool.

Andy Carroll returns to English football in sixth tier as player and investor
Andy Carroll is back in English football after two years playing in France for Amiens and Bordeaux, and it won't just be on the pitch that his influence on his new club is seen Former England forward Andy Carroll has been unveiled as a new player AND investor at sixth tier club Dagenham & Redbridge. The ex-Newcastle and Liverpool forward, 36, had been playing in the French fourth tier with fallen giants Bordeaux, but he has now swapped his French life for a return to east London, where he previously played for West Ham. Carroll won nine caps for England, scoring twice, and was infamously signed by Liverpool from Newcastle for £35million in January 2011. Things didn't work out for him at Anfield though, and he left the Reds for West Ham after 11 goals in 58 appearances. Carroll said: 'I'm really excited to get started with Dagenham. My kids thought I was signing for Chelsea — they'll be in for a shock. It's a fantastic location and close to my kids, they will be able to come and see me play. 'I really enjoyed my time in Bordeaux but it's time for me to get settled with my family. I'm hoping my kids will bring their friends to see me play. 'I didn't want to finish playing football and I'm really excited to get involved in the leadership side and be a player. I've got experience in seeing how clubs are run, of all levels. I think I can add value." Dagenham announced Carroll's arrival in a social media video, saying: "It's not every day that a club can announce a new investor, a new kit and a new star striker all in the same day, but this isn't just anyone. Andy Carroll is a Dagger!" The move comes on same day that the Daggers announced that terms have been agreed for the sale of the club to a consortium featuring 'prominent Qatari investors' who have bought 100 per cent of the club. Interim chairman Youseph Al Sharif is joined in the consortium by former Daggers captain Anwar Uddin, who said: 'I consider it an absolute privilege to return to the club after such a memorable spell as a player. I'm genuinely excited to reconnect with the fans and everyone associated with Dagenham & Redbridge, and to play a part in helping the club move firmly in the right direction.'

Platform 1: Newtown Railway Station café off to fast start
Newtown's brand-new railway station café says it has welcomed lots of customers since opening last month. Platform 1 is a community project set up and run by volunteers from all walks of life, including those with learning difficulties, who want to pick up new skills and increase their confidence. The vibrant community space inside the Grade II-listed gateway to Newtown opened on June 9 and has since welcomed hundreds of railway passengers and local residents for a fresh, hot food. Bwyd Powys Food at Cultivate, a Newtown-based co-operative supporting businesses to use local food, has donated kitchen equipment to Platform 1, including an oven and dishwasher which will help cooking workshops with the community. Clare, volunteer director, said: "Having a brand-new cooker to cook and bake has been really helpful as I know that there is little likelihood of the cooker not working or cooking unevenly. It's quick and easy to use, and having the commercial dishwasher is an absolute godsend. 'Having just opened the café we have a lot of interest which means a lot of customers and just being able to have a quick and constant flow of washing works for us brilliantly as a commercial kitchen. It's absolutely brilliant." Nick Burdekin, North Powys Sustainable Food places coordinator, said: "Bwyd Powys Food is delighted to be able to support Platform 1 with new cooking equipment. 'Not only will the cooker be used to make fresh, hot food for local people, but will also provide hot food for commuters and visitors to Newtown. 'Please take the time to visit their brand-new café."

Rangers legend praises Beatson's new menu at Glasgow cafes
Tinderbox and Glasgow coffee roaster, Matthew Algie, have teamed up with the charity for the second year in a row to raise money for cancer patients and their families across Scotland. The cafe has expanded its menu this year, adding three new refreshing lemonades – cloudy lemonade, strawberry and cherry, and tropical – with 50p from each drink going to the charity. Tropical, cloudy and strawberry and cherry lemonades are available (Image: GT/Beatson Cancer Charity) The expansion follows the success of last year's tropical cooler, which saw almost 1,000 drinks sold. Sports stars have already tried out the new summer range, including former Rangers player and Scottish football figure Gordon Smith. Mr Smith said: "Beatson Cancer Charity, Tinderbox, and Matthew Algie are on to a winner with this – it's undoubtedly the drink of the summer. "I've been a long-time supporter of the Beatson Cancer Charity and all the amazing support they give to families in the West of Scotland. (Image: GT/Beatson Cancer Charity)"Initiatives like this are vital – they help raise awareness and much-needed funds for such an important cause." All the drinks are made with locally sourced ingredients, including those from Glasgow-based Matthew Algie. Carlo Ventisei, owner of Tinderbox, said: "After such a strong response to last summer's collaboration, we wanted to do even more. "The new menu is a way to offer variety while continuing to support a cause that means a great deal to our team and customers." Bella the Bee launching the new menu (Image: GT/Beatson Cancer Charity) Heilidh Wilson, corporate fundraiser at Beatson Cancer Charity, added: "We're delighted to be working with Tinderbox and Matthew Algie for a second year. "Last summer's response was incredible, and it's brilliant to see the collaboration grow. "Every drink sold helps us continue supporting people facing cancer across the west of Scotland – and we hope this expanded menu encourages even more people to get involved and support in a meaningful way." The lemonades will be available until the end of September at Tinderbox cafés in Byres Road, Charing Cross, Braehead, Princes Square, Glasgow Fort and Merchant City.
